That was a mighty steep doorstep, but we managed to scramble up. Walking through the door will be a tight squeeze, and hopefully the welcome mat will be out. God knows the Rushpublics are dying to track slimy, muddy footsteps all over the brand new carpet.

So did I jam enough home sweet home metaphors into that paragraph?

Seriously, getting something passed has been a huge accomplishment, whether you agree with the end result or not. Let's hope there are a few hard core Progressive types who can wangle their policies into the final legislation.

Then we could turn on the porch light, close the door, light a fire, and break out the Champagne.

After that, the remodeling begins.
