Russ Feingold -- one of the most outspoken voices for denying immunity to the telecoms and keeping the FISA law within the bounds of the Constitution-- is still optimistic about the Democratic nominee, despite Obama's vote in favor of the bill. He feels that as president, Obama would correct and "change this mistake", and once in office, would "take the lead in fixing some of the worst provisions." Feingold is clearly not happy about the way things went, but still hopes for change.
If Russ Feingold can get past his disappointment over the FISA vote, and start looking ahead to 2009, then so can the rest of us.
