Headline of the Day
Really? In the United States of America you can be kicked from the Armed Forces for a rumor or innuendo of being gay? Even by someone outside of the military? Can you be kicked out for a rumor or innuendo of having an affair with another soldier or do you need proof for that? Sounds rather like the way that Gitmo got to full capacity.

Video- Personal Stories Of Troop Support: "The Way We Get By"
Hopefully this will make up for the Tiger Woods bimba video. Sniff.
No matter your political leanings, patriotic spirit level, or thoughts on troop deployment, this is a very inspiring personal story about a remarkable group of people in Maine who make personal sacrifices to support soldiers. Filmmaker Aron Gaudet’s mom is one of the subjects of the film. It’s one of the best docs I’ve seen all year — if you missed its PBS airing on Veterans Day, it’s available free online until Dec. 12 here. Trust me, you’ll be moved.

May I just ask
Why no news outlets have any female "Senior Military Analysts", or hell, even female "Military Analysts"? I mean, we've been in the service officially for quite a long time now, you'd think enough of us had gotten all seniory and analytical enough to be asked an opinion or two. Hell, my sister is a Republican, but she could be plunked down in front of a camera and would probably do well.

The real Joe Wilson
By GottaLaff

Joe Wilson, real name "Addison" presents himself as a hard boiled combat veteran, retired Army colonel and all around tough guy.He belongs to "white supremacist" organizations, fought hard to keep the Confederate flag in South Carolina and, when an aide to the notorious racist Strom Thurmond admitted Thurmond had a half African-American daughter, Wilson abused and threatened the woman in an attempt to shut her up.
Yeah, but at least he doesn't lie like President Obama does, right? So what if he's partial to white?
Born in 1947, Wilson was prime material for the Vietnam War. After taking deferment after deferment for college and law school, in 1972, Wilson was glided into a coveted Army Reserve billet, protecting him from service in Vietnam.
He quit in 1975 with the fall of Saigon and transferred to the National Guard where he was a Judge Advocate, a "lawyer."
Wow, he must be pooped after all that combat!
Wilson has one of the worst records in Congress, having voted against Veteran funding 11 times. The only "veteran" Wilson has helped is himself.
That's Rushpublican for "sacrifice".
Though ending up with full health insurance and a fat military retirement, Joe Wilson, like Senator Lindsay Graham, both passed more qualified serving officers who were deployed to combat and moved into high paying positions as full Colonels, all done using political clout.
That's Rushpublican for "self-made man".
This gives both Wilson and his good friend and reportedly highest ranking gay officer in the US military, Lindsay Graham, substantial "double dip" retirements without ever having to actually serve in the real military and, especially, not during the Vietnam War.
Quit being so petty. I'm sure his political rival never even set foot in a recruitment office, let alone a combat zone. What a girly man!
Wilson's opponent in the upcoming election is Rob Miller, 13 year US Marine with 2 combat tours in Iraq.
Never mind.
Wilson, close friend and confidant of Fox Entertainment reality show host Glenn Beck is a strong advocate of private health care.
In fact he received over $ 400,000 in political donations from the health care industry in support of his position.
That's Rushpublican for "sex".
Insiders say that Beck helped stage the Wilson "impromptu theater" during the Presidents address to Congress, offering full support from Fox News in exchange for Wilson's violation of traditional Southern good manners, something Wilson has little familiarity with.
That's Rushpublican for "honest".

Sarah Louise Palin's military command limited, to say the least
By GottaLaff
When presumptive Republican presidential nominee John McCain introduced Gov. Sarah Palin as his vice presidential running mate Friday, the Arizona senator emphasized her role as commander in chief of the Alaska National Guard.I couldn't be more impressed.
Later, when questions were raised about Palin's lack of experience in national or international affairs, the McCain campaign pointed again to her military command experience as governor. Some reporters have tried to follow up. [...]
But the governor has no command authority overseas -- or anywhere in the United States other than Alaska, says Maj. Gen. Craig Campbell, the service commander of the Alaska National Guard.
"When members of the National Guard are federalized, they work for the president," Campbell said Wednesday. "It's not just overseas. They could be federalized to go to other states, or they could even be federalized in the state."
Occasions in which Palin does retain command authority over the 4,200-member Alaska National Guard are whenever the guard responds to in-state natural disasters and civic emergencies, said Campbell, who also serves as commissioner of the state Department of Military and Veterans Affairs.
Some examples?
"We've deployed individuals in state service all over the state under Sarah Palin," he said. "We had defense men down in Seward for the (Mount) Marathon run doing security.
"Out west and northwest we had erosion problems and the National Guard was involved in some of the protection out there. About three days ago, the Army National Guard picked up a lady from Little Diomede ... at the request of state troopers."
Did Palin directly approve each of those activities?
No, Campbell said. The governor has granted him authority to act on his own in most cases, including life-or-death emergencies when a quick response is required, or minor day-to-day operations.
The recent decision to deploy a C-17 cargo plane from the Alaska Air National Guard to Louisiana to assist during the Hurricane Gustav response was an occasion in which he briefed the governor's office and sought its approval, Campbell said. But in that case, chief of staff Mike Nizich signed off on the deployment.Wow! I'm... underwhelmed.
The flooding that occurred in Fairbanks in late July -- in which the guard sent water trucks north to provide clean drinking water -- didn't require the governor's approval, Campbell said.
Last year, during Palin's first year as governor, there wasn't much action, Zidek said. "Thankfully we didn't have any major disasters."Maybe she should think about becoming a community organizer.
Former Gov. Tony Knowles:
"I had more military action in one week when I was in the Army as a sergeant (in Vietnam) than I had as commander in chief for eight years," he said.
