Sarah the Quitter's last ramble as governor: Liveblog

By GottaLaff

This will be painful, but somebody's gotta do it:

It's always great to be in Fairbanks... maybe that's because she's never in Alaska.

Again, she's emphasizing the military... immediately.

Soaring ... something about wintertime, Denali... frigid beauty... Tacos?? Summertime, 50 degrees hotter... describing merciless rivers rushing and carving and HERE, Mother Nature wins. ... Well, somebody's gotta, huh Sarah?

Hope and opportunity and country pride... men and women in uniform securing it... ramble blahblah...

The press: Perpetuating pessimism, "suggesting America apologetic," and that's a quote. "America apologetic."

How can that be when our pride produced volunteers who sacrifice everything for country?

Freedom of speech, which, par for the course, I'm going to exercise.

First some straight talk to SOME in the media... you have such important jobs reporting facts, power to influence... you represent honest profession ....DEMOCRACY DEPENDS ON YOU... which is why our troops are willing to die for you, so in honor of our Amer. soldiers, ya QUIT MAKING THINGS UP.

"LEAVE HIS KIDS ALONE"... [re: her successor, Parnell] (I missed some, phone rang)

Our founders wrote... blahblah... We've done our best to fulfill promises... Our state so deserved ethics reform... now abused.... (paraphrased)

We promised you get fair return on Alaska-owned resources. Competition, transparency, protection for Alaskans. Open up oil basins. You ARE the resource owners, per our constitution.

I promised we'd fund education, improve opportunities for special needs students, etc. I promised, I promised, I promised... that we'd defend the Constitution. Outside interest groups JUST don't GET IT.

Defend your spine?? Did she say that?

You'll see circuses from Hollywood.... delicate tiny celebrity starlets for anti-second amendment causes....WTF?

Hollywood needs to know, we eat, therefore we hunt.

Lots of nose wrinkling and insane sentence structures, missing words, extra words... help!

Free market, private sector principles! Will make us a more peaceful, prosperous nation.

More good down the road... pioneering spirits... resist enslavement to big overbearing gov't. Beware of accepting govt. largesse... it doesn't come free. Powerful caretaking arm ... makes us less free.

I resisted the stim package... break cycle of dependency, and other states should follow this. Alaska must be allow to DRILL...

Govt. can't make you happy, healthy, wealthy, or wise. Family does.

Remember bumper sticker: Alaska, we don't give a darn how they do it outside. Remember that? ... We can still do this, carve wealth out of the wilderness... now with smarter technology. It's what our parents did. It worked...cuz THEY worked.

We've come so far in 50 years. Now we're a contributor and securer of America. .. Energy independence... inherent link between energy and security and prosperity. We can be pro-development and pro-environment.

Strategic location on the globe, gatekeeper of the continent.

Some still choose not to hear why I made decision to chart new course... it should be SO OBVIOUS TO YOU. [cheers] It is because I love Alaska this much, sir, that I avoid... lame duck session in office. How does that benefit you?

IS SHE OUT OF HER MIND??

I have never felt you need a title... Let's vow to adovocate smaller govt., freedom. Remember I promised I'd doggedly guard the interest of this great state like a grizzly guards her cubs... She named all her kids, and Todd... will be so grateful... I am blessed too. Thank you for our home, mom and dad. Here it is impossible to lose your way... we have that steady great North Star to guide you home.

She lost her way years ago.

Say good night, Sarah. "Good night, Sarah... you betcha." Oy, she can't even do that right.

Commentary: Hard to believe that just because she'd be a lame duck, she'd be saddling Alaska, says Candy Crowley. She won't give up the microphone, heard nothing of her successor. Republican talking points. She won't be sitting at home.
