Senate Republicans may offer their own measure to overhaul Wall St.

According to Republicans, size matters:

I can picture them now, counting the number of pages, because that's all that really counts:

Republican aides said they may quickly offer an alternate measure that has been in drafting for months.

“We have been drafting an alternate approach from the very beginning,” an aide said.

Asked whether Republicans would offer an alternate bill, an aide said it is possible. “I think so, yes,” the aide said.

I wonder how many meetings with Big Bankers it took to come up with something lucrative enough to agree on.

Palin pitching TV show

Pitchy McClueless, who belongs in UNreality Tee Vee, is pitching a documentary. This could be a first! And by that I mean, the first time she approaches anything near the truth:

While Palin and famed reality TV producer Mark Burnett are in New York and Los Angeles this week meeting with six networks about a new series - a story first reported Wednesday by Entertainment Weekly - the source emphasized that the show would be a "Planet Earth-style" documentary about Alaska.

Palin, the 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee, will likely be featured in the show, the source said. But the source added that "it's not going to be focused on her family, or in her house, or in Wasilla.

Good move. Especially because her house(s) don't exactly help her credibility issues.

"She is just going to use her name to help produce and promote the show," said the source, who spoke on the condition of anonymity. [...]

"This is not 'The Osbournes Go North'," said the source, referencing the MTV reality show that featured rock singer Ozzy Osbourne's family. "This is not a reality show based on the Palins."

How clever that they're going out of their way to convince us that Pitchy and her family are not-- repeat, not-- the focus of the show.

A memo must have gone out to avoid them at all costs.

Harry Reid Gets Potentially Big Break in Nevada

The Big Break?

Jon Ralston reports the Tea Party has qualified as a third party in Nevada and will have a candidate in the U.S. Senate race.

Assuming the Tea Party candidate would draw votes away from the Republican candidates, it may be just the thing Sen. Harry Reid (D-NV) needs to win in a race where he's run behind in polls for months.

Can anything save Harry at this point? Stay tuned...

Parents and relatives don’t, and didn’t, get to place birth announcements in the Honolulu Advertiser or the Honolulu Star-Bulletin. As a Star-Bulletin employee explained to WorldNetDaily, the editors “print what we receive from the Department of Health Vital Statistics System,” and did so in 1961. And the Advertiser worked the same way.

What the Foxx? The sequel: Virginia Foxx issues second non-apology

To refresh your memory...

This woman is Foxxed-up beyond repair. Here she goes again:

[L]ocal Winston-Salem TV station WXII12 News released an exclusive interview with embattled Rep. Virginia Foxx, whose malicious comments about the circumstances surrounding the murder of Matthew Shepard have caused scorn and anger, and, according to her office, ten death threats. [...]

“In the heat of trying to handle the rule on the floor, anybody can use a bad choice of words. Saying that the event was a hoax was a poor choice of words,” Foxx said. “I’ve apologized for that. I never meant in any way to harm the family or offend the family or anybody else for that matter.”

Hardly a change from yesterday’s statement:

“The term ‘hoax’ was a poor choice of words used in the discussion of the hate-crimes bill,” Foxx said in a statement. “Mr. Shepard’s death was nothing less than a tragedy, and those responsible for his death certainly deserved the punishment they received.”

One non-apology is bad, two demonstrates not only a lack of remorse or decency, but a total lack of understanding of the important and sensitive issues that confront out country.

Another indication?

“It is very unfortunate that these calls have come in. I would say 99 percent of them are from outside the district and it is unfortunate that people have taken this position.”

[...] Rep. Foxx is under the mistaken concept that she is the Representative for her district. She does not grasp the fact that she is a United States Congresswoman who may be elected by a portion of the citizens of North Carolina, but she represents every American.

“What I hope my constituents know is that I’m in Washington ever day that I’m required to be there, working hard for them, doing the best to make sure that the federal government doesn’t take away their rights and their money.”

We’re thrilled she goes to work every day. She’s lucky to have a job.

Here's what Matthew Shepard's mother said:

On Thursday, Judy Shepard reacted to Foxx's comments. "She's apologizing for semantics," Judy Shepard said.

Nothing can make up for the message that this motherFoxxer put out there. Nothing. But at least she could make a sincere attempt at a real apology. She could start and end with the words "I'm sorry."

Even that would be too little, too late. Now it's just too late.

Palin Wants to Write a Book

Grandma NitWit might want to learn to write (she apparently hasn't learned to speak yet) before she attempts to put pen to paper, as it were:

The Hollywood Reporter says Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R) as apparently enlisted the help of Washington attorney Robert Barnett to sell a book proposal.

Barnett has previously brokered book deals for President Barack Obama, former President Bill Clinton and Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton. And he's already handling Obama campaign manager David Plouffe's book about the the 2008 campaign.
