Honduran de facto FM resigns after racial remarks about Obama

I posted about the incident here. Now we have breaking news:

AFP: Honduran de facto FM has resigned after calling President Obama a "little black man," interim president Micheletti said.

The Foreign Relations Minister said he was sorry, took his toys, and went home.

I wonder if he got a phone call of encouragement from Sarah the Quitter.

Honduran official apologizes to Obama for racial remark

The Department of Palin refers to the White House Department of Law. Now this, apparently addressed to the White House Department of Apologies:

The foreign relations minister in Honduras' interim government says he has sent a letter to Barack Obama apologizing for a racial comment he made about the U.S. president.

Enrique Ortez says the letter expresses "his most profound apologies" for "an unfortunate comment."

In a TV interview, Ortez said Obama "is a little black man who doesn't know where Tegucigalpa is located."

Ortez says the remark made before he was named to the post was not meant to offend anyone. [...]

Ortez also read a statement in Spanish from U.S. Ambassador Hugo Llorens that said: "I express my profound indignation for the unfortunate, disrespectful and racially insensitive comments made about President Barack Obama."

Well, as long as he made the comments before he was foreign relations minister...
