Quite a contrast, isn't it?

Three stories here:

1. Who influences whom.

2. We need real campaign finance reform.

3. We need real SCOTUS reform.

For some excellent Weiner (bygones), watch these videos of him smack down a couple of health care weenies (bygones).

Summit Watch: The Boehner speaks... and speaks... and speaks

By GottaLaff

http://blogs.e-rockford.com/applesauce/files/2008/09/000000boehner2.jpg

The Boehner spoke and spoke and spoke nothing but the same old GOP talking points, and then said:

"I could go on and on and on."

And then he went on.

""I've been patient....But why can't we agree...? ... Let's scrap the bill."

He's just afraid his faux tanning won't be covered any more.

Obama:

"There are so many things you just said that ... just aren't true."

And shortly thereafter, the president ended the convo and moved on.

The latest blatant hypocrisy of John Boehner

By GottaLaff

http://maaadddog.files.wordpress.com/2009/02/s-boehner-large.jpg

Here is a statement from Glowy McFauxTan that clearly demonstrates how very bipartisan and open to civil discussion the GOP is:
Statement by Republican Leader John Boehner (R-OH) on the Proposed Feb. 25 Health Care Summit

Washington, Feb 13 - House Republican Leader John Boehner (R-OH) today issued the following statement regarding the health care summit being planned by congressional Democrats and the White House for February 25:

"A productive bipartisan discussion should begin with a clean sheet of paper. We now know that instead of starting the 'bipartisan' health care 'summit' on Feb. 25 with a clean sheet of paper, the president and his party intend to arrive with a new bill written behind closed doors exclusively by Democrats -- a backroom deal that will transform one-sixth of our nation's economy and affect every family and small business in America. They will then engage a largely handpicked audience in a televised 'dialogue' according to a script they have largely pre-determined. They will do this as a precursor to embarking on a legislative course that Democratic congressional aides acknowledge has also been pre-determined -- a partisan course that relies on parliamentary tricks to circumvent the will of the American people and engineer a pre-determined outcome. It doesn't sound much like bipartisanship to me."

NOTE: House Republicans' alternative solutions to make health care more affordable and accessible can be found at HealthCare.GOP.gov.

Here is a link to their so-called solutions.

Where do I start?

For one thing, The Boehner seems to forget that those very same "tricks" were used ad nauseam by Boy Georgie. And that it's because of the stubborn obstructionist tactics by his own party that the Dems might, and should, resort to circumventing the endless, and unprecedented, number of filibusters.

Oh, and BoehnHead? When it comes to "pre-determined scripts", you might want to 1) Look in the mirror (with sunglasses on, lest your artificial coloring blind you), 2) Check out this post on ReadHand McCribNotes' insistence on pre-screened questions, and 3) Walk down Memory Lane long enough to recall that BushCo pre-determined everything from hand-picked audiences to fraudulent wars against sovereign countries.

But using the word "Democratic", instead of "Democrat", is duly noted.

Boehner to Wall St. CEO: Pay us for our services

By GottaLaff

https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhazh7VTgRh46HrduvhuXI9YFLptU_kcUtgOANEBH3POZQCnra3ii8H4flQWtWRrbADpTxyR-SYjBIzfw0CdZAhaJoz4glxY1N_PlSohfAnDTNipFxhyphenhyphenNeKl2LKe6rN-ibfYmYnCONkmLV_/s400/boehner2.JPG

Somebody's got his big orange faux-tanned hand out:
The Wall Street Journal reports today that "Republicans are stepping up their campaign to win donations from Wall Street, trying to capitalize on an increasing sense of regret among executives at big financial institutions for backing Democrats in 2008." [...]

Last week, House Minority Leader John Boehner of Ohio made a pitch to Democratic contributor James Dimon, the chairman and chief executive of J.P. Morgan, over drinks at a Capitol Hill restaurant, according to people familiar with the matter.

Mr. Boehner told Mr. Dimon congressional Republicans had stood up to Mr. Obama's efforts to curb pay and impose new regulations. The Republican leader also said he was disappointed many on Wall Street continue to donate their money to Democrats, according to the people familiar with the matter.

The Boehner foots the bill for a couple of drinks and expects a few million in return... and his bait to Wall Street is that the Democrats are trying to fix the gargantuan problems that the Rushpublics jammed down our throats for 8 endless years.

His solution? Go right back to BushCo's methods and recreate the worst recession in decades.

That must be what he means when he says the GOP has a plan of their own.

VIDEO of a show about nothing: The Boehner on CNN

By GottaLaff

PLEASE NOTE: If the videos don't show up, it's because YouTube is "under maintenance". Good timing, right after Sunday talkers, YT. Way to make our lives easier.

Drinking game: Take a slug every time The Boehner avoids answering a question and/or distorts actual, you know, facts:

Where's that Rushpublic health care plan again, John Boy? Talk about a show about nothing...

Summers to Boehner: Economy on Path to Recovery

By GottaLaff

Larry Summers slapped The Boehner upside the head. Subscription only, so here is a dollop of story:
White House economic adviser Lawrence Summers fired back at House Republicans on Monday with a lengthy — and positive — assessment of the Obama administration’s economic policies. In a letter to House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio), Summers said, “[W]e have walked a substantial distance back from the economic abyss and are on the path toward economic recovery.”
Oh come on. Anyone could have pulled us out of a mental recession. All it takes is a finger snap or two. I'm sure had J Sid McCain been elected, he would have performed miracles.

Quote-O'-The-Moment: Keith Olbermann describes John Boehner

Just now on Countdown, Keith Olbermann just described The Boehner. Here's a paraphrase, but awfully close to verbatim:
You know why he has that fake tan, right? Because without it he'd be so transparent you could see the wall behind him.

Boehner and Cantor: "We are proud to serve with Congresswoman Michele Bachmann"

By GottaLaff

http://e.static.blip.tv/TheUptake-BachmannNotAllCulturesAreEqual860.jpg

You know, I was going to get all snarky and amusing and make a few Cantor/Boner jokes. However, nothing can top their own words (see letter below).
Last week, Politico reported that House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-OH) and Whip Eric Cantor (R-VA) were worried about “the possible damage inflicted on the party’s reputation by bomb-throwing Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.).” [...] However, conservative blogger Andy Aplikowski received a letter from Boehner and Cantor in which they denied the Politico report, asserting their full support for Bachmann.
Here's the letter:

Dear Andy,

We wanted to respond to your letter to us last week and to assure you that regardless of what inside-the-beltway media writes or what unnamed “sources” it quotes, we are proud to serve with Congresswoman Michele Bachmann.

She has been a consistent and strong voice for the American taxpayer in Washington from the day she took office. And, despite the taunts and insults that the media elites and liberals hurl at her, she never wavers in her commitment to fiscal responsibility.

Republicans in Congress – buoyed by the American people who have risen up against the Democrat tide in Washington – are fighting against bad policies. Their health care prescription is bad policy. Their cap and trade national energy tax is bad policy. Their tax-and-spend agenda is bad policy. We’re strong in our opposition and vibrant in the alternatives we offer.

Republicans have real solutions. And, that includes Congresswoman Bachmann, who has introduced positive solutions for health care reform, budget reform, energy independence, and more. We’re the Party of real hope and change.

When the other side can’t come up with arguments to defend their policies, they turn to personal attacks against their detractors. Congresswoman Bachmann stands shoulder to shoulder with her constituents and that really seems to irk some on the left. We fully expect that despite the best attempts of the media and the liberals, Michelle will continue to be a strong voice for freedom, smaller government, and better solutions.

Sincerely,

John Boehner
Republican Leader

Eric Cantor
Who needs comedy writers when you have the team of Cantor and Boehner?

The Minnesota Independent reports that Boehner had briefly posted the Bachmann letter on his website, but it now appears to be gone.

See? Hilarious!

VIDEO: Boehner Admits Obama Is Not A Socialist

By GottaLaff

Initially, when I saw The Boehner say this on the Tee Vee Machine, I was hopping up and down, all a-dither and a-gog at the apparent gotcha:

Of course, all my a-ditherage and a-gogitude was tempered by The Boehner's little tap dancery implication, "Hey, I'm not the one who said it, I won't call him that. I'm simply the bizarrely bronzed, orange-faced good cop, but hey, if Michael Steele wants to lie, it's fine by me."

And then there's this little nugget:

Boehner is lying. He has said that what Obama and Democratic leaders are doing is socialism. From his speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference a few months ago:

Well, the stimulus, the omnibus, the budget — it’s all one big down payment on a new American socialist experiment. … All of these bills seek to replace our economic freedom with the whims and mandates of politicians and bureaucrats.

Basically, Boehner admitted today that all he was doing there was fear-mongering and attempting to scare the public for political gain.

Today on CNN’s State of the Union, Obama responded to these charges from conservative leaders, stating, “You know, I’m amused. I can’t tell you how many foreign leaders who are heads of center-right governments say to me, I don’t understand why people would call you socialist, in my country, you’d be considered a conservative.”

RepubliQuotes

Rushpublics provide so much entertainment! They're better than party clowns! Why, I bet they can make balloon animals out of each other!

Look! Here's a balloon monkey now:
http://www.gospelballoons.com/images/r12-4.jpg
Sen. James Inhofe (R-OK) admitted that his vote to oppose Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor was a “foregone conclusion” eleven years before she was even nominated:

“That was a foregone conclusion,” the Oklahoma Republican said, citing his 1998 opposition to Sotomayor’s nomination to her current post.

As for The Boehner, well he's just a squeaky little twisted balloon --http://moblog.delicategeniusblog.com/wp-photos/20061127-021211-1.jpg--um, elephant?
Boehner admitted that such stimulus projects do, in fact, "create much-needed jobs":

The stated intent of the so-called stimulus package was to create jobs, and certainly a $57 million slush-fund studying projects did nothing to achieve that goal. With Ohio’s unemployment rate the highest it’s been in 25 years, I’m pleased that federal officials stepped in to order Ohio to use all of its construction dollars for shovel-ready projects that will create much-needed jobs.

Those silly, wacky, zany clowns, always popping out with the darndest things. Pop!

Opposite Day: Blow to GOP--U.S. Chamber heaps praise on Dems

By GottaLaff

But.. but... Big Biz loves them the Rushpublics, right? ::sniffle, quavery voice:: Ri-i-ght?
The Chamber of Commerce is publicly thanking Democrats who took political risks for supporting the economic stimulus package, striking yet another blow to the traditional alliance of Republicans and big business.

The Chamber broke with the GOP to support the $787 billion stimulus package, angering some Republicans who have long thought of Big Business as an ally.
Yes. ::snurfle:: It's true. They broke up. First, Bristol and Levi, now Chamber and Rushpublicans. ::blubber glubber blurble:: The world as they know it has gone completely topsy turvey on them. Waaaah!
Late last month, House Minority Leader John A. Boehner (R-Ohio) told reporters that he “wasn’t happy” with the Chamber’s support for the bill.
Note to The Faux-Tanned Boehner: Think about investing in Kleenex.

VIDEO: Crankypants GOP leader Boehner throws stimulus bill on House floor

By GottaLaff

Whiny little NoNo Repubabies throw things when they're mad:

A simple "nay" vote wasn't enough for Republican Congressman John Boehner this afternoon, as the $787 billion stimulus package headed toward passage: While speaking before C-SPAN cameras, the House leader had to toss all 1,073 pages of the bill onto the august chamber's floor in disgust.

Holding a massive white stack of paper in his hand, Boehner registered his disdain -- shared by every other Republican House member, all of whom voted against the bill -- by noting that no one has read it. [...]

"Our [Republican] ideas weren't considered," Boehner said. "We weren't allowed in the room. We weren't allowed to participate at all. And all the talk about bipartisanship that we have heard over the last several months went down the drain."
Waa-a-ah! Someone go get the Boehner his wittle Boehner Binky.

Oh, and I guess Baby BoehnHead forgot about this.
