Attention ClusterFox: Is South Carolina a Muslim state?!
By GottaLaff
Earlier, Paddy posted a ClusterFox video in which there was much fretting and finger-pointing about our obviously Muslim president trying to sneak some ultra super duper secret brainwashing propaganda into the Nuclear Security Summit logo.
But oops, our pal Joeyess stumbled upon some extra special wholesome newsy goodness: the State Flag of South Carolina:
There goes the neighborhood....

White House: Ukraine Will Get Rid of Its Highly Enriched Uranium
By GottaLaff
Jake Tapper reports some very good news. So good, in fact, that the GOP will turn it into something horribly negative, unpatriotic, and dangerous.
In fact, if we're not careful, President Obama will not only destroy America, he'll destroy... the whole... wide... world:
President Viktor Yanukovich of Ukraine agreed to give up all of his country’s stockpile of highly enriched uranium (HEU), White House press secretary Robert Gibbs announced Monday after President Obama's first ever meeting with Yanukovich at the Nuclear Security Summit.
Ukraine will also convert its nuclear reactors that use HEU to ones that will use low-enriched uranium.
Oh no! Why... why... it's a plot! Yes. That's what it is. And it's been in the works for over a ::dun-dun-dun-n-n:: decade. Hide the kids! Our Muslim Kenyan Commie Gay Abortionist French Marxist president is out to get us:
The US "has been trying to make this happen for more than 10 years," Gibbs said.
The right wing will call this weak.
I call it an accomplishment.
And I'd like to call the panicky, crazed conservatives a whole lot of things, but I'm too busy trying to keep my cool and remain reasonable... Like our, you know, president.

VIDEO: THE WINNER of the 2010 Health Care Summit
By GottaLaff
My Twitter pal Andy Cobb put together one hilarious video. Consider it a pre-game warm-up for tomorrow's Big Summit:
The 2010 healthcare summit already has a winner. And they're so psyched. [...]

While I like to imagine that CSPAN is run by a bunch of trash talking adrenaline junkies who talk smack about CSPAN2 when they don't land a key gig, it's probably not literally true. So we made their promo for them.
"Republicans have already blown the politics of " health care summit
By GottaLaff

After receiving the invitation from the President, Minority Leader Boehner and Minority Whip Cantor sent a letter detailing their pre-conditions for attendance. Some Republicans have insulted the Summit by calling it a set-up or a taxpayer-funded infomercial. Now we learn they have spent several weeks organizing a rapid response operation. The RNC is putting out real-time fact checks. They have a Truth Squad. On something as simple as getting together for a bi-partisan Summit, they have tried to turn it into a hyper-partisan event.
Republicans have already failed to match the President’s class, conduct, poise, and bi-partisanship.
I hope America agrees. I know I do.

McConnell: 'Not clear' if GOP can block partisan tactic on healthcare
By GottaLaff

It's "not clear" whether enough Democrats will defect on a majority-vote procedure on health legislation to stop it, the Senate's top Republican said Sunday.
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) said that opposition to using a maneuver to bypass filibuster rules would be bipartisan, but hedged as to whether it would be strong enough to block such a tactic.
Mitchy? Hedge? Nooo....
McConnell and Reid, along with other House and Senate leaders from both parties, will also head to the White House on Thursday for a bipartisan, televised summit on healthcare.
McConnell said he would attend the event "in all likelihood," putting to rest doubts that he or other Republicans may not show up.
Good for them. Now they can say "no" in person.

Sebelius Expects Health Care Deal, Rips GOP
By GottaLaff

HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius "said she expects a single Democratic health-care proposal to be posted online before the president's Feb. 25 health care summit," NBC News reports. The proposal merges the efforts of the House and Senate.
Sebelius also criticized Republicans for not putting forth any ideas of their own.
Said Sebelius: "The Democrats have actually been engaged looking for solutions for over a year. The Republican Party has not come to the table with any sort of comprehensive proposal."
Nor have they done that with the jobs bill.
What a bunch of eager beaver, go-getters the Rushpublics are. Didn't get that responsibility gene, now did they...

President Obama does it again: He averts yet another mess, this time at NATO Summit
By GottaLaff
President Obama couldn't be any anti-Bushier. There he goes again, being all diplomatic, reaching out to others, getting them to listen and communicate, and creating more harmonious relationships. What galling newbie-tastic neophyte-itude:
On the heels of his negotiations at the G-20 economic summit - where he negotiated a way out of a potential logjam spurred by a heated debate between France and China over tax havens - President Obama exercised his negotiating skills once again on this overseas trip, this time at the NATO Summit.
This time the debate was over whether Danish Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen should become the next secretary general of NATO. [...] Turkish President Abdullah Gul voiced his concerns.
“This was a different style than what the leader are used to from a U.S. President," the non-Obama administration source said. "Obama was instrumental in making this happen. Obama eventually clenched the decision with his leadership – and because he listened to what people said.”
Said [Obama's national security adviser, Gen. Jim Jones (Ret.)]: "I think it was a very helpful moment. I think that our President really was instrumental in bringing about this common ground and finding this common ground -- and as a result the Alliance has a new Secretary General elected unanimously." [...]
There were, President Obama said today of Rasmussen's new gig, "important efforts to make sure that everybody felt included. And I want to thank, in particular, Turkey for raising some concerns having to do with their security issues and their confidence that the new secretary general would address them. So I congratulate all the parties concerned in arriving at a outstanding outcome."
I don't know about you, but my pride-o-meter just went berserk. And Rushpublics? This is the guy you thought was too "inexperienced" and inept to handle foreign affairs. Once again, the Party of No inspires confidence in their sound judgment and wisdom. Who could ever doubt them again?
