"On Monday, President-elect Barack Obama and Senator John McCain will meet in Chicago at transition headquarters,” said transition spokeswoman Stephanie Cutter.

I would rather have someone who actually gave a rat's ass about veterans in that job.
Also something to consider, Arizona law requires that the governor name someone from the same party as the retiring senator/congressman. So, it's not like we'll pick up a seat or anything.
I figured he'd be safe enough with oversite at Veterans Affairs, but I didn't know about the law so... nevermind.
Eh, I hear that they've been wanting to challenge the constitutionality of it anyway.
