"...how far astray the so-called conservative movement has drifted"
By GottaLaff

Dither or blather?
Re “Ditherer in chief,” Opinion, Oct. 18
It took President George W. Bush a number of years to put us in the difficult global position we now face. And, of course, as with so many others, John Bolton wants to conveniently blame this entire mess on President Obama by disingenuously asserting that by now the president should have all of his global chess pieces in place.
By his logic, Bolton seems to think that the president, in less than one year in office, should fully understand all of the nuances of each world leader he deals with, and in turn, they should acquiesce to any pressure he should want to exert.
This ignorance and arrogance is what has stymied recent American foreign policy goals; the rest of the world has come to resent such strident hubris.
As a failed ambassador to the United Nations, Bolton's attitude should come as no surprise to anyone.
*****
I am all in favor of reasonable debate and expression of opinion, but the published opinion by Bolton concerning the Obama foreign policy is a nonsensical collection of rambling gibberish.
I believe that there is a legitimate debate to be had concerning U.S. policy, but you are doing no side or perspective any favors by airing uninformed emotional outbursts by this seemingly unbalanced individual.
I assume that you are merely allowing him to embarrass himself and those who take a similar view. Or perhaps it merely represents how far astray the so-called conservative movement has drifted.

Bolton's "Ditherer in chief" is good. A "decider" like George W. Bush is just what we need. Look how well all those quick, decisive decisions worked out.

VIDEO--Even After North Korea Frees Americans, Bolton Says Clinton Trip Was Mistake
By GottaLaff
Black is white, up is down, smart is stupid, Rushpublics are sane:
On CNN this afternoon, nonproliferation expert and Ploughshares Fund president Joe Cirincione explained why Clinton’s trip is not rewarding bad behavior:
CIRINCIONE: The Obama administration seems to have played North Korea just about right — largely ignoring them for the first eight months, not rewarding their bad behavior, not reacting to their provocative statements or actions and now after about two months of relatively quiet, moderate North Korean behavior and the involvement of China…you now send in a real power player to hopefully negotiate the release of the journalists…and help reset U.S.-North Korean relations, refreezing that nuclear program and if things work out we could see the beginning again of the dismantlement of that nuclear program.

Check out some of the exciting speakers!!!
Hon. John Bolton, Bay Buchanan, , Stephen Green, Margaret Hoover, Andrew Klavan, Deroy Murdock, Alfonzo Rachel, Roger Simon, Joe Wurzelbacher (ask Joe the Plumber), Rep. Mike Pence, Hon. Mike Huckabee, John Ziegler (wonder if he'll be scoping out the chicks?), and Rep. Michelle Bachmann. There's alot more, go on and check it out for yourself. Good stuff.

Even John Bolton questions McCain's foreign policy
By GottaLaff
None of this really matters, because McFlippy will change his policies within the next hour or so anyway. And then change them back again. Not all American conservatives are so enamored of Republican John McCain’s calls to kick Russia out of the G-8, or to establish a “League of Democracies” to counter the United Nations.
Former U.N. ambassador John Bolton, a McCain supporter, joined some Democratic critics Tuesday by saying the expulsion of Moscow from the G-8 simply wasn’t feasible. [...]
Bolton also voiced skepticism about any new U.S. administration successfully promoting a League of Democracies to offset the power of the United Nations on international issues. [...]McCain in recent days has continued to push his League of Democracies as a potential cornerstone of his foreign policy agenda. He’s also stuck to his call for Russia to be expelled from the G-8.
And again.
And it will all be caught on tape.
And McFlippy will deny any of it ever took place.
And the corporate media will ignore all of that and concentrate their attention on Barack Obama's "overconfidence".

John Sidney McCain's chief strategist: Another terrorist attack “would be a big advantage to him”
By GottaLaff
Now, McCain’s chief strategist, Charlie Black, tells Fortune that the “unfortunate event” of Bhutto’s death “helped us.” Asked if another terrorist attack on U.S. soil would help McCain as well, Black told Fortune that it would be “a big advantage to him“:Let's recap: George Bush, Bill Kristol and John Bolton think that attacking Iran will help McDeathToll, and now his own chief strategist holds out hope that an attack right here in the U.S.A would boost his numbers. The assassination of Benazir Bhutto in December was an “unfortunate event,” says Black. “But his knowledge and ability to talk about it reemphasized that this is the guy who’s ready to be Commander-in-Chief. And it helped us.” As would, Black concedes with startling candor after we raise the issue, another terrorist attack on U.S. soil. “Certainly it would be a big advantage to him,” says Black.
Update: Kevin Drum also points out that when asked about the "gravest long-term threat to the U.S. economy," McCain replies, "Islamic extremism."
These so-called patriots have concluded that the only way McDeathToll can win is if innocent people are blown to smithereens. Great message. Keep repeating it. There's nothing more effective in a presidential campaign than a slogan like, "Change you can kill for!"

Bomb, bomb, bomb Iran... before January 2009
By GottaLaff
These two videos are, to say the least, scary. First, Bill Kristol's opining that Bush would bomb Iran if he thought Obama was winning:
Next, the always lovely John Bolton's drumbeat. Boombadaboombada... BOOM:
Bolton has said he is backing John McCain because he would handle the Iranian nuclear program in a “stronger” way than the Bush administration.John McCain didn't realize what a hit he had when he sang his little Iran ditty. Unfortunately, associating the word "hit" with John Sidney McWarHappy has a double meaning.
