Reefy McSoundsHigh doesn't need weed. She's dazed and confused enough without it. On the other hand, pot might help make her appear more lucid, not less. One never knows, does one?

Considering Reefy's endorsement of the Wines and Spirits that Be, you'd think she'd take Nevadans for Sensible Marijuana Laws (NSML) up on their offer to speak at one of their events. After all, money's money, right?

Did I mention they pay 25 grand?

At Caesar’s Palace on Wednesday former Alaska governor Sarah Palin will deliver the keynote address at the Wine & Spirits Wholesalers of America’s national convention.

Immediately following that speech, Dave Schwartz, the campaign manager for Nevadans for Sensible Marijuana Laws (NSML), will offer Palin $25,000 to deliver a similar address to supporters of a regulated marijuana market in this country.

He makes some good arguments for legalizing marijuana here.

There is no word on what she got paid to speak on behalf of Monsieur Beau Jolais and Mademoiselle Char Donnay. And I bet she didn't know wine was a gateway drink to the dreaded hardcore Alaskan Polar Bear.

BREAKING: Initiative to legalize marijuana qualifies for California's November ballot

Via an e-mail alert, this was inevitable. This morning's L.A. Times all but said it was:

State election officials announced Wednesday that an initiative to legalize marijuana will be on the November ballot, triggering what will likely be an expensive, divisive and much-watched campaign to decide whether California will again lead the nation in softening drug laws.

Los Angeles County election officials turned in their official estimate of the number of valid signatures just before 5 p.m. Wednesday, putting the measure beyond the 433,971 needed to make the ballot. The county, where one-fifth of the signatures were collected, was the last to report its count.

Did I just hear the anchor call her Sarah "Pawlin"? Oh well, I guess she wasn't a big book sellin', speech makin', lie spreadin' celebrity back then, huh?

Interesting how so many people made such a big deal out of Barack Obama's past, but we didn't hear much, if anything, about this:

"Well, it was legal in Alaska at the time, growin' up in Alaska, and-and, for me, it-it's much easier for me to just be' honest about things and not buffalo my way through an answer... It was legal in Alaska..."

So it's about legality, not drug use. Good to know, Weedy McPotSmoke.

And about not wantin' to "buffalo" your way through answers... Paging Katie Couric and "In What Respect Charlie" Gibson!

Fundraising jump for marijuana group after Obama snub

Remember this clip from the president's online town hall meeting? An ironic twist, courtesy of the Department of Dazed and Confused:

Marijuana backers aren't laughing about President Obama's flippant dismissal of a pot-related question during Thursday's online town hall meeting — and the country's leading marijuana advocacy group, The National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws, has seen its donations quadruple over the last 24 hours.

What they don't tell you is that half of those donations were Twinkies and Cheetos.

Allen St. Pierre, the executive director of NORML, told CNN "our donation boxes started to flood" after Obama laughed off a Web question about whether legalizing marijuana would improve the economy and job creation. St. Pierre said traffic to the group's Web site has "increased precipitously" since Thursday.

"About half of the donation comments have a reference to Mr. Obama's comments," St. Pierre said. "As far as I'm concerned, he could show up every single day and rag on marijuana."

Those would be the Twinkie/Cheeto crowd. I should know. I was really good friends with them in college.

But St. Pierre said the anger among marijuana legalization advocates is real.

Bill Maher could be heard grumbling, "Wtf? I thought Prez O was cool."

St. Pierre acknowledged that marijuana legalization is "by no means at the top of national concerns" like two wars and a troubled economy. However, he said the online question was a serious one, arguing that marijuana legalization would help law enforcement officials cut costs. He also said a legal marijuana industry, like tobacco and alcohol, would create billions in tax revenue for the government.

Agreed.

St. Pierre believes the president and his attorney general, Eric Holder, will be friendlier to marijuana advocates than the previous administration, but he said he knows the topic remains "political dynamite" for any elected official.

That's what I said in my post (see link above). He couldn't very well advocate for legalization in that format. It's too complicated to devote a mere minute or two in a new and novel arena.

He needs time for a more serious, substantial discussion, not just a sound bite op for the Rushpublics to jump on.

UK milkman delivered cannabis with bottles of milk

Speaking of potent pot-ables, do you think this guy moonlights as a designer of customized bongs made from recycled milk bottles?

A British prosecutor says an elderly milkman supplied customers with cannabis as well as bottles of milk.

Robert Holding, 72, delivered marijuana as he made his daily rounds in the town of Burnely, in northwestern England.

Prosecutor Sarah Statham said Friday that Holding offered the drug to elderly customers suffering from aches and pain. She says the customers left Holding notes on their doorsteps to order the drug.

The milkman pleaded guilty. They gave him a 36 month sentence, suspended.

I love this guy. A lot. He really.... delivers.

Oh Cindy McCain, beauty is in the eyes of the beer-holder

While we're on the subject of Cindy McMealTicket:

A group dedicated to legalizing marijuana use is launching a new campaign Tuesday aimed at pointing to hypocrisy in a country that could have as its first lady a woman who made millions selling a substance that's killed tens of thousands of people while purveyors of a relatively harmless herb are imprisoned.

The just-launched Web site DrugDealerCindy.com points to Cindy McCain's position as chair of her father's Hensley & Co., one of the country's largest Anheuser-Busch beer distributors, and it argues that alcohol is more toxic, addictive and prone to inspire violence than marijuana. The site, launched by the group Safer Alternative For Enjoyable Recreation, also features mock "Wanted" posters featuring a photo of McCain, wife of the Republican presidential candidate, and offering a -- wait for it-- $420 reward.

Interesting how intertwined Cindy McBeerWealth is with drugs and alcohol:

"No one seems to have a problem with the fact that a potential First Lady sells a drug that contributes to countless violence and other destructive acts," SAFER's Mason Tvert tells RAW STORY.

They're not out to get Cindy:

Tvert says the group is not targeting McCain out of malice nor for partisan reasons. The aim is simply to point out the disparity between how alcohol and marijuana use are treated as public policy issues.

"Cindy McCain sells millions of dollars worth or alcohol every year" and may go to the White House, he says. "Whereas someone who may sell hundreds of dollars worth of marijuana gets sent to prison."

SAFER is "not against alcohol," Tvert says, it would just prefer marijuana receive the same recognition under the law.

Where's the equal time rule when you need it?
