Punditiots react to President Obama's town hall meeting

By GottaLaff

Andrea Mitchell: It's a plea of urgency, it may not be the right size, the right scope, so we have to do it.

Roger Simon: He has to convince Congress that the public is on his side.

Richard Wolffe: He got into details, but the big news: The Rs are the party of failed ideas of the past. He's appealing to independent voters.

John Harwood: There was a level of humility. And he also said he couldn't promise that all the provisions would work 100%. He also took a different stand: Money for education put back in.

Chris Matthews: It needs to be big, we need to do it, and we need to do it fast. And he doesn't want to quibble. He's daring them. I've got the people behind me, don't get in my way.

Mitchell: And he has the Gallup Poll behind him.

Simon: But a poll is a thin reed to use. He has to convince them that there is no choice but to spend.

Wolffe: He doesn't mind much about specifics, he wants to throw money at it now and get action.

Simon: He owns it now, the Democratic party owns it.
