Palin releases letter from family physician

Letter from doctor vs "medical records". Hmmm, oh well it's not going to matter real soon.

(CNN) — After weeks of requests, the McCain-Palin campaign released a letter late Monday night from Sarah Palin's doctor pronouncing the Republican vice presidential nominee in "excellent health" with "no known health problems."

Dr. Cathy Baldwin-Johnson, who had been Palin's physician at the Mat-Su Regional Medical Center since 1997, also said the Alaska governor had had a 1992 biopsy for a breast lesion that was found to be benign. She said Palin was on no routine prescription medications, with no known drug allergies, but that no screening tests for heart disease had been performed because those tests were not routine for “young healthy women with no risk factors.”

"Governor Palin is in excellent health and has no known health problems that would interfere with her ability to carry out the duties and obligation of Vice President of the United States of America," said Baldwin-Johnson in the November 3 letter.

I.W.R.C.* Palin's Medical Records M.I.A.:

With less than 48 hours until polls open, it remains unclear whether GOP vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin will release her medical records.

Nearly a week ago, her spokeswoman Tracey Schmitt said the campaign was preparing "a release of information regarding her medical history" which "will happen sooner rather than later."

No such information has yet been released, and Schmitt did not respond to e-mails seeking comment on the matter.

If nothing else, it confirms to the country what a liar she is.

Governor Palin's campaign still has not released any information regarding her medical records despite frequent requests from the news media and the campaign's own assertion that they would release this information soon.

On Sunday morning, Palin spokeswoman Tracey Schmitt told ABC News that the campaign had planned to release information on her medical history early this week.

Today is Wednesday.

ABC News has asked every day this week about the status of the release of information and received no updates from the campaign. It is unclear what is holding things up. [...]

Aides suggested privately that there was nothing to hide in the records, but that it was simply taking a while to call doctors and round up the appropriate information to release.

But an entire week?

It was last Wednesday that Governor Palin said she would be "fine" with releasing her records.

She is the only one of the presidential or vice presidential candidates who has not released any health information about herself.

Palin did suggest that releasing her records could be fodder for political attacks of some kind.

We've had plenty of fodder for attacks on her so far, so why should this be different? In fact, IWRC is a virtual grab bag of fodder. Songs could even be written about it: "Hello Muddy, Hello Fodder" comes to mind. I'll spare you any original lyrics.

So now we can all look forward to the usual Friday evening dump... as if nobody will notice, right? Happy Fodder's Day.

IWRC* Palin to Release Medical Information Early This Week

I really doubt if there's anything major in IWRC*'s records, given her age, but she should have done this some time ago:

Governor Sarah Palin's campaign plans to release information regarding her medical history early this week, according to campaign spokeswoman Tracey Schmitt.

Schmitt told ABC News by email on Sunday that she was not sure what day the records would be released but it would be "early this week". [...]

She is the only one of the presidential or vice presidential candidates who has not released any health information about herself.

Palin did suggest that releasing her records could be fodder for political attacks of some kind.

"So be it, if that will allow some curiosity seekers, perhaps, to have one more thing that they can either check the box off that they can find something to criticize, perhaps, or find something to rest them assured over. Fine. I'm healthy, I'm happy, had five kids. That is going to be in the medical records. Never been seriously ill or hurt. You will see that in the medical records if they're released," Palin told NBC’s Brian Williams.

Now about Gramm-pa McCain's medical records. When do we get a good, close look at those, hmmm?

Why Won't The McCain Campaign Release Any Of Palin's Medical Records?

All my theories are mean-spirited. What's your theory?

Nothing is known publicly about Ms. Palin’s medical history, aside from the much-discussed circumstances surrounding the birth of her fifth child last April. Ms. Palin has said that her water broke while she was at a conference in Dallas and that she flew to Anchorage, where she gave birth to her son Trig hours after landing.

Last week Maria Comella, a spokeswoman for Ms. Palin, said the governor declined to be interviewed or provide any health records.

A medical Dear John letter...

Dear John,

What we do know is concerning: The Armed Forces Institute of Pathology reviewed the cancer taken off McCain’s head in 2000 and found it to be “highly suggestive of a metastasis of malignant melanoma and may represent a satellite metastasis.” Even with the most optimistic scenario, if McCain has a metastatic malignant melanoma, he has only a 38% chance of surviving past 2010.

McCain had a melanoma taken off his head in 2000 but he has had several other melanoma cancers removed before that. It is not difficult to believe that a previous melanoma could have been the metastasis to the temple that was removed in 2000. If John McCain has a recurrence of melanoma, the attendant surgery with the possibility of chemotherapy is likely to be debilitating.

For these reasons, it is imperative that Americans demand the full and unconditional release of John McCain’s medical records.
