The Tea Baggers are getting nervous

By GottaLaff

Hey chums! Want to join me in some fun? Check out how jittery the Tea Tantrumers are getting.

Via an e-mail, with the subject line: Urgent! Bailout Bob is at it again.

A message to all members of Tea Party Nation

Bailout Bob Corker, (RINO-TN) is at it again

The liberals have three major agendas they want passed this year. The first was health care, the second is financial overhaul and the third is cap and tax.

While the liberals were able to take over 1/6 of the economy with healthcare, they are now trying to take over the remaining 5/6 with "financial reform" legislation.

This bill, written by Chris "Countrywide" Dodd, is a permanent bail out of the financial sector. It provides for advance funding for government take overs of banks. Although Corker denies this, it is a permanent bailout.

Until now, all 41 Republican Senators had stood firm, providing a filibuster that the liberals could not break. Now, that is changing. Corker has been signaling his willingness to work with Chris Dodd. This bill does nothing for the American people. It will only allow the government to control even more of our economy.

Corker needs to hear from all of us, regardless of whether you live in Tennessee. Call his offices as soon as you can and tell him not to compromise with Chris Dodd, and not to support this "financial reform."

Nashville 615-279-8125

Knoxville 865-637-4180

Memphis 901-683-1910

Chattanooga 423-756-2757

Tri-Cities 423-323-1252

Jackson 731-424-9655

Washington DC 202-224-3344

Send this email to your friends and encourage them to call Corker's offices. The Obama/Pelosi/Reid axis of fiscal evil are on the move again and Bailout Bob Corker is the one vote that could stop this.

Call him today!

Exclusive to TPC: "One of the things I learned quickly about Tancredo is that he hated Mexicans"

By GottaLaff

http://img.wonkette.com/images/thumbs/8e3555d639602b4536473d64ee1b8caf.jpg

I got a fascinating e-mail today. I've redacted parts of it to keep the sender anonymous, but I had to share.

Previous posts about Tom Tancredo have shown Rep. Tom (How'd He Get Elected-Colo.) to be a Palin and McCain-dissing, literacy test-endorsing, immigrant/Obama bashing, Ed Show-quitting racist.

Now we see that this mindset goes back, way back, which is not at all surprising. But it is eye-opening. Here is a first hand account of one young man's observations of Then Tancredo. He said others could, but were unwilling or unavailable to, corroborate his story.

With that in mind:

So here's the deal with my history with Tancredo. [...] Tancredo is a petty, mean bastard [...]

Tancredo grew up in North Denver in the 50s and 60s. It had been, for many years, an enclave of Italian and Irish immigrants and their descendants. Tom identified strongly with his Italian community and attended Holy Family High School in North Denver.

During the 60s, Mexicans began moving into North Denver in large numbers and they were seen as interlopers by the Italians. I had lived in cities with large black populations growing up. I had a keen interest in the civil rights movement. When my family settled in Denver I noticed right away that Mexicans were an underclass with white Denverites.

I got a job at Elitch Gardens, an old amusement park in North Denver, the summer [of] 1968 [...]. This is where I met the great Tom Tancredo.

He was kind of the Assistant Manager of the park reporting to a spooky old guy named Bud Brechman. He ran the crew of 15 - 18 year old kids like he was a mob boss. [...] He wore Coke-bottle thick glasses and had thick five o'clock shadow at all times. He was downright swarthy.

One of the things I learned quickly about Tancredo is that he hated Mexicans. Or as he might say it at the time, he hated "spics, beaners, taco benders, and greasers". He had a crew of dull witted, mean spirited lackeys who enforced his every whim.

When the park was crowded, he would tell them, "Let's get rid of some spics, this place is staring to stink." He would routinely seek out Mexicans to harass and eject from the park. He particularly liked having his henchmen humiliate Mexican boys in front of their dates. [...]

There was another amusement park nearby called "Lakeside" that was owned by a woman named Rhoda. It was considered much lower class, Elitch's had beautiful formal gardens and a more white clientèle. Most Mexicans went to Lakeside because they wouldn't be hassled and it was less expensive.

Tancredo would often tell anyone who would listen that all the Mexicans belonged over at "Rhoda's Park" because she didn't mind "wallowing" with them.

Unrelated to his racism but representative of his character -- Tancredo liked to bet on the dog races and he had a big scam going. He would prey on weak, vulnerable, awkward adolescents to participate in his "dog track pool". He preyed on other weak, vulnerable, awkward adolescents with this scam too.

Here was the deal: His henchmen would come around on pay day and ask for your contribution to the pool. Exactly how the pool worked was never really disclosed and no one seemed to win except Tancredo and his buddies. But if you didn't participate, you could find yourself assigned to a ride in kiddie land that repeated that awful friendly dragon song all day long.

So all of this may not be that interesting, but I watched in horror over the years as Tancredo ascended the political ladder.

I moved [...] in the early 70s and watched him build momentum from afar. When he ran for President in 2008 it was almost comical, knowing what a deeply racist jackass he was and how he had morphed into this "legitimate" politician with a concern over immigration issues. Not, racism mind you, just protecting Americans. [...]

I'm sure there are many people who saw him in action at Elitch's, but racism was so prevalent in North Denver in that era that it may not have been remarkable to the average kid who wasn't trying to understand the larger world of race and class.

Here is Tom giving us a personal tour of his old stomping grounds, talking about his days at Elitch's.

Maybe the powers that be over at Discovery will give him his own reality show.

A thank you from Al Franken

By GottaLaff

I love e-mails from Al:

Al Franken - U.S. Senator, Minnesota

Dear Laffy,

What an incredible day.

This afternoon I was at the White House to watch President Obama sign comprehensive health insurance reform into law. This is the change Americans have been demanding for so many years.

Tell your family, friends, and neighbors -- the following reforms to our health insurance system take effect over the first year:

- Health insurance providers cannot deny any child coverage because of a pre-existing condition
- Insurance companies can no longer drop someone when he or she becomes ill
- Young adults can stay on their parents' health insurance plan up to their 27th birthday
- Health Insurers must now reveal how much money is spent on overhead
- New health insurance plans must cover checkups and other preventative care without co-pays
- New measures will be implemented to help eliminate health insurance waste, fraud, and abuse
- Small businesses (fewer than 50 employees) will get tax credits covering up to 50% of premiums
- Seniors on Medicare will get a rebate to fill the "donut hole" in their drug coverage
- Insurers will be required to put more premiums dollars toward actual health care services, not administration, advertising, or profits
- Insurance premium increases will be have to be reviewed and justified
- Lifetime caps on the amount of insurance a person can have will be banned
- A temporary high-risk pool will be set up to cover adults with pre-existing conditions

I would never have been elected to the Senate, and we would never have gotten health reform done, without your unwavering support. This is what real change looks like. Today, from the bottom of my heart -- thank you.

Paul Wellstone said "the future belongs to those who are passionate and work hard." Today is a great day for the people of Minnesota and the country. Because of your passion and hard work, Minnesotans and Americans have a much brighter future than ever before.

Thank you again -- for all you've done, and all you'll do.

Alan Grayson: 72 hours. 66 cosponsors for Medicare Buy-In in the House.

By GottaLaff

Alan Grayson sent me an e-mail. That was so thoughtful. I really should return the favor, wink (bolding is mine):

72 hours. 66 cosponsors in the House. 21,254 citizen cosponsors at WeWantMedicare.com.

The Public Option Act. It's simple. It's popular. 82% of Scott Brown voters favor it. It lets anyone buy into Medicare at cost. You want it, you pay for it, and you're in.

You know and I know that it's a winner.

Private insurers make money denying us the care we need, when we need it most. Medicare doesn't. So we want Medicare. And we want it now.

Ask your Member of Congress to stand up for us. Call your member of Congress now, and ask him or her to cosponsor HR 4789, the Public Option Act.

Call the switchboard: (202) 224-3121

After you call, please let me know how it went. I need to know if your Representative is with us or against us. Tell me how it goes.

This is the week to act. We are likely to vote on a healthcare bill without a public option. We should get a vote on the Public Option Act as well. The four-page bill opens Medicare to all. It's that simple.

Call your member of Congress now, and ask if he or she has the guts to stand up for you.

Call the switchboard: (202) 224-3121

Courage,

Alan

You heard him. Call.

Medicare Buy-In Watch- Alan Grayson: 50 cosponsors & counting...

By GottaLaff

Via an e-mail just now (bolding is mine):

Dear Peggy ,

We want Medicare.

So do 50 cosponsors of my bill, the Public Option Act. That's 50 cosponsors, after just one day.

This list of cosponsors includes five powerful Committee Chairmen: John Conyers, Nydia Velazquez, Barney Frank, Ed Towns, and Bob Filner.

It includes the Chair of the Congressional Black Caucus, the Chair of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, and both Co-Chairs of the Progressive Caucus.

And of course, it includes public option champions Anthony Weiner, Dennis Kucinich, Jared Polis, and Chellie Pingree.

Now THAT'S momentum!

Let's keep it going.

Ask your member of Congress to sign on to HR 4789, the Public Option Act.

You can find your member of Congress and write your message here.

Onward!

Courage,

Rep. Alan Grayson

AKA the "Medicare You Can Buy Into Act."

I bought into it, and I contacted my Congress members. Your turn.

Birther Email Uses Fake AP Story To Question Obama’s Citizenship

By GottaLaff

http://blog.buzzflash.com/files/images/obama%20birth%20cert.jpg

Grasping reality was never the birthers' strong suit:
A phony new email chain letter — one of the antiquated viral sort leftover from the AOL era — is claiming that the case against President Barack Obama’s citizenship has reached the Supreme Court, based on a forged and typo-riddled Associated Press “report.”
If it's anything like this e-mail, then the typos are the norm rather than the exception.

The message claims that college records of Obama’s from Occidental (under the name Barry Soetoro) prove he was receiving aid as a foreign student from Indonesia. But there’s one problem: the “AP” can’t seem to figure out where to put periods, commas or capitalization. Well, maybe there’s more than one problem.

Justice Antonin Scalia announced that the Supreme Court agreed on Tuesday to hear arguments concerning Obama’s legal eligibility to serve as President in a case brought by Leo Donofrio of New Jersey,” the report’s third paragraph begins. Talk about burying the lede. There is also the completely unsubstantiated claim that “Obama has spent upwards of $950,000 in campaign funds in the past year with eleven law firms in 12 states for legal resources to block disclosure of any of his personal records.”
There's more, including the full text of the e-mail. Go here for teh birther stupid in all its entirety and glory.

They can't even concoct a decent lie properly. Come on, if you're going to spread rumors, at least make a minimal effort to make them appear credible.

Pray For Rush Limbaugh!

By GottaLaff

Oh how I love it when Babzter fowards me these e-mails. They bring a smile to my face, warmth to my heart, and evil laughter from deep within:

A message to all members of Team Sarah

Team,

I come to you this evening with serious news about a great American who needs our prayers.

Rush Limbaigh, champion of values such as life, liberty, and the free market, was rushed to the hospital in Hawaii this evening and, according to reports, may be in "serious" condition.

Appranetly, pramedics were called when Rush complained of chest pains and he has been taken to an area hospital.

Members of Team Sarah in the Rush Limbaugh Fans for Sarah Group are following this and you can visit their group to learn more or to offer your own thoughts.

May God be with Ruish Limbaugh and his friends and family, and at this critical hour when voices such as his are refreshing and badly needed, may God be with his fans and the nation.

May Rush recover quickly,

Bill Collier
Team sarah Governace

PS we will be monitering this story and will, hopefully, be sending you and update when we learn that Rush is recovering.

Thank the lordy that Bill is "monitering" this story! For a minute there, I thought nobody cared.

Oh wait. Nobody does.

By the way.. what do "appranetly", "pramedics", and "Governace" mean? Who is this "Ruish" they speak of? And why doesn't "sarah" deserve to get her very own capital S? Oh, how the mighty have fallen.

Now back to watching Rachel Maddow, who IMHO, is so much more "refreshing" than Ruish.

What Al Franken thinks of health care compromise

By GottaLaff

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/huff-wires/20090104/minnesota-senate/images/2de3e4c8-6ac2-4d43-8a9d-c7fa684610a3.jpg

That Al! He just can't stop e-mailing me:

Dear Laffy,

It's not everything we wanted, but it's a good start.

As you've probably heard, on Monday night progressives and moderates reached a compromise to keep health insurance reform moving through the Senate. I still believe that a public health insurance option is the best way to bring down costs, so I was disappointed to learn that it's not part of this agreement. However, there are reasons to be hopeful that this compromise will succeed at keeping premiums down for families.

The plain fact is, we are one step closer to extending health coverage to 31 million Americans and giving some peace of mind to tens of millions more. If this compromise includes proposals I've been fighting for, like ensuring that a higher percentage of premium dollars are spent on health care rather than profits and wasteful administrative costs, we will achieve the end result that I want - high-quality, affordable health coverage for Minnesota families and small businesses.

I'll keep you updated as the bill progresses, as we've still got a ways to go. But there's one thing you can be sure of - Republicans and special interests will be on the attack in Minnesota to make a last ditch attempt to distort, derail, delay, or flat-out kill the reform effort. If you can, please click here to make a contribution of $5 today to help us get our positive message out.

Thanks for all you've done, and all you'll do.

Best,

Al

UPDATED: "You Jewish f***."

By GottaLaff

http://www.miami.muohio.edu/documents_and_policies/nohate/logos/nohatebig.gif

My wonderful pal Joshua has given me permission to cross-post one of his blog entries in full. It is from his site, The Joshua Blog. Joshua is both gay and Jewish. What a crime, huh?

Got this lovely Pulitzer Prize winning gem today from chriskemp (christopherkemp@live.com):

You jewish fuck. Ever read Leviticua? Its a book in what you call the Torah. That means first five books. Anywhoo, you're penchant for sucking other guy's cocks is reason to have your worthless ass stoned.

I would not throw any stones, because I ain't a Jew. I would leave it for other Jews.

You are an ignoramus. If this nation that has given you and your ilk safe harbor should fall in full-fledged communism (which is what you are longing for in your leftward leanings) be afraid. Be very afraid. The government that you have helped empower may very well come after you.

Have you ever studied 1930's Europe? A little something happened there that you may want to take note of. It happened at the very same ideological hands that you seek to empower here.

Chris Kemp
Blythewood, SC
Show Chris some love guys: christopherkemp@live.com

He tried to post this on President Obama's West Point Speech (in Full), but it was really worthy of it's own post.

LOL.

UPDATE I:

Here he is on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/ChristopherLKemp
Thank you, Joshua, for allowing me to share the "love".

Threats like these sure must make eensy weensy tiny gnat-sized Chris feel big and strong and powerful. I guess that's all he's got: Poorly spelled, badly worded, vile little outbursts.

Sadly, calling people like this out and exposing them has become all too common here at TPC. But I find it is one of the few (non-violent) ways to both fight back and gradually rid ourselves of ignorant, pathetic cowards such as Chris.

UPDATE, THE APOLOGY:

I got two e-mails today; both contained apologies from Chris. E-mail #1 is from one of our favorite Commenters and my Twitterpal Joeyess:
Laffy, I sent an email to chris from joshua's blog:

You do know that 1930's Europe was in the grip of fascism, right? Furthermore, you know that communism began in Russia, right? Russia. The continent of Asia? Why do you people so easily confuse fascism and communism? They aren't the same, you know? In fact, they were mortal enemies. Is your confusion ignorance or willful belligerence?

And what makes you think for one moment that this country is in any way leaning towards communism? Do yourself a favor, look up the word socialism in the dictionary, be intellectually honest with yourself and then look in the mirror and at your reflection say three times: "You're an idiot.".

You won't feel any better about yourself, but at least you'll be a little smarter and honest, and gosh darnit! people will like you!!

and here's his response:

From: christopherkemp@live.com

Subject: Re: nice fella.

Date: December 4, 2009 8:23:00 AM CST
To: joeyess

You are so right. I'm never going to be able to apologize enough for that stupid and hateful thing I did on Joshua's blog.

I have got issues that make my current life sound like a really bad country song. Laid off in Feb., divorced and missing my girls, within about 2 weeks of having my car repo'd and probably 60 days from foreclosure.

So my solution was to get torn up on about 9 beers the other night and flame out by projecting my crap onto someone else. I am really sorry for having done that.

I do understand the difference between socialism and fascism. You are right about it.

If its not communism that we are leaning toward, then what is it? Socialism is just communism-lite. The gov't is involved in so many areas that they have no constitutional authority to be in. Nothing gives them the right to take my money and my children's money and their children's money and spend it on bailouts for wall street.

I already beat you to the punch about saying "I am an idiot". I've been kicking myself all night while trying to sleep. I really was raised better. Even at 44, I don't want to endure the tongue-lashing my Mom would give me if she read what I wrote to Joshua.

If you have any connection with him, please pass this along - he has blocked me from posting to his blog. Like, duh, I'd do the same thing too.

Chris
The next e-mail was from Joshua himself. He got this apology:
Joshua,

I am so very sorry for the hateful and horrible things I typed on your Blog Tuesday night. I apologize to you personally and to all of your friends that visit this site. There is no excuse for my behavior. Whether I agree with your views or not is no reason to spew the crap I did.

I'm sitting here flushed with shame and embarrassment for having written such stupid things. I'm my own problem, not you or whomever is in DC. I've set the beer bottle down and stepped away from it.

Thankfully, someone "jane from hell" sent me an email last night to call me out on my hypocrisy - I had forgotten about my "posting". When I looked it up and read it in a sober state I was dumbfounded by my own foolishness.

I was laid off in February, have judgments against me for failing to pay debts, am close to losing my car and going into foreclosure. Six months behind in alimony and have an IRS lien. Obviously, the solution to all of that is to get blindingly drunk and post things on the internet.

I've received some well-deserved criticism by way of Facebook and emails and have responded to all of them with apologies. I surely don't deserve it, but I am asking to be forgiven. I'm not a christian nor do I go to any church or have anything to do with organized religion.

For whatever its worth, I wish you and all of your readers success and all of the best things in life. I won't bother you again.

Chris Kemp
Blythewood, SC
Joshua posted this response at his blog:
He sounds sincere. No, "I'm sorry IF I offended" half-assed sentiment we usually get from politicians and cable news haters.

Your thoughts?

UPDATE III:
Apology accepted, Chris.

After thinking about your apology for a while, I realized that I’ve said some terrible things that I later truly regretted (some of which still haunt me to this day). And, since your apology was sincere – one that came obviously from your heart – it would be awfully childish of me to not accept it.
My thoughts? I'm relieved to see Chris take the time and effort to send what look to be heartfelt apologies. However, I can't stop thinking about the Mel Gibson incident. Chris revealed a side of himself that came out when he got drunk and depressed. Why would anyone even think to say such hateful things if it weren't at least a small part of who he is and what he believes?

It has never so much as entered my mind to hurl racist or bigoted insults at anyone. Ever. Drunk or not. Furious or not. Depressed or not.

But that doesn't mean I wouldn't accept Chris' apology, because he made at least two sincere attempts at making amends and explaining himself. He stated how appalled and ashamed he was at his own behavior, and said so. So good for him for owning up and caring enough to go out of his way to address Joshua and Joeyess directly.

What a shame that it was necessary to begin with.

Laffy Note: I'd like to add that Joshua's generous acceptance of the apology swayed me some. I do have to ask though: Is Chris one of those people who, like an abusive husband, apologizes and then repeats the same behavior? We may never know.

Michelle Obama: Help feed a neighbor

By GottaLaff

Here's an e-mail from the First Lady that deserves attention:
Tomorrow, many of us will gather around the table with family and friends to give thanks over a feast of turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy -- and let’s not forget pumpkin pie!

But for some in this country, the feast will not be as bountiful. In fact, it won’t be much of a feast at all. Hunger is on the rise in America -- hitting its highest levels in nearly 15 years. A recent report released by the USDA reveals that in 2008 an estimated 1.1 million children were living in households that experienced hunger multiple times over the past year.

To combat hunger this winter, we’re launching, in coordination with the Corporation for National and Community Service and the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the United We Serve: Feed a Neighbor initiative -- a program that empowers you with all the resources you need to mobilize against the hunger crisis in your community. Learn how you can get started today:

Get Started

Barack and I are committed to doing all we can to end hunger by making food programs more accessible to eligible families. But government can only do so much -- it will take all of us working together to put an end to hunger in America.

That’s why we’ve made it easy for you to get involved at Serve.gov. Find local volunteer opportunities like delivering meals to homebound seniors, offering your professional skills at a food pantry, or planting a community garden and sharing produce with your neighbors. You can also create your own volunteer opportunity using our anti-hunger toolkit.

This holiday season let’s recommit to serving our communities and working together to feed American families. Get started giving back today.

Thank you,

Michelle

President Obama's Thanksgiving message

By GottaLaff

An e-mail from the president:
Tomorrow, Thanksgiving Day, Americans across the country will sit down together, count our blessings, and give thanks for our families and our loved ones.

American families reflect the diversity of this great nation. No two are exactly alike, but there is a common thread they each share.

Our families are bound together through times of joy and times of grief. They shape us, support us, instill the values that guide us as individuals, and make possible all that we achieve.

So tomorrow, I'll be giving thanks for my family -- for all the wisdom, support, and love they have brought into my life.

But tomorrow is also a day to remember those who cannot sit down to break bread with those they love.

The soldier overseas holding down a lonely post and missing his kids. The sailor who left her home to serve a higher calling. The folks who must spend tomorrow apart from their families to work a second job, so they can keep food on the table or send a child to school.

We are grateful beyond words for the service and hard work of so many Americans who make our country great through their sacrifice. And this year, we know that far too many face a daily struggle that puts the comfort and security we all deserve painfully out of reach.

So when we gather tomorrow, let us also use the occasion to renew our commitment to building a more peaceful and prosperous future that every American family can enjoy.

It seems like a lifetime ago that a crowd met on a frigid February morning in Springfield, Illinois to set out on an improbable course to change our nation.

In the years since, Michelle and I have been blessed with the support and friendship of the millions of Americans who have come together to form this ongoing movement for change.

You have been there through victories and setbacks. You have given of yourselves beyond measure. You have enabled all that we have accomplished -- and you have had the courage to dream yet bigger dreams for what we can still achieve.

So in this season of thanks giving, I want to take a moment to express my gratitude to you, and my anticipation of the brighter future we are creating together.

With warmest wishes for a happy holiday season from my family to yours,

President Barack Obama
Nice.

VIDEO: Grayson/PCCC deliver nearly 90,000 public option petition signatures to Harry Reid

By GottaLaff

I get e-mails. This is one of the better ones. Go Rep. Grayson (again)! And go PCCC!

Progressive Change Campaign Committee

Laffy,

Bold progressive Congressman Alan Grayson (D-FL) helped us deliver nearly 90,000 petition signatures to Sen. Harry Reid on Wednesday.

We demanded that Reid stand up to conservative Democrats who are threatening to help Republicans block an up-or-down vote on the public option. CNN, ABC, Huffington Post, Washington Post, and others covered the event.

During the delivery, we ran into Sens. Russ Feingold (D-WI), Herb Kohl (D-WI), and Kent Conrad (D-ND) and talked with them about the petition! Oddly, Kent Conrad was holding a poodle during the entire conversation -- you have to see it.

Thanks for being a bold progressive.

--Adam Green, Stephanie Taylor, Andrew Perez, Michael Snook, and the PCCC team

P.S. Many thanks to PCCC fellow Max Berger for making this video.

Controversial Bush-Era EPA E-mail Released

By GottaLaff

The Bush Stains. They never seem to get eradicated.

Today's lesson, kiddies? If you never open an e-mail, it ceases to exist:
A controversial e-mail message buried by the Bush administration because of its conclusions on global warming surfaced Tuesday, nearly two years after it was first sent to the White House and never opened.
This was a very special e-mail. It had a document, a 28 page one, attached.

You see, the EPA says that back in 2007, they figured out that several gases, six to be exact, were linked to global warming. And guess what? All six were toxic and came from cars and gasoline and were not good things for us to breathe in. The EPA wanted to ::dun dun dun-n-n!:: regulate them.

But BushCo poo-pooed that. Clean air? Pfft. Regulation? Getoutahere! Global warming? Ha!
As a result, the Dec. 5 e-mail sent by the agency to Susan Dudley, who headed the regulatory division at the Office of Management and Budget was never opened, according to Jason Burnett, the former EPA official that wrote it.
See? If you do this, it doesn't exist:

Poof! Out of sight, out of (their) mind.

Conservative group alters NBC e-mail: "“Bite me Jew Boy”

By GottaLaff

(via, click on image to enlarge)

Bite me ALG:

NBC News president Steve Capus fired back at Americans for Limited Government Friday, after the conservative group published an email allegedly from NBC producer Jane Stone to its director of media outreach Alex Rosenwald, with one line: “Bite me Jew Boy.”
Family values at work again. Those wacky groups and their pranks!
I’m still in shock, and outraged that this reckless organization would go out with such a defamatory, irresponsible statement,” Capus told POLITICO.

Stone did respond to a mass email from ALG. You can see his original, non-anti-Semitic content below.

Somebody, on the other end, I’m assuming, took the return stamp from the email and then put in this hateful message,” Capus said. “I don’t know who did it. It’s outrageous to suspect that somebody from NBC News would do it.”

Don't these conservative groups remember that the Jews run the entertainment industry? Time for a refresher course:

It's time for Pretending to be A Jew for Dummeez! Lesson #1: A Jewish e-mailer would most likely avoid sending blatantly anti-Semitic messages. Now really, basic common sense dictates that one gets one's bigoted stories straight. Come on!

Capus said he contacted the group and asked them to rescind the press release that accompanied publication of the email. He said that ALG would not agree, and the instead responded with a “politically-fueled rant against NBC, and a completely irresponsible diatribe."

The real e-mail, verified by NBC, reads like this:
From: Stone, Jane (NBC Universal)
Sent: Thursday, September 24, 2009 1:57 PM
To: 'arosenwald@getliberty.org'
Subject: Re: ALG Calls on Congress to "Put Up or Shut Up" on Defunding ACORN

Take me off this list!

Post 9/12 Internal Fox News e-mail

By GottaLaff

Keith addressed this last night, I believe. My reaction to the e-mail below from Fox News Vice President of News and Washington managing editor Bill Sammon to the staff of the D.C. bureau:

Hahahaha ::dissolving in tears:: haahaha ::deep breath:: haahahaha ::pounding floor:: hahaaa!

Exhibit A: This video, which debunks nearly every word of the e-mail.

Presenting ::ta daaa!:: The ClusterFox Hypocrisy Memo: (I've highlighted all the lies in red)

Subject: standards

For those of us who have only been at Fox for a relatively short period of time, it’s useful to remind ourselves that, as journalists, we must always be careful to cover the story without becoming part of the story. At news events, we’re supposed to function as dispassionate observers, not active participants. We are there to chronicle the news, not create it.

That means we ask questions in a fair, impartial manner. When approaching interviewees, we identify ourselves, by both name and news organization, up front. [Laffy Note: Not sure about this one. Do they do this?] We seek out a variety of voices and views. We take note of the scene in order to bring color and context to our viewers.

We do not cheerlead for one cause or another. We do not rile up a crowd. If a crowd happens to be boisterous when we show it on TV, so be it. If it happens to be quiet, that’s fine, too. It’s not our job to affect the crowd’s behavior one way or the other. Again, we’re journalists, not participants — and certainly not performers.

Indeed, any effort to affect the crowd’s behavior only serves to undermine our legitimate journalistic role as detached eyewitnesses. [Laffy Note: True!] Remember, our viewers are counting on us to be honest brokers when it comes to reporting — not altering –the important events of the day. That is nothing less than a sacred trust. We must always take pains to preserve that trust.

If you have any questions or would like to discuss this further, please stop by.

Ohio police dispatcher e-mails racist image of Air Force One

By GottaLaff

Police officers are supposed to protect and serve? Apparently, some don't get to feel as secure as others:
The OhioDaily blog reports on a “rogue” dispatcher from the North Canton Police who recently sent out a racist e-mail from her work account. Dispatcher Anita Malachowski forwarded [the above photoshopped] message. [...]

As OhioDaily writes, “This type of message is offensive coming from anyone, but coming from someone in the position of dispatching police and prioritizing calls, it’s downright horrifying. The North Canton police have a hard enough job as it is without rogue dispatchers trying to incite a race riot or stirring tensions during the hot months of summer.”
Incite a race riot, then dispatch your own officers to the scene. In her mind, that probably makes some kind of sick sense.

RNC profits from our anger over town hall mobs

By GottaLaff

Hangings in effigy, giggles/applause at the mention of lynching, death threats, hostility, mob scenes, fear mongering, lies, stifling democracy: This is how the Rushpublics make their money. Be proud, Rushpublics. Be proud, Michael Steele:

RNC chair Michael Steele is now raising money off of Dem criticism of the town hall rowdies, claiming that Dems, possibly in league with the mainstream media, are trying to silence ordinary citizens.

Steele’s new fundraising email references the DNC’s attacks yesterday on “mob” rule:

The Democrat National Committee released a memo late yesterday attacking you as a right-wing extremist.

We saw this sort of vitriolic rhetoric this past April when Democrats smugly dismissed grassroots protests against their out-of-control spending. These Tea Parties were ruthlessly mocked by the liberal elites and the mainstream media.

Now as public support for the Obama Democrats’ government-run health care plan unravels, they’re using this fear-and-smear tactic to silence ANY American who disagrees with their risky scheme to nationalize one-fifth of our economy and limit your health care choices. It’s a page out of their standard playbook of name calling and outright lies to stifle all debate.

Once again, Michael Steele proves himself to be a despicable, lying prostitute for his despicable, lying party, and not a very bright one. Think real hard, Michael: Who are the fear mongering name callers who are stifling debate?

Let's see if this refreshes your memory:

Prof. Henry Gates received death threats: "You should die, you're a racist."

By GottaLaff

Yes, RNC Co-Chair Jan Larimer, it's all about beer. How can anyone, especially in a leadership position, be that stupid naive?

Gates said he received numerous threats after the incident, including an e-mail that read, "You should die, you're a racist."

Gates has changed his e-mail address and cell phone number, and Harvard officials even suggested that he consider moving, he said.

Allow me to quote myself:
Yes, that's what this meeting was about: Beer. How did we all miss that? This had nothing whatsoever to do with cuffing a black man in his own house, profiling, mutual (dis)respect, inequality, our country's history, perpetual disparity, simmering hostilities, racial divides, reconciliation, or mending fences.
And now, death threats. Seems they're prevalent these days.

Be proud of Jan Larimer, Rushpublics. She speaks for you.

Commenter responds to Joe Lieberman's Run-On Gitmo Detainee E-mail

By GottaLaff

Before you read this post, please go back to this one, the impossible-to-read e-mail from Joe Lieberman that called for this response from Commenter Chris... who kindly allowed me to post her e-mail response:

It's actually not as bad here as when I opened the email to one solid block of text. I tried to reply to it, but, naturally, the email got bounced back to me.

If I may?

Dear Senator Lieberman and staff,

In reply to your email to me:

1st - The letter you sent me is vitrually unreadable. See below! The lack of attention to detail by your staff is stunning.

2nd - the "at least 74 have already returned to fight with the extremists" is absolutely UNTRUE and you know it - or at least you should know it.

3rd - The "The detainees held in Guantanamo are enemy combatants who were caught in the war on terrorism and have demonstrated a callous willingness to exploit international law, our laws, and basic standards of human decency to advance their cause" is UNTRUE. Many of the detainees were turned in to US forces for the rewards offered. 27 out of 32 who have faced military justices have been ordered released or had charges dropped against them due to lack of evidence, hearsay evidence or use of torture to obtain self-incriminating evidence. Shame on you, a former Attorney General, for continuing the deception of the detainees. I urge you to look at the case of Fayid al Kandari, a Kuwaiti national, being held at Guantanamo Bay Naval Base and try to find one shred of evidence that he is among "the worst of the worst".
Moreover, military commissions are extraconstitutional and distinctly unamerican.

4th, and lastly - Your first priority is misplaced. It should not be to protect Americans. Your DUTY, that which you swore an oath to do, sir, is to protect the US Constitution. That duty is something in which you have failed.

Sincerely,

Chris, Concerned taxpayer, Patriotic American, Your constituent and employer
