A list of things my father taught me

To take off from Athenae's list, here are (some of the) things that the Janek taught me.

1) If you believe in something, you better be prepared to argue for it passionately because no one is going to give you a break.

2) Sardines and potatoes are a gourmet meal any time of the day.

3) Seventeen is not too old to be chased around a churchyard by a belt wielding father. (especially when you deserve it)

4) Black socks, Bermuda shorts and canvas shoes should be all you need for the best of restaurants. (oh, and a guayabera)

5) Real men don't need belly buttons.

6) It never hurts to have a six pack stashed where the spouse can't find it.

7) It doesn't matter if anyone else thinks the joke is funny as long as you laugh at it.

8) A lovely afternoon can be spent going thru bags of pennies looking for that elusive treasure.

9) Never underestimate a grandfather's right hook.

10) No regrets. Only forward.
