Bernie Madoff Assaulted in Prison?

I'm not a fan of headlines with question marks, but sometimes they're necessary:

An ABC affiliate in North Carolina is reporting that Bernie Madoff was admitted to Duke University Hospital last Friday with serious injuries consistent with an assault.

Officials at the prison won't confirm the report, hence the ?

WTVD, the ABC affiliate in Raleigh-Durham, says that according to sources the convicted Ponzi schemer had facial fractures, broken ribs and a collapsed lung and was discharged from Duke two days ago.

Ouch!

Seems some fun stuff happened today in the Congressional hearings (skip to about 5:15). Another little tidbit from the whistleblower testmony-

A bombshell is buried in Harry Markopolos' prepared testimony to a House panel today: he contacted the Wall Street Journal on the Bernie Madoff fraud three years ago, and the newspaper did nothing.

I feel for the WSJ, it's never easy to admit your buddies are crooks.

Why did MSNBC find it necessary to postpone all other news stories to spend the last half hour showing O.J. Simpsonesque aerial shots of Bernie Madoff's motorcade making its way to a federal courthouse?
