On Fox News Sunday today, host Chris Wallace played a series of clips of McCain referring to himself as a “maverick” and asked how he could say that he never considered himself one.

New McCain Squirmage Rule: If you can't wiggle out of in-your-face evidence that contradicts lies you've told-- about yourself-- morph your message into one that sounds less dishonest.

Viewer Rule: Nice try, J Sid. McCainFail. "You lie!"

Joe Lieberman, "You lie!"

Here's what Joe Lieberman, accusing President Obama of pulling a bait and switch, said:

"It’s classic politics of our time that if you look at the campaign last year, presidential, you can’t find a mention of public option," Lieberman said. "It was added after the election as a part of what we normally consider health insurance reform — insurance market reforms, cover people, cover people who are not covered." [...]

President Obama backed the public option during the campaign. For example, the Obama-Biden health care plan proposed a new public plan.

I just know you're a step ahead of me here. Let's say it together:

Joe "You Lie!" Wilson "Lies!" to Roll Call

This is all I could get (subscription only):

Rep. Joe Wilson (R-S.C.) voted against the daughter of House Majority Whip James Clyburn (D-S.C.) for a spot on the state Public Service Commission in 1998 when Wilson was a state Senator, contrary to a statement he made to Roll Call Wednesday.

Now to be fair, maybe there's more to this story, but since I can't access it, and based on what I know about Joe the Mouther, all I can say is...

.... He lied!

CliffDoggie's back, and he goes after Joe "You lie!" Wilson... and more:



Cliff Schecter is a very talented political analyst, Democratic consultant/strategist, and author (The Real McCain). He's also a good friend... so good, in fact, that he convinced me to co-edit this very blog with him and Paddy a couple of years ago.

He's been busy working on Very Important Things, so he had to leave The Political Carnival (he may pop in again, though, stay tuned...)

I nicknamed him "Bulldog" because of his ability to go up against any political talking head, sink his teeth into him/her, and not let up. When given the chance, he devours his opponents. This video doesn't get quite as wild and woolly as usual, but he still gets to strut his stuff.

It's so good to see him back on air, especially on my Twitter pal David Shuster's show.
