Bill O'Reilly's writing Obama book

Holy crap, that's going to be a bold, fresh piece o'something, that's for sure.

Bill O'Reilly, currently on his "100 months at #1" media tour, told Cindy Adams that he has another book in the works.

"My next book, out the latter part of 2010, is on Obama," O'Reilly said. "He's becoming a historical figure not because he's black, but because his liberal agenda is taking the country in a direction we've never been before."

Palin's Peeved at Political Punch

By GottaLaff

(via)
In the news again. Poor Limelight Palin! Or should I say, Grabby McEarmark? This news cycle, it's Jake Tapper who got her all upset. Not being one to take sass like his lying down [Laffy Note to self: Forgo mother-of-five "lying down" jokes here], she sic'd her flunky on him, that's how mad she was. The truth hurts, doesn't it, Grabby?
A very irate aide to Gov. Sarah Palin contacted ABC News today to explain why his boss's 31 requests for earmarks in the fiscal year 2009 budget, totaling $197 million, represent a victory for fiscally conservative values.

"I am disturbed by this item," wrote Bill McAllister, director of communications for Gov. Palin, referencing a blog entry from last night in which we referred to an article in the liberal magazine Mother Jones noting that Palin -- after what seemed like a campaign against earmark abuse -- was back at the proverbial trough.

"The headline [link] doesn't seem very dignified for a major news organization,"said the spokesman for the governor who repeatedly referred to then-Senator, now-President Obama as "palling around with terrorists." He also quibbled with our referencing Mother Jones. (We also reference conservative publications here. But anyway.)

"Let's start with the overwhelming mischaracterization of Gov. Palin's stance on earmarks that has been repeated and repeated since Aug. 29," McAllister wrote. "The governor never said that earmarks should be abolished or that the State of Alaska wouldn't seek or accept any. Didn't happen. What she said well before she was a national candidate (going back at least to October of 2007) was that earmark reform was necessary and the state would need to rely less on federal money than it had been."

McAllister then pointed out that Palin made 51 earmark requests for the FY 2008 budget, totaling $256 million; and 31 requests totaling $197 million, for the FY 2009 budget.

McAllister said that for next year's budget, Gov. Palin will only make eight requests, totaling $69 million, which will include "six ongoing federal appropriations and just two new projects: an upgrade at the Kodiak Missile Defense Facility, which is relevant to national security, and a bridge replacement critical to construction of the pending Alaska natural gas pipeline, also in the national interest." [...]

"She has spoken out on reform of the federal process, and it is a disservice to her that her position was so egregiously mis-reported last year and that those same false stories are now being used to make her look like a hypocrite -- adding insult to injury, quite literally."

Alarmed, I asked McAllister how Palin was "literally" injured. Was she okay? Was she infirm?

"I didn't say physically injured," he wrote back. "Certainly her reputation was injured by the erroneous reporting." [...]

In any case, the point is, Gov. Palin as a vice presidential candidate claimed that she "championed reform to end the abuses of earmark spending of Congress."

And yet, she has asked for and is still asking for -- and receiving -- tens millions of dollars in earmarks [...]

Including [...] moneys for alcohol bootlegging interdiction and North Pacific fisheries programs.
Yes, all that erroneous reporting is what's injuring what's left of her stellar reputation. It was nothing she's done, said (er, tried to say), or insinuated. Glad we cleared that up. It would be a shame if she began her 2012 campaign with any misunderstandings.

David Vitter: "Do you know who I am?!"

By GottaLaff

http://peoplegetready.jockamofeenanay.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2007/11/pgr_vitties_375.jpg
David Vitter has diaper issues, hooker issues, Obama-phobia issues, planned parenthood issues and now drive-by tantruming issues. Harrumph!
Vitter arrived 20 minutes before the plane was scheduled to depart, and found the gate locked. He then opened the door, setting off the alarm and inviting the attention of an airline worker:
Vitter, our spy said, gave the airline worker an earful, employing the timeworn "do-you-know-who-I-am" tirade that apparently grew quite heated.

That led to some back and forth, and the worker announced to the irritable Vitter that he was going to summon security.

Vitter, according to the witness, remained defiant, yelling that the employee could call the police if he wanted to and their supervisors, who, presumably, might be more impressed with his Senator's pin.

But after talking a huffy big game, Vitter apparently thought better of pushing the confrontation any further. When the gate attendant left to find a security guard, Vitter turned tail and simply fled the scene.
Apparently, he also has cowardice issues.

UPDATE-- The Dems are all over the Senator Hooker incident:
The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee is putting heat on Louisiana Sen. David Vitter for a reported run-in with a Dulles Airport employee last Thursday as he scrambled to make a flight back to his home state.

Sooner or later Senator Vitter should learn how to control himself,” said Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee spokesman Eric Schultz, in an apparent reference to the Louisiana Republican's past involvement with Deborah Jeane Palfrey, the so-called "DC Madam." [...]

But Vitter suggested Wednesday the report was overblown.

"In a rush to make my flight home for town hall meetings the next day, I accidentally went through a wrong door at the gate," Vitter said in a statement first reported by The Times-Picayune. "I did have a conversation with an airline employee, but it was certainly not like this silly gossip column made it out to be."

Silly gossip indeed! But, just for the sake of argument, let's assume the report was exaggerated. That would be outrageous! Criminal! Completely unfair and unjust! Scandalous! I mean, it's not like the Rushpublicans would ever play fast and loose with the facts if the tables were turned.

Never mind.

Conservative Kathy Shaidle: "Today's 'poor' are fat, slovenly, wasteful of their money and other people's"

By GottaLaff

http://img.wonkette.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/homelesscellphone.jpg
Wowzers, kiddies! Here's a Rushpublic I'd never heard of before! And for good reason. Her name: Kathy Shaidle. Hold onto your hats. You're in for a bumpy ride.

Remember Paddy's post, a video of Michelle Obama volunteering at a soup kitchen? What a sap the First Lady was! I bet you didn't realize that poor folks are really cell-phone hoarding, tattooed boozers. Via Wonkette, without whom I'd have never have been introduced to this:
So now America’s conservative pundits are very upset that this supposedly homeless man has a telephone, so poverty isn’t actually a problem, and we’re even “blessed” to have such rich homeless people in the United States.
As promised, he-e-e-ere's Kathy! (who is also mentioned in this Salon post)
[W]hy is a guy with a cellphone homeless? [...]

He spends all his (our) money on cellphones and, most likely, tattoos and drugs and booze and other crap, and has no money left for a home and food. And why should he bother? We pay for his shelter and food anyhow. [...]

What's really funny in that news story by the way is what they're serving at the soup kitchen: risotto with brocolli. Obviously some rich white liberal did the cooking that day, feeling all proud of herself, and what thanks did she get? Some lowclass loser going, "You expect me to eat this weird crap?!"

But oops:

As Salon’s Alex Koppelman notes, the “weird crap” is simply “rice cooked in chicken stock with some vegetables.” Jesus, this Shaidle person is a night terror. WHO IS SHE?

Our new bff, that big-hearted, charitable, humanitarian sack of malignant wordplay, Kindly Kathy:

And Salon's Alex Koppelman is obviously a delusional liberal pantywaist who can't stand to have his romantic notions about "poverty" challenged (by someone who knows what they're talking about firsthand, and is also a better writer than he is.)

I'd rather be right than "nice" and "polite" -- and so would any intelligent adult who values the truth.

I'm betting Alex Koppelman is a grown man who still rides a bicycle. By choice. On the sidewalk.

I'm thrilled. That line is going to look SO great on my next book jacket.

Between that and my handgun license coming in the mail this aft, this is turning into my favorite day in a long time!

Aren't the Rushpublics compassionate? Who could resist that kind of charm? Let's file this one under "2010".

Grandma Palin Says Levi Johnston Is Not a High School Dropout

By GottaLaff

http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2008/CRIME/12/19/palin.boyfriend/art.palin.gi.jpg
I wonder if Levi and Bristol will take correspondence courses in birth control:
Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, the former Republican vice presidential candidate, says her future son-in-law is not a high school dropout as the press is reporting.

Palin told The Associated Press on Wednesday that 18-year-old Levi Johnston is enrolled in high school through a correspondence program.

Palin said some media outlets also are erroneously reporting that her 18-year-old daughter, Bristol, is a high school dropout. The governor said her daughter is enrolled in regular high school and also has taken correspondence courses.

I'm sure the press is Tripping all over themselves to make the correction: Levi is not a high school dropout. Nosireebob.

He's just a hormone-laden jock and the very high school-educated son of a drug dealer, who got his equally overzealous, high school-educated girlfriend/daughter of a phony family values, inarticulate vice presidential candidate, pregnant out of wedlock.

The perfect role models. Especially now that we know they are not high school dropouts. That would have been a deal-breaker.

The ugly Bush stain: Interior Dep't. tainted nearly every decision on endangered species

By GottaLaff

This ugly Bush stain isn't from one of his New Rules. No, this one has some major history and is one of the biggest, ugliest, most horrendous stains imaginable:
A high-ranking Interior Department official tainted nearly every decision made on the protection of endangered species over five years, a new inspector general report finds, concluding she exerted improper political interference on many more rulings than previously thought.

Julie MacDonald, a former deputy assistant secretary overseeing the Fish and Wildlife Service, did pervasive harm to the department's morale and integrity and may have risked the well-being of species with her agenda, Interior Inspector General Earl Devaney said in his report out Monday.

Okay, stop right there. "May have risked the well-being of species with her agenda". Species. In other words, she played god. But her god isn't kind and loving. Her god kills in huge numbers. How's that for compassion?

The Interior Department last year reversed seven rulings that denied endangered species increased protection, after an investigation found that MacDonald had applied political pressure in those cases. The new report looked at nearly two dozen other endangered species decisions not examined in the earlier report. It found MacDonald directly interfered with at least 13 decisions and indirectly affected at least two more.

MacDonald, a civil engineer with no formal training in natural sciences, resigned in May 2007. Department employees reported that they used her name as a verb — encountering political interference from senior managers was called "getting MacDonalded."

I'd like to tell her to get Cheney'd.

She resigned weeks after the report by Devaney last year found that she broke federal rules and should face punishment for leaking information about endangered species to private groups. That report also said MacDonald censored science and mistreated staff.
What a perfect person to have been given unlimited power over living beings, including her own staff.

The new investigation reaffirmed those findings and said MacDonald's influence was even more far-reaching. It also faulted her boss, former Assistant Secretary Craig Manson, as well as several other high-ranking Interior officials, including Randal Bowman, a special assistant to Manson, and Thomas Graf, a department lawyer. [...]

Rep. Nick Rahall, D-W.Va., said the findings "paint a picture of something akin to a secret society residing within the Interior Department that was colluding to undermine the protection of endangered wildlife and covering for one another's misdeeds."

She should be dropped off at the North Pole. Let's see if she does as well as the polar bears.
