Hannity And Steyn Attack Colin Powell Over Criticisms Of Limbaugh

As proof that Limbaugh is mainstream Republican, Steyn said, “Take Rush Limbaugh's listeners away from the Republican Party base and there isn't a lot left.
I think that's the whole point. Via Newshounds.

Mitt Romney shows us why middle America can't relate to Republicans

By GottaLaff

The Romneys are selling their ski retreat in Utah, as well as their home in Belmont, Massachusetts.
The Romneys are selling their ski retreat in Utah, as well as their home in Belmont, Massachusetts.

Yeah, sure, this is something the average American can relate to. Why, just the other day, I said to my limo driver, "Driver," I said (I call him "Driver", because he detests my repeated finger-snapping), "Ask Butler and Cook if I should dump a couple of our mansions. We really don't need all that extra space, now do we? I mean really, do we?.... Oh, and you just missed the Rodeo Drive exit":
He has been estimated to be worth in excess of $250 million, but former Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney may just be belt-tightening along with the majority of Americans.

Romney, the former business whiz and governor of Massachusetts, is looking to unload two of his four mansions, collectively valued in the currently-sour real estate market at close to $10 million.

The more expensive of the two homes is a 9,500 square foot cabin on 11 acres in Deer Valley, Utah, listed at $5.25 million. [...]

Also on the market is the Romneys' chief residence in the posh suburban Boston neighborhood of Belmont, where most home prices run well into the millions. [...]

Eric Fehrnstrom, a spokesman for Romney, said the moves are not an indication the nation's flagging economy has affected the Romney family.

"Now that the children are all grown with families of their own, the Romneys have too much space and are downsizing and simplifying," Fehrnstrom said.

Indeed.

I've been simplifying as well. Our his-and-hers saunas were becoming so cumbersome that we've converted them into indoor sports courts. Our house guests were complaining that the bowling alley and indoor pool simply weren't enough to keep them entertained.

Downsizing is so fun and trendy! Everyone should try it!

Now if you'll excuse me, dahlings, the maids are preparing my champagne bubble bawth. Do drop by a-gayne. See you at Spago! Air kiss!

Tonight's News In Five Sentences

By GottaLaff

Via Ambinder:

1. Sarah Palin is cleared of ethics charged by the independent counsel investigating Troopergate, the AP reports. (Note: Palin's state personnel board hired the independent counsel.)

2. McCain schedules election day events in New Mexico and Colorado

3. Bush's transition efforts are praised

4. Obama praises McCain for showing restraint on Rev. Wright

5. Really, Hank Williams, Jr.?
"You know, I'm usually at 'Monday Night Football tonight,' but Colorado, this is a lot more important tonight," Williams, Jr. said. "Join me now in our national--you know, that song that, uh, Mr. Obama's not real crazy about, we're singing it right now."
To Hank: Read labels.

John Boehner: Obama present votes "chicken s***"

By GottaLaff

The Boehner (pronounced phonetically) is such a classy guy, isn't he? Maybe he should try pallin' around with a brain:

House minority leader John Boehner's spokesman confirms the accuracy of this quote, from an Ohio student newspaper:

"Now, listen, I've voted 'present' two or three times in my entire 25-year political career, where there might have been a conflict of interest and I didn't feel like I should vote," Boehner said. "In Congress, we have a red button, a green button and a yellow button, alright. Green means 'yes,' red means 'no,' and yellow means you're a chicken s***.

"And the last thing we need in the White House, in the oval office, behind that big desk, is some chicken who wants to push this yellow button."

UPDATE: Boehner spokesman Don Seymour, er, clarifies: "Boehner’s point was that Barack Obama consistently avoided making tough decisions and taking tough votes, and voters need to know that. You can’t take a pass on a tough issue when you’re President of the United States."

Oh-h, that's what he meant. Thanks for the clarification, Don.

For a minute there, I thought he was a dips***. And by saying dips***, my point is that Boehner consistently avoided making acceptable comments and taking rational positions, and voters need to know that. You can't take a pass on a tough issue by making offensive comments about a future president when you're a House minority leader.

VIDEO: "Proud to offend" gun shop owner has 'Pre-Osama bin Biden' sale

By GottaLaff

This video is from ABCNews.com, broadcast October 17, 2008.
The bigotry continues:
A New Mexico gun shop owner says that he is "proud to offend" supporters of Barack Obama with its sign outside the store which reads "Pre-Osama bin Biden sale! Today, 7 PM - MIDNITE."

And even while the sale is over, the sign remains.

"If this sign offended people, I am damn proud of it," said shop owner Cope Reynolds in an interview with The Daily Times. Reynolds explained that "a lot of it is because of his Muslim upbringing."

Top Tampa GOP Figure Circulates Joke About Killing Obama

By GottaLaff

What is wrong with these cretins? Do they not realize, or care, that they are inciting hatred and violence?

Al Austin, a longtime, high-level Republican fundraiser from Tampa, today sent to his list of political contacts an e-mail containing a joke that refers to the assassination of Barack Obama.

Oh-h-h, it's a joke! Why didn't he just say that to begin with? We all love a good joke. Especially when it's about murdering a presidential candidate who happens to be black. That's a riot. Or it will be if this kind of despicable behavior continues.

When asked about the e-mail, Austin said it was a mistake and apologized and that he wouldn’t knowingly have circulated it. He said he planned to send an apology and retraction to the same e-mail list.

A retraction should take care of everything. Nothing says, "Put down your nooses and shotguns!" like a hasty e-mailed retraction.

Okay, so stop me if you've heard this one before. Tell it to the kids. They can share it with their little friends:

The joke concerns a group of schoolchildren discussing the definition of “tragedy” as opposed to “great loss” or “accident.” The punch line comes when one child says that if an airplane carrying Obama and his wife, Michelle, “was struck by a ‘friendly fire’ missile and blown to smithereens,” the event might be a tragedy “because it certainly wouldn’t be a great loss, and it probably wouldn’t be an accident either.”

How droll.

Austin acknowledged sending the e-mail to his list of political contacts but said he forwarded it without fully reading it and didn’t know what it said. That list included at least two reporters.

Once again, the Republican party proves that the Peter Principle is alive and well.

This poor excuse for a maggot needs to be fired. Now.

Newsflash! Cheney has a heart.... problem

By GottaLaff

They have apparently discovered a heart somewhere deep in the recesses of The Nation of Dick. The statement from Cheney’s spokeswoman Megan Mitchell:

Vice President Cheney will no longer attend a campaign event for Marty Ozinga in Homer Glen, IL today.

During a visit with his doctors this morning, it was discovered that the Vice President is experiencing a recurrence of atrial fibrillation, an abnormal rhythm involving the upper chambers of the heart.

Later this afternoon, the Vice President will visit George Washington University Hospital for an outpatient procedure to restore his normal rhythm.

If by "restoring his normal rhythm" they mean maintaining the status quo, then they should be sued for malpractice.

The racist solution

By GottaLaff

I'm sorry to do this to you, but get ready:

Now imagine if Obama supporters posted the equivalent of this about IWRC* Palin or Gramm-pa McCain.
It seems like the pushback over this disturbing image made the blogger responsible for nonsense to delete his post.

...but is he remorseful?

Well, it is gone. I'll tell you why. The point of the posting was being lost and the post itself was becoming the story. Which I never wanted to happen.

The point is, I made the far left have a knee jerk reaction. I also gave them something to talk about.

Again, as I stated in the actual posting itself, I never, ever wished any harm come to Obama, at all. I was simply making a point and doing exactly what the left is doing to Sarah Palin.

This is what we're doing to IWRC? Really? Has anyone seen any Democrat anywhere post any graphic images encouraging her murder?

This is what it's come to. The Republican party has self-destructed. It's devolved into a vast stinking garbage heap of malignant bigotry.

Hypocritical Republican pretense of patriotism and flag pins is now reduced to nothing more than fomenting hate and violence. It's despicable, outrageous, and... well, if I had a functioning brain today, I'd come up with something more coherent. At this point, any other words that comes to mind are unprintable.

McCain/Palin ignore Heart, use "Barracuda" again

By GottaLaff

Heart is not happy about Presidential Candidate Palin, and her Veep Choice McCain continuing to use their song without permission. I guess this is the same kind of disdain the campaign displays as they do when they tell the media that Palin will only speak to them when they're good and ready to send her out there.

To hell with everybody else, it's only Palin/McCain's priorities matter. Think about what that tells you about their governing style:
The rock band "Heart" may have asked John McCain and Sarah Palin stop playing their song "Barracuda" at their rallies, but the campaign is apparently paying no heed.

The track — played at the Republican National Convention in honor of the Vice Presidential nominee, who earned the nickname "Sarah Barracuda" playing high school basketball in Alaska — was pumped through the streets of Lebanon, Ohio on Tuesday morning at an outdoor rally before the GOP ticket showed up.

When the song was played after Palin's convention speech last week, the band members quickly requested that McCain and Palin pull the plug.

"Sarah Palin's views and values in no way represent us as American women," Ann and Nancy Wilson told Entertainment Weekly. "We ask that our song 'Barracuda' no longer be used to promote her image."

You can't get much clearer than that. These are two candidates who are exhibiting the same stubbornness and contempt as George W. Bush and Dick Cheney. Bush III/Cheney II.

But the McCain camp said last week that it had paid for and obtained all necessary licenses before using the song.

And the band's former guitarist, Roger Fisher, told Reuters last week that the McCain camp’s use of the song benefited both sides: Republicans get "the ingenious placement of a kick-ass song" — and Heart gets headlines and royalties. Part of that money, said Fisher, would be heading to the Arizona senator’s opponent: "With my contribution to Obama's campaign, the Republicans are now supporting Obama," he told Reuters.

I see they're also using the same twisted logic as Bush/Cheney. Bush III/Cheney II. Say it with me.

Over and over.

Obama is so black that he'll disgrace the office by being the "hip hop" president

By GottaLaff

I suggest that we all go to the Digg site, "bury" the piece, and enter a few "thumbs downs" on this racist piece of excrement. I will not provide a link to this.

If Barack Obama is to become our 44th president, it will be heralded as a moment of historic significance unlike any other. However, I think many are missing the real reason why.

It's because Barack Obama will be our first hip-hop president. I can only imagine how the world will embrace the leader of the free world when [...] the first lady Michelle talking about "my man" the "daddy of my babies" when referring to the president. That should go over well everywhere from 10 Downing Street right on down to the streets of the Middle East. [...]

Of course, having no sense of decorum and awe is nothing new to Democrats. Bill Clinton did a masterful job of disgracing the office, and I expect no less from Obama if given the chance.

But he will be so fly! [...]

Watching the hip-hop president in the Oval Office with his baseball cap on backward coping a gansta lean in the big chair. Should be really pimp, don't you think? Cool man, real cool. Instead of giving away presidential cuff links to guests, as is the custom, he will offer "bling bling." [...]

After a few months on the job, he can refer to his cabinet members as his "bitches." Hey don't get angry at me. Take a listen to any hip-hop song, and that is the type of endearing language you will hear.

Angry? Is anyone angry with poor Craig R. Smith for simply repeating what he hears?

A group of playas that have no respect for the country. The same country that affords them a lifestyle most people only dream of, and all they can do is endlessly complain about it. Barack is very good at putting America down. Just like his hipster homeboys. Remember that hip-hop is a culture, not a color.
Of course. Craig is color blind. This is all about culture. Please remember that as he continues his intellectually and morally bankrupt analysis of the Big Bad Black Man.

Make no mistake about it. Barack Obama is dangerous for America. [...] How can you lead something you hate? And before you say I am wrong, look again at who he chooses as his friends – Haters of America with a capital "H."

And in contrast, we can all see how full of love and compassion Craig is. I'd tell him that to his face, but he's not available. He's off somewhere, looking for his white hood.

If I sound a bit concerned about Obama acting as a spokesman from the Beijing Chamber of Commerce; indulge me. I only wish Obama was as excited about America as he is about Red China. Then again maybe he has a vision for a "New" America. One in which we are more like those fine Chinese. Better red than dead, Barack? [...] But hey, he will be dope. He will use all the cool language and slang. He will be a president who is able to hang with the homies. [...]

And every day he is on the campaign trail dissing America, more Americans will realize he is not the savior. He is merely Barack Obama … hip-hop senator from Illinois.

Maybe you should give him a call and show him some love:

Craig R. Smith is an author, commentator and popular media guest because he instantly engages audiences with his common-sense analyses of local, national and global trends. Cheney's link to corrupt senator Stevens exposed

By GottaLaff

Oh dear. Oh my and oh dear:
Vice President Dick Cheney has been linked to Alaska Senator Ted Stevens, who the Justice Department has accused of seven counts of falsely reporting hundreds of thousands of dollars, Newsweek reported.

In a conversation secretly recorded by the FBI on June 25, 2006, Stevens "discussed ways to get a pipeline bill through the Alaska Legislature with Bill Allen, an oil-services executive accused of providing the senator with about $250,000 in undisclosed financial benefits."

Stevens told Allen: "I'm gonna try to see if I can get some bigwigs from back here and say, 'Look … you gotta get this done'."

Only two days later, Cheney took the unusual step of writing a letter to the Alaska legislature which pushed the members to "promptly enact" a bill that would approve the pipeline.
Aw, come on, let's not be hasty. We all know the Nation of Dick is innocent. He'd never do anything underhanded. He's a fine, upstanding gentleman who always insists on complete transparency. Give him a break. There's no witness, no proof. Wild accusations, as usual. Fuggetaboutit.
Stevens revealed that he asked the vice president to send such a letter.
Never mind.
