Have to say that if you're going to protest, outside that house sure beats outside the White House, especially this time of year.

I hope that this silence on the Gaza situation from Obama means that when he does say something maybe it will be different from that same "Israel is our ally" talking point that you pretty much expect from every pol now. If he just comes out and attacks Hamas like everyone else is doing, he'll sound no different from Bush on the subject. I for one am looking forward to a Pres that doesn't knee jerk support for Israel every time just because they're our only friends over there.
I'm with you awp. I usually keep quiet about the I/P situation since I get enough of in in my own house (sigh), but it bothers me that we back I so unconditionally with moral support and huge chunks of cash.
I agree.
I'm not read into this thing. But it seems to me that they, as in Hamas and Israel, does not want peace. Like I said, I'm not read in, I know it is a hot subject, but it has always felt that it is too hard.
Anyway, what I am thinking out of the blue is that neither Hamas or Israel can accept terms of peace, whatever it may be, and I understand that some terms when it comes to land, you should not accept. As a historic and a religious 'stronghold' we need peace here more than any other place. What we need to talk to Israel and Hamas about is the citizens int he region, every attack is against the citizen, in reality. This is unfair to them. USA and Israel are allies, but USA is strong and should have demands. So I think it's unfair while Hamas has no real ally, I may be wrong here. So sue me.
I think we cannot solve this issue without both parts want to solve it. And according to news, at least here in Sweden. Israel refused a cease-fire. Not a good sign.
If issues would be solved by killing innocent civilians, peace as a word and meaning would not exist.
New year here. in about 8 hours and 30 minutes we begin the year of 2009 :) and only 20 days left!
I'm still concerned about it. I think that Obama can bring change to the world and how we the people and the politicians do their business. We can and should always demand more, we and not the lobbyists. They have too much time and easily can word their opinions or what they want than us regular folks!
Good night and a happy new year!
I'm with Jonas -- neither Hamas nor Israel seem committed to peace. It's a hard, hard situation -- no white hats, no black hats.
Obama is walking into an astounding, spectacular mess.
It seems to me that it should not be a hard thing for these two peoples to decide that they will stop killing each other. I remember when Israel gave up a chunk of land to the Gazans. They left beautiful homes, gardens and infrastructure. Hamas immedidately start to bomb Israel. I have been reading about this and Hamas had been rocketing Israel for weeks before Irael finally retaliated. The rabbi was right. When the Palestinians want an independent state more than they want to destroy Israel, then there might be peace. But, I don't believe we will see that happen.
You still annoy me anon.
I think Obama's silence has to do with being 'President-Elect'...who has no plan to make this his failure when the Bush admin have been an utter failure on the Middle East policy. Besides, what the hell can he say....Israel shouldn't bomb? so all the Israeli lobbyist come out of the dark and start calling him anti-Semite?
I find it funny the protesters are in front of his house and not the WH...I guess they know Bush is pointless.
I wish people would not refer to all Palestinians as Hamas. Please stop. They are not. Palestinians are currently in control of the west bank as well and they are against Hamas as well, so is the rest of the Arab world. Hamas is an elected form of the Talibans. Their purpose is just as evil.
