Tea Party tries to unload Ziegler's unsold Palin DVDs

By GottaLaff

It seems Ziegler had a few thousand DVDs left over. Marketing troubles, John?

Guess nobody believes that he has the "real story" after all. Or cares.

Who's John Ziegler? Why, he's this guy:

Via an e-mail, we see that Ziegler tries to dump his leftovers into the waste receptacle of choice:

A message to all members of Tea Party Nation

Conservative documentary filmmaker John Ziegler has created "Media Malpractice... How Obama Got Elected and Palin Was Targeted," which tells the real story of the 2008 election and its aftermath. The film features an exclusive, news-making interview with Governor Sarah Palin from her home in Wasilla (the uncut version of which is a special feature on the "Media Malpractice" DVD).

John has appeared on the Today Show, The View, The O'Reilly Factor, Glenn Beck, Hannity, Greta, CNN, MSNBC and many other outlets and created quite a stir in his quest to correct the historical record with regard to how the new media influenced the election of Barack Obama and the destruction of Sarah Palin's candidacy.

Even better than the low price is that for each DVD you purchase, $2 will go directly to the Tea Party Nation! It's a perfect win-win for conservatives.

Michael Moore collaborator working on documentary on Bush's military service

By GottaLaff

http://www.observer.com/files/article/gillettebush-military-2---g.jpg

A.K.A Rather's Revenge:
Documentary filmmaker and longtime Michael Moore collaborator Meghan O’Hara is currently working on a feature-length documentary about George W. Bush’s military service in the Texas Air National Guard, The Observer has learned.

Ms. O’Hara, who field-produced Bowling for Columbine and Fahrenheit 9/11, is in the early stages of getting the project off the ground. According to a source with knowledge of the situation, Ms. O’Hara’s New York–based production company, HonestEngineTV, does not yet have a venue for the documentary and is still seeking funding.
Anyone up for chairing a fundraising effort? Wow! 3,000 hands just went up! And that's just here in California!
HonestEngineTV, we’re told, is currently shopping it to potential partners, including HBO and the Weinstein Company. [...]

If successfully funded, Ms. O’Hara’s project would be the first major, in-depth documentary to dig into the murky subject.
Ohhhhpleaseohpleaseohplease. The very thought sends Matthewsian chills up my leg.

Whew! Was it good for you?

School: Obama speech too political, film of Muslim beheading infidels dandy

By GottaLaff

Mom, is Obama bad? At school today, they said I couldn't watch a Commiecrat talk about good study habits.

Mom, are beheadings good? At school today, they let me watch a movie about Muslims doing that:
A 17-year-old student is seeking counseling after her class at Pulaski County High School watched a short film that showed beheadings and other violence allegedly committed by Muslims, her father said Tuesday.
"Fitna", Rated G. Fun for the whole family!

Dad, Mom, please pass the popcorn? This is the good part! Oh em gee! That guy's head actually bounced! Aw man, there was hardly any blood!
Bill Cruey said his daughter Amber was horrified by images of children being injured and dead bodies interspersed with readings from the Quran while watching the film "Fitna," made by the anti-Islam and anti-immigration Dutch lawmaker Geert Wilders. The film was shown to the class on Sept. 11.
Maybe Prez O should have wielded a machete while he discussed good study habits.
Eaton said the film was shown to about 10 students in the leadership class.
Because nothing says leadership like violent head removal.
Since the controversy arose, he said his daughter has been ridiculed and feels like an outcast at the school.
Pshyeah! Cuz, like, all the kewl kids are into beheadings.
Aly A. Farag, imam at a Louisville mosque, criticized the school for exposing students to a "very tilted and utterly hateful message about a religion."

"They are blatantly and willingly participating in smearing a religion in front of kids who do not have the full picture," said Farag, a University of Louisville engineering professor.

Presenting such a message can turn children into "haters, not peacemakers," he said. Farag said almost all Muslims "never showed any pride in Sept. 11, never associated with it, never wanted it to happen."
Stay tuned for coming attractions of "Barack Hussein Obama: Muslim Indoctrinator or Marxist Baby Killer ?"

VIDEO: GM Bans Michael Moore From Detroit Premiere Of His Own Movie

By GottaLaff

They're awfully thin skinned for a Big Bad Powerful Entity, arent' they? Failure does that to a corporation:

Michael Moore, in interview with WDIV, discusses how GM is still heartbroken over 'Roger & Me' 20 years later — refusing to let him meet with press at the rented theaters at GM's Renaissance Building for the Detroit premiere of 'Capitalism: A Love Story."
GM should be grateful for all the free press it's getting these days. Oh, but I kid the Auto Giant:
Moore ran into problems when it turned out one of the theaters he rented for the screenings was owned by General Motors (GM) — which Moore famously skewered for its anti-worker policies in his 1989 film Roger & Me. [...]

GM agreed to run the movie only if both Moore and the local press were locked out. [...]

In addition to the over 1,000 theater opening Oct. 2, Moore plans to screen the film for free on Oct. 1 in the some of the poorest parts of the country.
As Moore asks in the video, "What country are we living in?"

Obama, the Movie: "One of the most media savvy bunch of campaigners in history."

By GottaLaff

On November 3, HBO will air "By the People: The Election of Barack Obama":

The project, which had its debut screening in Los Angeles on Wednesday, is among the most anticipated of all documentaries from last year because of the access they obtained by directors Amy Rice and Alicia Sams and producer Edward Norton.

You see it in the backstage moments, before Obama takes the stage to massive crowd, or in the victory trek that David Axelrod and David Plouffe take from the Chicago headquarters to the candidate's election night hotel suite, where there is a brief glimpse inside.

This documentary isn't "The War Room," D.A. Pennebaker's 1993 documentary about the Clinton campaign that focused almost exclusively on George Stephanopoulos and James Carville. "By the People" is less expose and more historical record, capturing the campaign from start to finish and most often in a positive light. [...]

The project is the brainchild of Rice, who started shooting Obama on May 11, 2006, and stopped on June 28, 2009. She described a process of constantly pressing for access, with the threshold higher as Obama headed toward Election Day.

There are candid moments in "By the People": access to Michelle Obama at home with Malia and Sasha, interviews with Obama's sister and brother in law in Hawaii, an audio interview with his grandmother, Madelyn Dunham, who describes the child Obama as a "normal boy" who "wanted to be a big-time basketball player." But there is nothing that could possibly be embarrassing about it. Obama and, by and large his staffers, are largely calm, cool and collected in their private moments. [...]

In another instance during the general election, Axelrod grouses, "It is getting very ugly out there. What McCain and Palin did was really irresponsible. They are inciting people." [...] There is some angst over Reverend Wright, as Obama's speech on race is cast as a kind of gutsy move to salvage the campaign, but it's hardly the level of the drama that played on on cable news.

"These are people who have a kind of instinctive restraint," Norton said. "It is one of the things you see about Obama, both publicly and in his private moments. You see how carefully he controls his emotional reactions. Even with the trust we established with them, Axelrod in particular is too savvy a person not to know the presence of a camera affects the way people talk and behave."

"At every generation in politics, people are more savvy at what it means to expose yourself, and I think this is one of the most media savvy bunch of campaigners in history." [...]

Blake, who now works as deputy associate director for intergovernmental affairs at the White House, trekked to Los Angeles for the screening. He said the movie will "remind us of why we all worked so hard."

"Change takes time," he said, "and I think the campaign is a testament to that."

I'll be DVRing.

Michael Moore's new film: 'Capitalism: A Love Story'

Nothing says romance like Wall Street:
Michael Moore's opting to spoof romantic conventions in titling his upcoming documentary "Capitalism: A Love Story," which addresses the causes of the global economic meltdown.

"It will be the perfect date movie," Moore said in an announcement Wednesday. "It's got it all -- lust, passion, romance and 14,000 jobs being eliminated every day. It's a forbidden love, one that dare not speak its name. Heck, let's just say it: It's capitalism." [...]

The film is described as focusing on "the disastrous impact that corporate dominance and out-of-control profit motives have on the lives of Americans and citizens of the world."

Don'tcha love a good chick flick? beating_heart_2.gif - (3K)

The release date is October 2.

Palin filmmaker John Ziegler is ba-a-ack

By GottaLaff

Just in case you've forgotten who this schmucko is, I've provided the video of the show Mr. Laffy worked on (amazing story that goes with it here), a Ziegler classic. Here are a few more reminders: Link link link link. Now here's the latest:

Do you remember this interview between John Ziegler and David Shuster? How about this one between Ziegler and Matt Lauer? Or maybe you remember when Ziegler was recently arrested outside an event featuring Katie Couric.

Tomorrow we talk to Ziegler live on the mediabistro.com Morning Media Menu about these confrontations and more. He's currently touring the country with his film "Media Malpractice," about the 2008 presidential election. We'll ask him what he thinks of media coverage since Pres. Obama has taken office.

Another sequel! One more chance for him to embarrass himself. I'm all a-flutter.

VIDEO: Charlie Crist to be outed in film--"We know what you did last session"

By GottaLaff

Out rage: They're mad as hell and they're not gonna take it any more:

The Republican governor of Florida, Charlie Crist, who is strongly considering a run for Senate, will be outed in a independent film being released tomorrow.

The film, “Outrage,” tracks the outings of prominent gay political figures, such as Crist and former Republican National Committee Chairman Ken Mehlman. It’s being produced by Magnolia Pictures and will appear in Landmark Theaters across the country.

“Using some firsthand accounts of former sexual partners, old campaign footage (to occasionally humorous effect) and commentary from gay political media watchdogs, the film makes the case for each man’s homosexuality, and presents his lifetime gay rights voting record,” according to one reviewer. “In each instance, the disconnect is staggering.

“The usual suspects are all there: Craig, Florida Governor Charlie Crist, former New York mayor Ed Koch, former New Jersey Governor Jim McGreevey, former Rep. Ed Schrock, even dusty McCarthy relic Roy Cohn. [...]

Salon notes that Crist is the biggest fish in the film for critics.

“The person most reviewers have been focusing on is Florida Gov. Charlie Crist, who was recently married — his engagement was announced right around the time when speculation was mounting that he could be chosen as John McCain’s running mate,” Salon’s Alex Koppelman writes. “He was actually first outed back in 2006, by Bob Norman, a reporter for the New Times Broward-Palm Beach, who was also the first reporter to the story of former Rep. Mark Foley’s sexuality, in 2003.

“And, in cases like Crist’s, it means that the media knows something its audience doesn’t, and is holding back information about people who are running for public office,” Koppelman added.

A Convenient Truth? Oscar-winner could be filming Obama

By GottaLaff

It's possible that an Oscar-winning director is shooting Barack Obama's biopic for the Big Democratic Convention:

Obama entered the mansion at 5:45. He reemerged at 6:43, with a stylish filmmaker in tow and a crew carrying a film camera, not a small digital camera.

Obama's traveling press aides still maintain that nothing is abnormal, but the filmmaker is Davis Guggenheim, the Academy Award-winning director of "An Inconvenient Truth." His father, Academy Award winner Charles Guggenheim, chronicled John F. Kennedy. [...]

Davis Guggenheim spoke briefly to a handful of reporters before realizing he shouldn't be. He then said he was merely traveling with his son in Montana and doing some interviews. All that is left is rank speculation -- that Guggenheim appears to be making the biopic for the convention.

He did a beautiful job on An Inconvenient Truth, but in this case, it doesn't take much to make Obama look beautiful. He's already there.

If Guggenheim is really shooting Obama's biopic, it will be stunning. Now I'm on pins and needles.
