VIDEO: Standing O for the Vitter Pill, who prefers TV personalities to community organizers

By GottaLaff

Remember David Vitter, aka The Vitter Pill? This would be the same Vitter who favors corporations over sexual assault victims. The very same Vitter Pill who wants to defund Planned Parenthood. The one and only D.V. who was subpoenaed by the D.C. Madam. That same wacky zany guy who has a diaper fetish.

Yes, that David Vitter.

It seems the "We are Rushpublics and we approve Vitter's message" party is into him. He got a standing ovation at the Southern Republican Leadership Conference (SRLC).

Oh, and check out Mr. Personality's intro... using notes. I guess teleprompters weren't an option:

Andy Guinn, co-chair of the SRLC, introduced Vitter by saying he “fights everyday for Louisiana and her families.”

It gets better. The Values Party got a real boost when The Pill touted style over substance:

During his address, Vitter said, "I'll take a TV personality over a community organizer any day," an apparent reference to Sarah Palin and Barack Obama.

That's right, MeMe McNasty is preferable to someone who actually, you know, cares about people. Because that's how their party rolls.

Poll: Obama's health care overhaul isn't selling in South

What again was the reason we fought a long and bloody war to keep them?

Barack Obama's push to revamp the nation's health care system is getting the cold shoulder from Southerners, according to a new poll by Winthrop University.

But the president, who picked up a trio of Southern states in winning the 2008 presidential election, remains well-liked in this region, with solid majorities saying he is warm and friendly, trustworthy and concerned about people like those polled in South Carolina and 10 other Southern states.

Obama's signature domestic policy effort - reforming the nation's health care system - is running into a head wind from Southerners who said they are satisfied with the cost and quality of their health insurance and unhappy with the way the president is handling the issue.

"I'm not saying that we don't need an overall reform, but I think it's kind of extreme what they're trying to shove down our throats," said J. Chester Gambrell, a salesman who lives in Florence and participated in the poll. "I don't want a socialistic view of health care like Canada's got, like England's got."

(snip)

More than 77 percent of those polled said they are satisfied or very satisfied with the quality of the health care they receive. Just under 53 percent said they are satisfied or very satisfied with the cost of health care.

Poll-itics: More Southerners Say Obama Has Done Better Job Than Bush

By GottaLaff

Leave it to Greg to find the nugget:
[T]he internals show that a majority of southerners thinks Obama has done a better job than native son Bush:

Fifty-seven percent say Obama has been a better president than George W. Bush; only a third say Bush’s track record was better.

“Compared to Obama, Bush does fairly well among southerners and rural voters. But even in those categories, a majority still says Obama has done a better job than Bush,” says Holland.

I don't believe I heard this brought up on the Tee Vee Machine, did you?

Boy Georgie Fail, big time (to quote his boss).

There are more details here.

Voinovich: The GOP's 'being taken over by Southerners'

By GottaLaff

From the Dep't. of Painting Themselves into a Corner:
Republican Sen. George Voinovich, who is not running for re-election next year, told a newspaper in his home state of Ohio yesterday that Southerners bore a good share of the blame for his party's lagging popularity.

"We got too many Jim DeMints and Tom Coburns," Voinovich told the Columbus Dispatch Monday. "It's the Southerners….

"They get on TV and go 'errrr, errrrr,'" he said, according to the paper.

Errrrrrrr, errrrrrrr.... How was that? I was doing my Coburn impression. Too many Rs? Too over the top? Okay, I'll work on it.

"People hear them and say, 'These people, they're Southerners. The party's being taken over by Southerners. What they hell they got to do with Ohio?'"

What they hell got to do with anything? They are headed directly for extinction. Do not pass Go, do not collect $200. And they can take their errrrrr-drenched paint brushes with them.
