By GottaLaff

I posted about this, and then some, a little earlier. Here's the video:

Hey J-Sid, disrespecting the president won't work. He's smarter and quicker than you are.

Quote-O'-The Day: R-E-S-P-E-C-T edition

By GottaLaff

Paraphrasing (very slightly) something John McCain just said at the Big Health Care Summit about Democrats meeting "behind closed doors" to put a deal together:

"I say 'unsavory deal making' with respect."

How does one say that "with respect"?

And how does one respect a guy who chose Palin as a running mate?

Bonus quote, Prez O to J-Sid:

"We're not campaigning any more. The election's over."

Respect that, J-Sid.

Poll-itics: Republicans' Bow Wow!

By GottaLaff

http://www.seattleshakespeare.org/2005-2006/MuchAdo/images/much-ado-image.jpg

Via Greg Sargent:

When the president of the United States is traveling overseas, do you think it is appropriate for him to bow to a foreign leader if that is the country’s custom or is it never appropriate for the president to bow to another leader?

Yes 67%
No 26%

...[A] majority of Repubicans, 53%, says the Bow was appropriate, too, versus only 40% who said it isn’t.
Of course they approved, because it was appropriate. I recently heard a caller to the Stephanie Miller Show who seemed to be very knowledgeable about the subject. He explained that it was customary to have the two parties' eyes meet, so a taller person would naturally bow more deeply than his shorter counterpart.

Then again, there's that whole respect thing. But what do the so-called "critics" know about respect?

The more the media pushes these ridiculous stories, the more they create their own news. This is complete and utter nonsense, and those who were polled were smart enough to realize it.

VIDEO: TCB

I absolutely lerve Aretha, but I'm no fan of Rev.Rick:

Aretha Franklin and Dr. Rick Warren, an author and leader of the Saddleback Church, are among the select group of people who will participate in Barack Obama’s inaugural swearing-in ceremony on Jan. 20.

Mr. Obama has also chosen Elizabeth Alexander, an African-American poet, and some of the world’s premier musicians, including Itzhak Perlman and Yo-Yo Ma, to share the podium with him.

In honoring the civil rights movement, Mr. Obama has asked the Rev. Dr. Joseph E. Lowery, dean of the civil rights movement and co-founder with the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, to deliver the benediction. [...]

Justice John Paul Stevens will then administer the oath of office to Vice President-elect Joseph R. Biden, Jr., to be followed by a musical selection by John Williams, the composer and arranger whose music was heard at Mr. Obama’s victory party on election night in Grant Park. [...]

The oath of office will then be administered to President-elect Barack H. Obama by Chief Justice John G. Roberts, Jr.
For the first time in 8 years, we can have a little R-E-S-P-E-C-T for our president, and say the words "commander in chief" without laughing... or cringing.
