Here's why there is no deal with Rep. Bart Stupak (D-MI): Roll Call reports House Democratic leaders appear to be succeeding in their push to peel off abortion-rights opponents lined up with Stupak against a health care overhaul.

"Stupak said those standing with him now number about six -- down from the rough dozen he has claimed for weeks. That is likely enough to put the majority within striking distance of the 216 votes they need for passage."

Meanwhile, The Hill notes that Stupak is still considering whether an executive order from President Obama ensuring that federal funds would not go toward abortions would sway his vote.

Coulter canceled

This and this prove that there is nobody more deserving of cancellation than the Madam's Apple:

Ann Coulter's appearance on the "Today" show has been canceled.

NBC had come under fire for booking Coulter, who had been scheduled to promote her new book, Guilty, on the "Today" show Thursday morning.

Score one for our side. What does the poor Madam have to say about this? Here's her website entry. Please note, the author [sic] can't spell either (Hey Madam, "canceled" has one L):

TODAY SHOW AND TODAY SHOW FOURTH HOUR: CANCELLED!

I guess this ends the "they just want to get ratings" argument about liberal media bias.

Gramm-pa McCain's aunt: " it will kill him, but he's going to die one day anyway"

On MSNBC just now: Virginia absentee ballots are being held for counting as late as November 14th, per a judge, including military overseas ballots. Gramm-pa McCain's team pushed for this, which actually makes sense. This could hold things up, says Keith Olbermann.

But that's not important now. Here's what is important:

Says McCain's mom no longer cares about election, and that McCain may die, but at least he'll be president.

A grueling and bitter campaign has taken its toll on family morale, John McCain's aunt, Rowena Willis, told The Daily Beast today in an exclusive interview.

According to the 96 year-old Willis, her twin sister, Roberta McCain, the candidate's mother, has become resigned to her son's electoral fate.

Hey, that doesn't sound very optimistic! Willis:

"I'm hoping he wins, for the country's sake. I figure it will kill him, but he's going to die one day anyway, so he might as well do it there," she said, "But that man is honest—he has all the money in the world, he could do whatever he wants, even without his wife's money, which he does not have; they keep it separate. He has a good pension from the Navy and my father was very rich."

Well, gee, so long as he's got all that money, the rest doesn't really matter.
