Man gets 36 months for Internet threats to assassinate Obama

Finally, one of the crazies that makes sense. /snark

A Wisconsin man who professes to be the second coming of Christ was sentenced Friday in federal court in Jackson to 36 months in prison for making Internet threats to assassinate then-President-elect Barack Obama.

In a nearly daylong sentencing hearing, Steven Joseph Christopher, 42, said at one point in court, "I'm not crazy."

He was living in Brookhaven in January when he made the Internet threat against Obama, about a week before the president was sworn into office.

Christopher admitted making the threat, but said he never had any intention of harming Obama. He said he made the threat to gain attention for his cause that he is the second coming of Christ and the Apocalypse is coming in 2012 and much of the world will be destroyed.

When U.S. District Judge Henry Wingate asked him what he thought his sentence should be, Christopher replied, "I think I should be let go. I want to meet with President Obama."

"I am the Christ, the returned Christ. I'm asking you to look at my heart. I think you (Wingate) are an honorable man and I hope you will see that I'm the Messiah and kiss me on the head."

Sarah Palin Blames Obama for Troubles; He Did All That?

By GottaLaff

Who knew Prez O donned his waders and pushed Miss Personality Disorder into the Sea of Resignation? No wonder he's so popular:
Jay Newton-Small, who interviewed Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R) for this week's Time magazine, notes that "one of the most interesting aspects of the story is how vehemently the Palin camp blames Barack Obama" for her troubles. "That's the way they think about it: that these Alaskans filing ethics complaints have been hoodwinked by Obama operatives into wasting the Alaskan government's time and resources."

Palin aide Meg Stapleton said, "A lot of this comes from Washington, D.C. The trail is pretty direct and pretty obvious to us."

She goes on to argue that "the anti-Palin offensive seems lifted straight from The Thumpin', which describes the political strategies of Rahm Emanuel, who is now the White House chief of staff."
1. Sarah Dearest has no idea what the word "responsibility" means.
2. She and her little friend Meg are certifiable.

Glenn Beck Show issues a wingnut call to arms

Jeebus, he's just getting worse.

Beck’s ‘Thomas Paine’ delivered some of the wing-nuttiest rantings ever to be broadcast on Fox — and that’s saying something. Among the gems:

  1. The time for talk is over.
  2. Your complacency will only aid and abet our national suicide.
  3. The stimulus package was as bad as 9/11 and Pearl Harbor.
  4. Democrats are as bad as al Qaeda.
  5. To show you agree with the preceeding, at twelve noon on April 15, honk your horn three times.
  6. After the teabag parties, there will be a million man “we the people” march on Washington.
  7. It’s time to hoist this battle flag once again.
  8. His name is Thomas Paine, and he’s ready to take back America.

President Obama's aunt remains in US legally for now

Poor woman, just the mention of her is sure to get the loons yipping again. From the comments over at CNN on this- What is wrong with this picture?????? Let's ask her if she was present for his birth in Kenya? Poor sad things.

WASHINGTON (CNN) — President Barack Obama's Kenyan aunt is in the United States legally, at least for the time being, CNN has learned.

Just days before the November election it was reported that Zeituni Onyango, the half-sister of Mr. Obama's late father, was living in Boston despite a deportation order issued four years earlier when her asylum request was denied.

(snip)

"While she is in proceedings she can stay in the country," says Margaret Wong, the attorney representing Onyango. Wong said her client had not received any special treatment in the immigration system.

Guantanamo case files in disarray... as is what's left of Bush's mind

By GottaLaff

When you think of Bush, are you like me? Do you imagine him sitting on the floor, staring vacantly at floating dust particles, lost amidst a sea of Play-Doh, macaroni, crumpled bits of construction paper, and old photos of Roy Rogers and Hoppy, wishing he could be just like them?

I visualize his pathetic, limited world as messy, a virtual cacophony of vulgar, unformed thoughts, grandiose self-images, and the soundtrack of Looney Tunes playing in his hollow little head.

Bush's Gitmo filing system reflects my mental image:

[I]ncoming legal and national security officials -- barred until the inauguration from examining classified material on the detainees -- discovered that there were no comprehensive case files on many of them.

Instead, they found that information on individual prisoners is "scattered throughout the executive branch," a senior administration official said. The executive order Obama signed Thursday orders the prison closed within one year, and a Cabinet-level panel named to review each case separately will have to spend its initial weeks and perhaps months scouring the corners of the federal government in search of relevant material.

Several former Bush administration officials agreed that the files are incomplete and that no single government entity was charged with pulling together all the facts and the range of options for each prisoner. They said the CIA and other intelligence agencies were reluctant to share information, and the Bush administration's focus on detention and interrogation made preparation of viable prosecutions a far lower priority.

But... wait for it... they blame Obama:

After promising quick solutions, one former senior official said, the Obama administration is now "backpedaling and trying to buy time" by blaming its predecessor.

For every accusation, there is a denial. Here are more accusations:

A second former Pentagon official said most individual files are heavily summarized dossiers that do not contain the kind of background and investigative work that would be put together by a federal prosecution team. He described "regular food fights" among different parts of the government over information-sharing on the detainees. [...]

There have been indications from within and outside the government for some time, however, that evidence and other materials on the Guantanamo prisoners were in disarray, even though most of the detainees having been held for years. [...]

In another filing, the department said that [...] "None of the relevant agencies, however, was prepared to handle this volume of habeas [corpus] cases on an expedited basis."

Evidence gathered for military commission trials is in disarray, according to some former officials, who said military lawyers lacked the trial experience to prosecute complex international terrorism cases.

In a court filing this month, Darrel Vandeveld, a former military prosecutor at Guantanamo who asked to be relieved of his duties, said evidence was "strewn throughout the prosecution offices in desk drawers, bookcases packed with vaguely-labeled plastic containers, or even simply piled on the tops of desks."

He said he once accidentally found "crucial physical evidence" that "had been tossed in a locker located at Guantanamo and promptly forgotten."
