Dems plan fundraisers around Inauguration

Waste not, want not, and when it comes to $$$$, the Dems are not wasting a minute:

...Democrats, not wanting to pass up a golden opportunity, are sprinkling fundraising events between the dozens of Inaugural balls, parties and cocktail hours scheduled for the next week.

Money-centric events kick off Sunday morning at the Willard Intercontinental, where Democrat Al Franken is hosting a brunch to solicit funds for his ongoing legal battle over the results of the Minnesota Senate race.

The Democratic Governors Association is planning its own series of fundraising events [...]

The New Democrat Coalition, a group of business-centric members of the majority, has a reception set [...]

And the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC), fresh off a cycle in which it raised record amounts of cash, will host what promises to be a swinging bash Monday [...] House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) will join big donors for a concert with rockers Jon Bon Jovi, Lyle Lovett and Sheryl Crow.

A DCCC spokesman said the event is more of a thank-you to major donors, who will pack the 1,000-seat auditorium in downtown Washington. [...]

Several other incumbent members of Congress are set to host their own smaller fundraisers at venues around the city, according to sources who keep tabs on fundraising events.
