Poll-itics: Obama most popular world leader

President Obama is the most popular leader in all the land world. Take that, Tea Tantrumers:

Obama received 77% support from respondents in the U.S., Italy, Spain, France, Britain and Germany. He just edged out the Dalai Lama, who garnered 75% support. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton came in at 62%, with Pope Benedict XVI receiving just 36% support.

He's Dalaier than the Dalai Lama, he's popier than the Pope (not hard to do; look at those numbers), he's Statey-er than Hillary.

But let's not get too cocky, the Rushpublic spin will be that he's Old Europey-er than [Socialist commie Marxist fascist Dictator X]. See, in Rushpublic World, being popular is a bad thing. It translates into wanting to take over the world, the universe, and beyond.

No, that doesn't say global warming up there in the title, read it again. The world is warming up to the United States under President Obama's watch. Imagine.

Now that's the kind of global warming we like:

For the first time since the annual poll began in 2005, America's influence in the world is now seen as more positive than negative.

2005. ... ... 2005. Now who was in charge then? I remember! BushCo! Is it me, or did they negatively affect everything they got within inches of?

No, it's not me.

Of course, the Party of No will see this as another component of big scary commie pinko liberal French abortionist fascist Jew Marxist Obama's "Old Europe" evil socialist agenda. How unAmerican of him to get the rest of the world to like us again.

And work with us again.

And cooperate with us again.

And communicate with us again.

And support us again.

Doomsday Clock goes away from midnight by one minute

Last time it moved was 2007 (under GWB) two minutes closer to midnight. Guess that feeling I had was right-

Citing collaborative efforts by world leaders to reduce nuclear arsenals, secure nuclear bomb-making materials and pledge to limit greenhouse gas emissions, the group said the world was facing a "hopeful" state of affairs.

The Bulletin also said that the election of President Barack Obama, along with his efforts to initiate arms reduction talks with Russia and negotiations with Iran to close its nuclear enrichment program, affected its decision.

Obama's first-year travel sets presidential record

Well, obviously it has paid off in our standing in the world, so carry on.

WASHINGTON -- With his visit to Denmark to pitch Chicago as the site for the 2016 summer Olympics, President Barack Obama has now visited more countries in his first year in office than any other president did.

His one-day trek last week to Denmark -- which failed to convince the International Olympic Committee to award the games to his hometown -- made it the 16th country Obama has visited since taking office on Jan. 20.

That pushed him into the top spot as the country's top globetrotting leader in his freshman year, passing the previous record holders: George H.W. Bush, who hit 15 countries in the year after he took office in 1989, and Gerald Ford, who also jetted off to 15 nations after taking office midway through 1974.

Those two were just ahead of Richard Nixon, who in 1969 became the first real globetrotting president when he went to a then-unheard of 14 countries in his first 12 months.

Obama will add more before his first year anniversary. He'll visit China, Japan, Singapore and South Korea next month.

Poll: Obama is most trusted world leader

For as much as I kvetch about this or that not getting done, this is just so refreshing to read.

COLLEGE PARK, Md., June 30 (UPI) -- U.S. President Barack Obama is the most trusted leader in the world, a survey conducted in 20 nations indicated.

The poll, conducted April 4 to June 12 by WorldPublicOpinion.org, found 61 percent of those surveyed expressed a lot or some confidence in Obama. The finding, released Monday, comes one year after former President George W. Bush was found in the survey to be one of the world's least trusted leaders.

U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon ranked second in the current poll. The survey said Ban's evaluations across all countries polled were positive.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin registered the most negative confidence ratings among all world leaders.

"At this moment Obama occupies a unique position in the eyes of the world," said Stephen J. Weber of WorldPublicOpinion.org, "His communication skills and the change he represents create an open door for him to engage people around the world."

Americans Choose Obama As Most Admired In The World

Bush, not so much.

Americans choose Barack Obama as the man they admire most in the world, according to a new USA Today/Gallup Poll. It's the first time a president-elect has topped the annual survey in more than a half-century.

Obama's rise is matched by President Bush's decline.

"The president's support has ebbed nearly every year since 2001, falling to 5% this year. That matches the presidential low point reached by Harry Truman in 1952. Dwight Eisenhower scored first that year, the only other time a president-elect has led the list since Gallup began asking the question in 1948."
