The spot, which directly names CNN president Jonathan Klein, comes as Dobbs’ birther footsie is ballooning into a serious problem indeed for CNN. The Associated Press has now labeled Dobbs a “publicity nightmare” for the network who has “embarrassed” Klein. And yesterday, New York Times columnist Frank Rich noted that “one of the loudest birther enablers is not at Fox but CNN.”
That Fox comparison, coming on the Op ed page of The Times, has to rankle CNN execs and editorial staff. The question now is whether the campaign against Dobbs will foment internal discord at the network and ratchet up internal pressure on CNN brass to politely ask that Dobbs knock it off already.
