"Sarah Palin has one of the lamest online efforts of any national political figure.”
By GottaLaff
[...] [S]everal GOP new-media strategists believe she has significant room for improvement when it comes to her web presence. [...]"Significant room for improvement" is such an understatement, and I'm not talkin' web presence here. I've rarely witnessed such a vast need for improvement. If there were a contest for that, Barbie would win.
[S]ome Republican new-media strategists are questioning whether or not her online effort can convert the energy and enthusiasm surrounding her tour into political action.
Florida-based Republican new-media consultant Jordan Raynor has a thing or two to say about this:
But Raynor, who claimed to be an “agnostic” regarding Palin, said that she has struggled to make a mark on web platforms other than Facebook.Maybe she quit in the middle of making an e-mail list. She's been known to do that.
"What I don't like about as far as an online strategy is that she puts most of her eggs in the Facebook basket. She should be extending her online cachet into other strategy,” he said.
Raynor and other consultants claim that her e-mail list of supporters could be larger considering her political celebrity.
Others, such as Alabama-based GOP new-media consultant Jeff Vreeland, lamented Palin’s decision to create a new Twitter account instead of changing the name of her gubernatorial account to keep her follower base of over 150,000, though it’s not clear that she was allowed to keep her old one. Here's my favorite quote of the article:
“It was just a complete failure for the people who support her,” Vreeland, who said he “still [has] questions” about Palin before he could consider voting for her should she run for office.
Senate Republican Conference online communications director Sean Hackbarth lobbed this charge at Palin’s online presence this week: “I'm sorry, Sarah #Palin has one of the lamest online efforts of any national political figure.”Let's see now. So far we have "lame", "significant room for improvement", "lacking", and "failure". Now that's what I call accurate reporting.
Let's see if we can find one final quote to end on. Why, here's one now!
Soren Dayton, a new-media consultant who has worked on Capitol Hill and on Sen. John McCain’s presidential campaign:
"She not converting her online energy for anything other than book sales right now”And the All About Me Tour continues...

May I just say

That Harold Ford Jr (lame, wussy) vs Tom Delay (unchallenged liar) in a cable show "debate" is just a fracking joke. I think all the gains I made in blood pressure maintenance by not watching "Morning Joe" anymore have disappeared.

Death throes of the clueless

Not to belittle the racist overtones, but isn't this just plain damn lame? Jeebus.
Los Alamitos Mayor Dean Grose is finding himself in hot water after sending out this fake photo of watermelons on President Barack Obama’s White House front lawn.
Grose’s email included the heading, “No Easter Egg hunt this year.”
“I think he’s saying that since there’s a black president, there will be no need to hunt for eggs since they’re growing watermelons in the front yard this year,” said Keyanus Price, an African American who was among those receiving the email. Price told Fletcher that she considers the email rascist and offensive.

New GOP Ad- We Are Republican
Reagan, guns (lovingly carressed) and Teddy Roosevelt. I want some of what they're smoking.
It's hard not to be struck, above all, by younger Republicans vision -- at this point, you could call it a fantasy -- of a party that isn't virtually all white.

A Salute To Tito The Builder
Not as well known as JTP, but easily twice as crazed. h/t Greg.
Tito is an extremely angry Colombian immigrant who did in fact own his own construction business and might even have paid his taxes (suck it, Joe!). Tito's trademark look could only be described as "Village People, but scary." He took the stage and appeared on TV in a construction helmet and orange vest, and almost always wore black biker sunglasses. The few times he appeared on TV without the sunglasses revealed that Tito has a slight tic that makes him appear to be incessantly winking at the viewer. No wonder Sarah wanted him by her side.
Of all the hail Mary's thrown by the McCain campaign, Tito was the final stunt that really made voters think "Oh man they are officially out of ideas." Possibly the least appealing campaign spokesman since, well, Tucker Bounds, Tito the Builder constructed hope in the hearts of Obama supporters. We knew that if Tito was being put on the air and on the stage at rallies, McCain really didn't have any tricks left up his sleeve, and maybe this would be the year we finally wouldn't lose.

McCain Still Trying to Find Spectators For VP Rally

Jeebus, why the hell am I poor? I'd KILL to be at this thing.
According to the Dayton Daily News, Sen. John McCain is still giving away tickets to his Friday rally where he will unveil his running mate. He's having trouble filling a 10,000 seat arena.
The contrast with Sen. Barack Obama giving a speech before 75,000 people tonight is striking and speaks to the excitement factor between the candidates. Obama tickets have been sold out for weeks.

McCain Website Launches New Blog
By Paddy
Okay. I'm tired and depressed. But, OMG, this is AWESOME!!!
Must. Monitor. Every. Day.
The McCain campaign has unveiled a new blog, dubbed "The McCain Report," that will allow supporters, reporters and bloggers to interact with the campaign. According to the campaign Website:The goal of this project is pretty straightforward: to provide journalists and bloggers with a little more insight into what's going on over here, to provide quotes and information you won't be able to get anywhere else, and to serve as a point of contact for online media.
I know you can see the excitement in my typing. "Insight" into the McCain campaign. What more could a girl ask for?
(wow- the video at the top of this post is the real video at the top of the McCain blog post. He's an ABBA fan. Erp)
