IRS Clears United Church of Christ On Tax-Law Violations Over Obama Speach

The Internal Revenue Service told the United Church of Christ, Sen. Barack Obama's denomination, that it didn't violate tax laws when the presidential candidate addressed 10,000 church members last June.

In a letter released by the UCC, an IRS director said that the UCC hadn't engaged in prohibited political activity, and that the denomination remains a nonprofit entity.
