Quote of the Day

Whoa, too bad Cliff didn't know about this when he wrote his book... Via Taegan-

"I don't like him. He is not a very pleasant person. He is nasty, mean; the skin of an onion would look deep compared to his. He has a short fuse, he is almost peculiarly unstable."

-- Former Rep. Tom Tancredo (R), in an interview with a Dutch newspaper, about Sen. John McCain (R-AZ).

As Ben Smith notes, Tancredo is also quite negative on Sarah Palin.

VIDEO-- Bernard Goldberg on Hannity: Chris Matthews is a "hooker putting out for Obama"

By GottaLaff

Pot, kettle, black, blech!

But of course, Hannity et al. never used Fox Noise as a porn site for all things Bush (pun intended). Sparing the rod was never one of their shortcomings (both puns intended). All this cockiness (pun intended) is particularly unflattering in light of Hannity's usual comings and goings (pun intended). I don't mean to be too hard on him (pun... you know)-- okay, yes I do-- but what a dick (you know the drill... Bada bing! Double pun intended).

L.A. Times Letter: We the people are culpable

By GottaLaff

A letter in today's L.A. Times:
We the people are culpable

Re “Lawless and soon long gone,” editorial, Dec. 24

Do you have any idea how ridiculous it sounds for you to offer up as a "reckoning" a "scathing report by the Senate Armed Services Committee"? Do you really think that Cheney and Donald Rumsfeld care about that?

I have an idea. The next time a criminal breaks into your house, instead of arresting and prosecuting him, let's just get the Senate to issue a scathing report condemning him and let him get away with that as his punishment. That'll teach 'em!
An impeachment inquiry would be such a nice option (albeit improbable at this point), and it would serve so many purposes: An investigation would bring new information to light (executive privilege doesn't extend to an impeachment inquiry), and also prevent Bush from pardoning anyone else.

Scathing reports may give us some details and soothe a few people, but they don't do much in the way of remedies.

Oh, and then there's that little matter of sending a strong message to future administrations that no president or vice president is above the law.

Department Of Thin Skinned Wankers

The video in reference is here.

Broadcasting & Cable's Marisa Guthrie talks to Sean Hannity about his upcoming new show, but also about Jon Stewart's tribute to Alan Colmes on last night's Daily Show.

"I was actually thinking of Jon [Stewart] as a co-host but I needed someone who could be smart and funny without 50 writers and two has-been rockers who are badly in need of Botox," said Hannity. Ouch.

Dana Milbank Is A

Pick your pejorative. Gotta doesn't let me cuss.

Summary: In an online discussion, Dana Milbank dismissed participants' criticisms of his July 30 column -- a "sketch" of Sen. Barack Obama's "premature presidency" -- as "whines." Milbank began the discussion by acknowledging that "some of you have some thoughts you'd like to share about yesterday's Sketch on the premature presidency of Barack Obama," and before taking questions, wrote: "I've decided to approach today's chat as a wine writer would. ... Today, I am inaugurating the Whine Enthusiast, in which I will rate your whines."
