I haven't spoken with my father since he told me a little over a month ago that he "couldn't vote for Obama." He squawks a lot about "disrespecting the Clintons," and a little about "not knowing who he is." But, I suspect that race has a lot to do with it (which he denies). The conversation was infuriating. I slammed the phone down after telling him to "grow the fuck up."
My sister has since told me that she's had a few run ins with him as well on the matter. He told her that, "he hasn't earned my vote yet."
I know he's not a Clinton devotee. A two-time Perot supporter, he never even voted for the Bill. He only came around to liking him during the impeachment mess.
On the bright side, he told me that there's "no chance in hell" he'd vote for McCain. But, otherwise, I've given up on him. I figure Obama will win without his sorry ass, and a few years from now when he thinks Barack is the greatest thing since sliced bread, I'll mock him endlessly for finally coming around (like he did with Bill).
Excellent. Yesterday at doctor's I heard a young man working on his Rep mom. She kept trying to dodge him and he was determined to break her of her Rep addiction. Didn't have to interrupt him once, just sat there with a shit eating grin on my face listening to him, she didn't have a chance.
My problem was just getting my family to vote.... i mean I didn't have to sale Obama I just had to convince them that their vote really did count. I mean I don't even talk to them unless they tell me they registered and during the primaries we had early voting and I would curse them for not voting they would be like I got 2 weeks and I would say "then BITCH don't call me untill you do it" ( my little sister and we joke like that some times) My neice, I would tell her if she hadn't voted yet not to call me because I wasn't gonna answer it. She said well how will you know to answer I told her to put it on my machine and after I listen and heard that she had indeed voted I would call her back. ( I told them I could check online.) They know I am dead serious

I would have loved to hear the young man at the doctor's office! I'm still working on my brother (Missouri) and Dad (Florida). We need those votes!
