Is this anything like health care reform legislation being completed by summer, er, fall, er, before Christmas, er, in March?

I'm sure we're all looking forward to the kindly old white Congress-gentlemen on the right side of the aisle reaching out to their brethren in a grand gesture of bipartisanship, coming together as one to confirm their president's Supreme Court nominee:

The chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee predicted Sunday that a new Supreme Court justice would be confirmed before Senators leave town for the August recess.

WASHINGTON (CNN) – It's official: the first family is heading to Martha's Vineyard in Massachusetts for some vacation next month.

White House aides confirmed on Friday night what had been rumored for months but had been kept under wraps for security and other reasons, including the fact that vacation plans are very sensitive in the middle of a painful recession.

The aides said President Barack Obama, first lady Michelle Obama and daughters Sasha and Malia will spend the final week of August together in Martha's Vineyard, a favored vacation spot for then-President Bill Clinton and his family in the '90s.

Just a very animated reminder that Paddy's flying solo for the next 5 days... unless my new mini-laptop gets a signal up in the Lake Tahoe area mountains ... and I'm inclined to interrupt a beautiful, badly-needed break to write posts.

Note to readers: Summer Vacation edition

Just a quick note to readers:

I'll be in San Diego this weekend, so I may not have access to a computer long enough to post anything. Paddy will be flying solo, so posting will be light.

Please be patient, we'll be back in full force on Monday and Tuesday, but...

I will also be gone next Wednesday through next Sunday (Lake Tahoe!), too, so again, Paddy will be holding down the fort all by her lonesome.

Treat her well, okay? Don't make me turn my car around or you'll all be grounded.

I'll miss you all, assuming I can't get my hands on a keyboard somewhere.

And Paddy? Behave yourself.

Kidding. Don't you dare.
