Danny Glover stepped past the dreaded yellow tape. That got him cuffed.

Okay, he did it thrice. And yes, I just wanted to say "thrice".

He and 11 other tape-steppers were arrested during a labor union protest at a Maryland food service company:

The Service Employees International Union was protesting what it calls Sodexo's unfair and illegal treatment of workers. Sodexo says the union was spreading misinformation.

The consequences: Pay $1000 or do 90 days.

That rebel.

VIDEO- ACORN filmmaker: ‘I don’t know’ if I broke law

The filmmaker behind the ACORN tapes says he doesn’t know if he broke Maryland law when he filmed workers at the group’s Baltimore office.

Come on, that doesn't matter. The ends justify the means, right Slick?

Fox’s Chris Wallace named James O’Keefe the “Power Player of the Week” for the videos he made of himself and a female companion pretending to be a pimp and a prostitute, soliciting advice from ACORN workers on how to cover up the importation of underage prostitutes from Latin America. [...]

It should be noted the hidden-cam video involved only false claims of prostitution and child smuggling. Under Maryland law, all parties involved in a private conversation must consent to be recorded, under criminal penalty.

Maryland’s state’s attorney is reportedly considering bringing charges against O’Keefe for his role in the video.

Okay, now stop me if you've heard this one, but it's a real knee-slapper. I'm telling you right now, it'll slay you:

Fox’s Wallace said O’Keefe describes himself as a “progressive” who developed a “special outrage” against progressive movements because of what he perceived as their hypocrisy and excessive political correctness.

why doesn't obama go to a rally that isn't dominated by blacks and poor people, instead he should go to a rally for everyday americans who actually pay their taxes, which support the blacks and poor people

I guess he/she missed this cartoon or him/herself.... not that he/she would understand it, appreciate it, or even know how to read it (well, maybe the pictures... maybe).

VIDEO: Maryland Water Main Break Highlights Need For Infrastructure Spending In Federal Stimulus

Obama's challenges as the new president remind me of how I'd feel if I invested every bit of myself emotionally, intellectually, and financially in an enormously, hugely, gigantic new fixer-upper mansion, and during escrow, discovered that its roof just collapsed:

This [water main] incident underscores the vital need for including infrastructure funding in the upcoming economic stimulus bill. Maryland, like so many other states, is facing a budget crunch to deal with its much-needed repairs. Gov. Martin O’Malley has been urging President-elect Obama to make an early investment in infrastructure. “Not only would an infusion of funds help keep people employed and create new jobs,” O’Malley said, “it would allow us to deliver infrastructure improvements that will last beyond the immediate economic crisis and benefit generations to come.”

In an interview with Washington DC’s CBS affiliate WUSA9, Montgomery Country council member Roger Berliner stressed the point, saying the state is suffering an “epidemic” of infrastructure breakdowns. “We simply don’t have the money to take care of it,” he said. “We need help from the federal government.”

While President Bush has stubbornly refused to address the need for immediate infrastructure investments, President-elect Obama has expressed his strong desire to make it a priority.

The previous owner of my imaginary fixer-upper could have made at least some of the necessary repairs, but instead, abandoned it for a Texas ranch with an abundance of excess dry brush, and left my family and me to fend for ourselves.

Democrats Add to House Majority

A Maryland House seat long held by Republicans has officially gone Democratic, according to reports. Frank Kratovil, Jr., a Democratic states attorney, claimed the win Tuesday morning — a full week following the elections — after state Sen. Andy Harris, his GOP opponent, conceded defeat.

It was hardly a traditional contest. The district has been historically conservative, with GOP Rep. Wayne Gilchrest controlling the seat for the past 18 years. According to Congressional Quarterly, Gilchrest also contributed to Harris’ loss:

Kratovil, who was aided by the national Democratic Party’s momentum throughout this election year, also benefitted enormously from a deep rift within Republican ranks resulting from the conservative Harris’ defeat of the more moderate Gilchrest in the district’s Feb. 12 primary.

Gilchrest and his loyalists were embittered by attacks from Harris and outside conservative groups, such as Club for Growth, that questioned his credentials as a Republican. And Kratovil soared into serious competition in early September when Gilchrest crossed party lines to endorse him to be his House successor.

The confirmed victory bumps the number of Democratic House seats next year to 255 — 20 more than the party currently controls. And that margin could grow. Five races around the country remain to be decided.
