PhotOh! Pamper Me Barbie edition

By GottaLaff

Diva McPamperMe made a stop:

Sarah Palin spent several hours at Pamper Me Please in East Peoria last Saturday before her speaking appearance in Washington, as well as appreciation for some Alaskan coffee provide by Embassy Suites during her recent visit to the area.

She really is one of the people, isn't she? That's what she keeps telling us, anyway.

Personally, I have never gotten my nails done, nor do I go to a stylist of any kind. I do all that myself, including my own hair cuts. But that's just me. I don't happen have the money, patience, or time (or inclination) to spend in salons.

Now, there is absolutely nothing wrong with doing any of that, not at all. Plus it keeps a lot of people employed, and it goes without saying that most people can't cut their own hair.

Here is Pamper Me Barbie getting worked on (click to enlarge):

Now if you'll excuse me, I gotta go color my hair.

Rick Perry won't run for president or vice president

By GottaLaff

Rick Perry swearstogod he's not running in 2012, but I smell a loophole. Tell me if, in the following, you see any mention of his hair not running:

Texas Gov. Rick Perry (R) tells Newsweek there's no chance he'll run for President in 2012.

Newsweek: Everybody wants to know about your plans for 2012. Are you considering running and would you consider it?

Perry: No and no.

Newsweek: You are not considering running for president. You will not run for president.

Perry: That's correct.

Newsweek: Under any circumstances?

Perry: That's correct.

Newsweek: Vice president? Would you be willing to consider that?

Perry: No. I don't care about going to Washington, D.C.

Ohhh, we're on to you, Ricky. He's just saying that because he knows D.C. won't secede. He can't make 'em, he can't sweet talk 'em, and they don't want him. Texas can keep him.

Rick Perry: Most likely to secede, least likely to succeed, very likely to suck.

That was via Taegan, who has more.

No back wax for Rubio

By GottaLaff

http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2009/images/05/12/art.rubio0512.gi.jpg

See? Now this is whatcha call "real news":

Florida Senate hopeful Marco Rubio never charged a back wax to his Republican Party of Florida credit card, his campaign spokesman told CNN Tuesday, rebutting Gov. Charlie Crist's curious allegation about his Republican primary rival's grooming habits.

HairGate solved! Or is it BackGate? Or WaxGate? GateGate? WaxWax? Oh stop...

Rubio's spokesman Alex Burgos has the details:

"Marco paid $20 for a haircut with a razor on the neck, and he bought some items that went into a silent auction, including gift certificates," he said.

Whew! What would we have done had we not known that?!

I think what we need is a good old fashioned suh-nap! Why, here comes one now!

As for the back wax claim: "Charlie Crist's obsession with making up things about other people's grooming habits is bizarre for anyone, especially the sitting governor of Florida," Burgos said.

"It's also a shame he cares more about what's in Marco's personal bills than what's in the stimulus bill he supported."

Mark Sanford defends expensive travel, denies divorce

By GottaLaff

http://static.thehollywoodgossip.com/images/gallery/mark-sanford-photograph_231x344.jpg

Mark, Mark, Mark, do yourself a favor and take another airplane ride outta town:
South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford defended his trips on expensive international flights on Tuesday and said that a state Senate probe into his foreign travel is driven by a politically-motivated "feeding frenzy."
See, Mark, here's the deal: If you don't feed a frenzy, it ceases to exist. You know what they say: Starve a frenzy, feed a cold... No. Wait. That's not right.

Sanford also told reporters that he and his wife Jenny — who moved out of the governor's mansion in Columbia last week — are not getting a divorce.

She probably just took refuge at C Street. Hey, what's good for the goose... Oo, bad choice of words.

[...] Republican state Sen. David Thomas concluded an investigation that found Sanford violated South Carolina regulations by billing the state for business and first-class seats on international flights during trade missions in 2006 and 2007. [...] Thomas told CNN that Sanford's actions could be grounds for impeachment when the legislative session begins in January.

Sanford, speaking to reporters after a cabinet meeting Tuesday, said that the state Department of Commerce purchases tickets and argued that other South Carolina governors had flown business and first class when traveling overseas in the past.

Ah, the old "Hey, they did it so it's okay!" rationalization. So would you jump off an Argentinian cliff if other governors did that?

He said that if Thomas was really concerned about his travel practices, he should have called the governor's office instead of simply releasing the results of his investigation to the media.

"I did wrong, I messed up and there are consequences for that," Sanford said, referring to his affair. "But at some point it gets to the point of the absurd, where in political terms people smell blood in the water, and they keep coming and coming and coming."

Will you never learn, Off the Mark? Only when you keep sinning and sinning and sinning.

I bet he comes up with a really good excuse, though. He has to, or he's toast. I mean, seriously, if he tries to pull one over on us with something like, oh I dunno, "I need my rest", that would be so inexcusably lame:

Sanford contended that flying business class on international flights allowed him to rest before important meetings set up to attract business to the state. "Did folks really want this governor or some other governor to fly in, go to some meetings in Rome, and look haggard in the process?," he asked.

He did it. He used the excuse. Um, Mark? If it cost over $50,000 to prevent haggarditude, yes, by all means, look zonked.

The embattled governor also responded to an Associated Press investigation that revealed he used state planes for personal and political travel within South Carolina. Sanford said he has flown on state planes less than previous administrations. "We're not perfect," he said.

No he di-in't. Did he just make it a question of relativity? And then dismiss it with "nobody's perfect"? Why yes, I believe he did.

Okay but see, it's not the cost of the flights that count, see. It's the cost of the haircut:

Sanford said that some of the claims in the story — for example, that he took a flight from Myrtle Beach to Columbia simply to get a haircut — were taken out of the context of his full daily schedule. He noted that he went to get the haircut not at a fancy salon, but at the chain "Great Clips."

Sanford got a haircut, but South Carolina got fleeced.

Mark Sanford's hair cuts: From Supercuts coupons to private planes

By GottaLaff

http://www.comicbookgalaxy.com/images/mr_toast.jpg

Mark "Toast" Sanford apparently feels he needs to take his special state airplane to hair cut appointments. Hmmm, odd. Why odd? Here's why:
He still gets trims at Supercuts, and rarely forgets to bring a coupon. Sanford's libertarian politics are an extension of his penny-pinching quirks.
Yes, that's right. Mr. Frugal, seems to have changed drastically since April 25, 2009.

Nah, that can't be right. Nobody changes that much in only a few months. Unless....

Yes, that must mean he's a raging liar, somebody no one can trust. Yeah, that must be it.

Obama's Barber Pays a House Call

By GottaLaff

Fame has its price:
According to Obama staff, the president-elect stopped at the apartment of his friend, Mike Signator, to get a haircut. As staff explains, Obama's regular barber shop has now become a tourist mecca with people stopping by frequently to see if they might get a glimpse of the next occupant of the Oval. If the president can't go to his barber, the answer is to bring the barber to him. So, to avoid any security concerns, Obama's barber is wielding the scissors in Signator's apartment.
I love that Obama is still getting haircuts from the same man, no matter where they have to meet. Maybe all the new-found notoriety will bring the barber more business.

Obama's not even president yet, and he's already improving the economy. Wink.
