VIDEO: Teabaggers Disrupt Health Care Reform At Town Halls (updated)

By GottaLaff

UPDATE: Here's the video. Blog title edited to reflect addition.

Talk about cutting off their big intrusive noses to spite their Rushpublic corporate faces:

Angry teabaggers and other opponents of health care reform are heckling members of Congress at their town hall meetings back home in an effort to sway the debate and drown out reform supporters.

How democratic of them. Always looking out for America, this bunch. Do we feel indebted yet?

Why, yes. Yes we do. Indebted to Big Insurance and Big Pharma. Thank you, teabaggers. We'll remember you in our wills.

This weekend, a group of teabaggers showed up at a town hall in Philadelphia with Sen. Arlen Specter (D-PA) and Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius. They shouted and booed to drown out remarks from both officials and questions from the audience. [...]

These aren't the first incidents of this kind, but we think it's a pretty safe bet they'll continue and intensify throughout August. Rep. Tim Bishop (D-NY) has suspended town hall meetings after screaming protesters disrupted a June 22 forum in Long Island to the point where residents called the police to escort Bishop to his car.

Freedom of speech drowning out freedom of speech. Yeah, they pretty much cancel each other out, which is exactly what the Tea Tantrumers want. Those who scream loudest determine the fate of our health.

"Death, baby, death!" [Laffy Note: This was not a wish, it was mockery of their meme]

Prognosis: Failure.

VIDEO-- Michele Bachmann: Chairman Obama Is Running A "Gangster" Government

By GottaLaff

It's unAmerican, I tells ya, unAmerican! The car czars are gonna get ya!

The gift that keeps on giving...

Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) speaking on the House floor:
Now weve moved into the realm of gangster government. We have gangster government when the Federal Government has set up a new cartel and private businesses, now have to go begging with their hand out to their local, hopefully well politically connected Congressman or their Senator so they can buy a peace offering for that local business. Is that the kind of country we are going to have in the future?

Limbaugh Calls Obama "Half-Black, Half-White Human Being With No Experience"

By GottaLaff

I have to rush off to work, so here's a quick copy/paste for you. Gag-inducing quotes courtesy of Boss LimpDong:

...Rush aired a sound bite of Newsweek's Evan Thomas contrasting Reagan's and Obama's visions of America in the world, describing Reagan as "parochial" while Obama is above it all, like a "god." Rush said Reagan was not provincial; he understood America's greatness and its role in the world for good. Obama, however, sees America's role in the world as bad. Rush added: "It is offensive to the sensibilities of millions of people to hear a member of the state-run media refer to a half-black, half-white human being with no experience running anything of substance referred to as a god. He may be president of the United States, but he's not a god." Rush would later on endeavor to explain why Obama's racial makeup has anything to do with this.

After the break, Rush entered into a lengthy monologue on how "childish," "babyish," and "immature" for Obama to blame his predecessor for the problems he inherited. Rush then explained what Obama really inherited: the greatest nation in the world, the financial capital of the world, a nation which liberated billions of people, and the responsibility to lead it responsibly. "He did not inherit a mess," said Rush, he inherited the United States of America. And what has he done with this inheritance, asked Rush -- he's run around the world and apologized for the alleged sins of America. Rush once again reiterated: "Barack Obama did not inherit a mess; he leads a mess." Rush summed it up: "It is childish. It is babyish. It is immature. It is unbecoming anyone who holds the office of president of the United States to run around crying like a baby, while lying about the mess he inherited."

Who's the immature liar again?

Please read the rest here.

Arlen Specter defends Pelosi, questions CIA's honesty

I have never seen such a cock up of messaging and party unity like the past couple of weeks. If Arlen (and Dave Obey, Bob Graham and others) was inclined to support Speaker Pelosi's assertion of the CIA lying to her, they should have come out immediately, forcefully and on every damn news show possible.

Sen. Arlen Specter (D-Pa.) took the opportunity Wednesday to defend House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), who has come under fire in recent weeks over a controversy surrounding when she was told of the use of enhanced interrogation techniques being used by the CIA.

"The CIA has a very bad record when it comes to — I was about to say 'candid'; that's too mild — to honesty," Specter, a former chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, said in a lunch address to the American Law Institute. He cited misleading information about the agency's involvement in mining harbors in Nicaragua and the Iran-Contra affair.

"Director [Leon] Panetta says the agency does not make it a habit to misinform Congress. I believe that is true. It is not the policy of the Central Intelligence Agency to misinform Congress," Specter said. "But that doesn't mean that they're all giving out the information."

Miss "Opposite Marriage" California to star in TV ad from conservative group N.O.M.

By GottaLaff

The group's last ad, 'A Gathering Storm,' came out earlier this month.
Remember Miss California, that sage, open-minded, inclusive beauty pageant representative of my state who likes opposite marriage better than gay marriage? Looks like her brainless opining paid off. N.O.M.-- remember them, too? Of "Ga(y)thering Storm" infamy?-- has latched on to her the way Virginia Foxx latched on to bigotry:
Carrie Prejean, the Miss USA contestant from California who famously declared her opposition to same sex marriage on the pageant stage, will star in a new $1.5 million ad campaign funded by the National Organization for Marriage. [...]

[She's] become a fresh-faced standard-bearer for the same-sex marriage opponents, who have rallied to her defense.

"Fresh-faced"? That's so darned complimentary and all-American-sounding. How nice that CNN has chosen to describe her that way.

The National Organziation for Marriage has scheduled a press conference with Prejean in Washington on Wednesday to unveil the new ad, called "No Offense."

Of course. Thank you. No offense taken. Never. Why would you even think to say that?

"She is attacked viciously for having the courage to speak up for her truth and her values," the group said in a press release. "But Carrie's courage inspired a whole nation and a whole generation of young people because she chose to risk the Miss USA crown rather than be silent about her deepest moral values."

What a spunky little gem she is.

According to the group, the ad will call "gay marriage advocates to account for their unwillingness to debate the real issue: gay marriage has consequences."

Consequences?! Oh no! Omg! My stable, successful marriage is in real trouble! Everyone's going to become gay! And not just gay, nosireebob! Gay abortionists! Gay divorced abortionists!

Rank this right up there with a Stage 5 swine flu alert. We're all doomed!

Glenn Beck Show issues a wingnut call to arms

Jeebus, he's just getting worse.

Beck’s ‘Thomas Paine’ delivered some of the wing-nuttiest rantings ever to be broadcast on Fox — and that’s saying something. Among the gems:

  1. The time for talk is over.
  2. Your complacency will only aid and abet our national suicide.
  3. The stimulus package was as bad as 9/11 and Pearl Harbor.
  4. Democrats are as bad as al Qaeda.
  5. To show you agree with the preceeding, at twelve noon on April 15, honk your horn three times.
  6. After the teabag parties, there will be a million man “we the people” march on Washington.
  7. It’s time to hoist this battle flag once again.
  8. His name is Thomas Paine, and he’s ready to take back America.
