I'm still playing catch-up, so allow me to put up a pointless, silly little Quickie:

I was reading the news crawl rolling by just before MSNBC cut away to a commercial. Along came a little something about the Obama "White Hose..." So many bad one-liners come to mind, and I'm struggling to censor myself in the worst way.

That was today's Quickie. Will you still respect me in the morning?

VIDEO: Fox News allows racist "Magic Negro" viewer message on its news crawl

Leave it to Fixed Noise to push racism. They were using the news crawl that scrolls across the bottom of the Tee Vee screen for personal New Years messages sent in by viewers. They displayed their usual flawless judgment and good taste for the entire world to see:

While most messages were cordial, Fox allowed at least one racist message directed toward President-elect Obama to be broadcast. The message referenced Rush Limbaugh’s “Barack the Magic Negro” song:

HAPPY NEW YEAR AND LET’S HOPE THE MAGIC NEGRO DOES A GOOD JOB. LOVE JEN AND JOHN C.

Shallow Thoughts: Annoying news crawl at the bottom of your TV screen edition

Today's Shallow Thought:

Has anyone else noticed that CNN no longer runs that annoying news crawl tickery thing across the bottom of their broadcasts any more? Instead, they flip little update cards. It's a much cleaner look, much less irritating, much easier to read, and much more like CNN International.
