Bring the kids! White supremacist rally in L.A.

By GottaLaff

The L.A. weather will been nice this Saturday, clear blue skies, mid-sixties, a perfectly lovely day for an outing with the kiddies.

Don't forget to bring your hoods!

The LAPD is planning a large deployment of officers for a planned white supremacist rally at Los Angeles City Hall on Saturday, which will be met by more than a hundred counter-protesters.

The National Socialist Movement will be there, too! Won't that be fun? Why, teaching the young 'uns to rumble could be educational! I just adore an instructive outing, especially in my home town.

The LAPD is bringing in specially trained crowd control officers and plans to create a buffer if necessary to prevent any violence between the groups.

Nothing says family fun like spending a beautiful spring afternoon with white supremacists. Enjoy your weekend!

President Obama kept a promise. He said he'd donate his Nobel Prize money to charities, and he did exactly that.

You know what that makes him, don't you?

More proof of Michele Bachmann's hypocrisy

By GottaLaff

Hyp. O. Crite:
Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) -- "known for her anti-government tea-bagger antics, protesting health care reform and every other government handout as socialism" -- received $251,000 in government handouts for her family farm, according to TruthDig.
You know what this makes her, don't you? A... socialist!

I cannot wait for her to babble herself through this one. Video. I want video!

17 socialists, 1 dufus

By GottaLaff

Hide the kids! Duck and cover! Call the cops! Help! Fire!
Rep. Spencer Bachus, the top Republican on the Financial Services Committee, told a hometown crowd in Alabama today he believes there are several socialists in the House. [...]
But he said he is worried that he is being steered too far by the Congress: "Some of the men and women I work with in Congress are socialists."

Asked to clarify his comments after the breakfast speech at the Trussville Civic Center, Bachus said 17 members of the U.S. House are socialists.
He didn't name them.

Does anyone remember an "S" after anyone's name? Does anyone remember why Bachus got elected? Does anyone believe that Bachus can count to 17?

AUDIO: President Obama answers the question, "Are you a socialist?"

By GottaLaff

President Obama did something a little unusual. He actually called the New York Times back-- on his own-- after he had completed an interview. That's crazy! Who would do anything so conscientious?

Usually, it’s President Obama (or one of his aides) who ends the interview, leaving reporters clamoring for more. Indeed, Robert Gibbs, his press secretary, cut off the president’s exclusive interview with The Times on Friday after about 35 minutes.

But less than 90 minutes after Air Force One landed, the telephone rang. President Obama called The Times’s Jeff Zeleny, wanting to add one more point to a response he gave during the interview.[...]

When he called, he said he had been thinking about the question as he boarded the helicopter taking him back to the White House.
Yes, this president actually uses his brain, processes information, communicates, and even realizes when he hasn't been thorough, or even collected his thoughts enough, and takes the time to explain himself more accurately. Kinda hard to fathom, huh?

President Obama’s Response to the Original Question: “Are You a Socialist?”

He called the Times back and followed up. Here's the call:

Zing!

All my new found respect for Chris Matthews just disapeared

I cannot believe after the drubbing he gave Bachman last week that he just let Tom Delay blather on in the exact same vein with no rebuttal. I'll get the video as soon as I can.

Here's the vid. All I can say is thank g-d for Debbie W-S.

Sarah the Socialist: "So we share in the wealth..."

By GottaLaff

Well, now, this kinda puts a crimp in IWRC* Palin's message, doesn't it now?

But Palin’s criticisms of Obama’s “spread the wealth” remarks are ironic, as she recently characterized Alaska’s tax code in a very similar way. Just last month, in an interview with Philip Gourevitch of the New Yorker, Palin explained the windfall profits tax that she imposed on the oil industry in Alaska as a mechanism for ensuring that Alaskans “share in the wealth” generated by oil companies:

And Alaska—we’re set up, unlike other states in the union, where it’s collectively Alaskans own the resources. So we share in the wealth when the development of these resources occurs. … It’s to maximize benefits for Alaskans, not an individual company, not some multinational somewhere, but for Alaskans.

In fact, Alaska’s Clear and Equitable Share (ACES) program, which manages the redistribution of oil wealth in Alaska, brings in so much money that the state needs no income or sales tax. In addition, this year ACES will provide every Alaskan with a check for an estimated $3,200.

As Hendrick Hertzberg notes, “Perhaps there is some meaningful distinction between spreading the wealth and sharing it…but finding it would require the analytic skills of Karl the Marxist.”

Uh-oh. Don't look now, but IWRC is looking a little Commie-ish.

Gramm-pa McCain: Middle class tax cut is "welfare", uses "S-Word"

By GottaLaff

Middle class tax cuts are equivalent to welfare? Really, Gramm-pa? Hmm. Not so much. Actually, that word more likely describes what we'll all need if you manage to become--gulp--president:

John McCain stepped up his rhetoric against Barack Obama on taxes in his weekly radio address, comparing his plan to 'socialist' programs that would “convert the IRS into a giant welfare agency, redistributing massive amounts of wealth.”

[H]is most recent comments were the first time he directly invoked the word 'socialist.'

In the radio address that aired Saturday morning, McCain didn't directly call Obama a socialist, but he let the now-famous Joe 'the Plumber' Wurzelbacher nearly do it for him.

That must be the same Joe the Plumber who he apologized to on the Letterman show for, you know, all that needless, imposing media attention. It's good to see he's keeping shy, retiring Fake Plumber Joe out of the spotlight. Way to be consistent.

“You see, [Obama] believes in redistributing wealth, not in policies that help us all make more of it. Joe in his plainspoken way, said this sounded a lot like socialism,” McCain said.

Clearly, Gramm-pa uses Fake Joe the way he uses women... speaking or which:
Republican VP candidate Sarah Palin has used the word in speeches the last two days as well.
I have an S-word I'd like to use right now, but apparently, I have more self-control than Grammps and IWRC* Palin do.

John Sidney McCain wonders if Obama is a socialist

By GottaLaff

J Sid "doesn't know" if Obama is a socialist. I can relate to his confusion. I don't know if J Sid has dementia, is a golddigging opportunist, a hypocrite, belligerent, and an insensitive, tasteless nincompoop:
John McCain on Thursday described Barack Obama’s Senate record as “more to the left” than Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont — an independent who caucuses with Democrats but has described himself as an “independent Democratic socialist.”
I guess in all his confusion, J Sid forgot about this, this, and this.

During his town hall meeting with voters in Kansas City yesterday, McCain said, “Senator Obama has the most extreme record of any member of the United States Senate.

In an interview after the event, The Kansas City Star asked him to clarify the remark.

“His voting record … is more to the left than the announced socialist in the United States Senate, Bernie Sanders of Vermont,” McCain answered, according the paper.

Asked if he thought Obama was a socialist, McCain answered: “I don’t know. All I know is his voting record, and that’s what people usually judge their elected representatives by.”

Want to know what else they look for, J Sid? Good judgment, acuity, and wisdom. Voting with Bush 95% of the time pretty much destroys that maverick image you've worked so hard to achieve. Time to stop throwing labels around, get back on the Fake Talk Express, and drive off into the sunset.
