Shallow Thoughts: Where's Fox? edition

Today's Shallow Thought:

ClusterFox is the only network-- besides the Cartoon Network-- that is not broadcasting the Hope for Haiti Now Telethon. Actually, Fox is the Cartoon Network, so they alone are shunning this event. (thank you MADNews101)

ClusterFox: Home of the tearful Glenn Beck; the always genuine Sean Hannity; the compassionate-to-a-fault Bill O'Reilly; and the oh-so-maternal Sarah Palin. It's obvious from their roster of on-air talent that Fox is a passionate, caring network.

Yet there not an ounce of time or effort was devoted to helping people in dire need. ClusterFox apparently needed the money more than the Haitians do.

That was today's Shallow Thought. Thank you for wading in.

Local GOP cancel speech by Utah governor-- too moderate

Well isn't that just like the Rushpublics? I may have to start calling them the Tushpublics:

Joanne Voorhees, the chairwoman of the Kent County Republican party in Michigan, has "abruptly canceled" an upcoming fundraiser with Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman, Jr. (R). Voorhees "said that hosting the moderate Utah governor would mean abandoning the party's conservative principles." [...] Huntsman sharply criticizes the national GOP leadership, giving them an "incomplete" grade on their first 100 days as an opposition party to President Obama. "Instead of just kind of grousing and complaining, it would do us all a whole lot of good if we actually started engaging directly in finding compromises and common ground and shared solutions," said Hunstman."

Huntsman should think about changing teams right about now...

Michael Aluminum does it again: Bishop to shun Steele's address at pro-life banquet

Look up "loser" in the dictionary. Yes, that's him:

A Roman Catholic bishop in Indiana will shun a pro-life banquet if Republican National Committee Chairman Michael S. Steele addresses the sold-out event, The Washington Times has learned.

The other honoree at the April 16 Vanderburgh County Right to Life (VCRL) banquet is Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, and the snub by Bishop Gerald Andrew Gettelfinger of Evansville over Mr. Steele could embarrass Mrs. Palin, a hero to pro-lifers, and reverberate throughout the movement.

Tsk! That would be ::stifling snicker:: awful!

Mrs. Palin, an evangelical, is twinned with Mr. Steele, a Roman Catholic, as the featured attractions at the banquet, billed as the biggest such event in the nation and expected to attract more than 4,500 people.

Nor will Bishop Gettelfinger be the only prominent area pro-lifer to shun the banquet over Mr. Steele. Evansville Catholic Charities Director Jim Collins also plans to boycott the gathering, saying he was "shocked" by Mr. Steele's answers on abortion during a recent interview.

He's referring to these answers.

"No pro-life person could have answered the way he did," Mr. Collins said. "I don't care how he dances around it afterward, he is not a pro-lifer," he added, contending that Mr. Steele's presence would thus tarnish the event.

Oooopsie! Seems Aluminuminuminum not only made an irreconcilable boo-boo, he's also a really bad dancer.

"The banquet has always been the high point because the speaker was always someone who had impeccable pro-life credentials - who had actually accomplished something to protect human life in the womb," Mr. Collins said, adding that he has "not found one credible achievement by Michael Steele" on pro-life issues.

We here at TPC have not found one credible achievement by Michael Steele... on any issue.

Why would they want to get anywhere near the guy who let Iran acquire enough enriched uranium for a single crude nuclear bomb on his administration's watch (more of a political milestone than a technical one — there is no evidence to suggest that Iran has an actual bomb or the highly-enriched uranium needed to make one just yet)?

That's quite a legacy. Apparently, nobody wants to shake hands with the moron who allowed one of the "Axis of Evil" to achieve such a milestone, among other things. So, so many other things.

McCain not included on CPAC invite

Slap in the face much? Even Sarah Louise got an invite!

Votes are still being counted in some states, but conservatives stinging from last night’s losses are planning to get together to plan the movement’s future — and so far, it doesn’t look like that vision includes John McCain.

McCain, who made a poorly-received appearance at the Conservative Political Action Conference last year, was not included on a list of major movement figures invited to next year’s gathering e-mailed to supporters Wednesday morning. More than a dozen conservative leaders made the cut — including McCain’s running mate, Sarah Palin.

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich and Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal have also been invited to address CPAC in February, along with McCain’s former primary season rivals Mitt Romney and Ron Paul. [...]

Last year, McCain faced a thorny reception during a rare appearance at the gathering, as his visit – and even the mention of his name – drew boos from many in attendance.

Gramm-pa needs to drive one of his 13 cars to one of his 9 houses and retire.
