VIDEO: Conservative activist ambushes Robert Gibbs, who destroys him on substance

By GottaLaff

You have seen Mediaite's Tommy Christopher in several of my Blunt webisodes. He's always got something interesting to share with us, including this little moment of fun:

This style of gonzo interviewing is doubtless entertaining for Mattera’s audience, but it offers little in the way of influencing anyone else. Consistently, Mattera’s interviews find him winning on class-clown charm, and being pummeled on the substance. [...]

Mattera makes his frat brothers chuckle by asking Press Secretary Robert Gibbs if he ever “feels dirty” (no, Jason, that was Joe the Plumber), but Gibbs completely destroys him on the substance.

Mattera’s interview style is of a piece with fellow journalactivistist James O’Keefe. Like O’Keefe, Mattera uses deception, each time professing admiration for his subject. Rather than search for the truth, both Mattera and O’Keefe seek to create truth. As entertainment, their value is open for debate. As journalism? Not so much.

Who is this Jason Mattera of the Young America's Foundation we speak of? All my posts about him are here. Suffice it to say, he will get under your skin like nobody's business...

...because he's in everyone else's business, as you'll see he is with Senator Al Franken here.

"We have Michelle Malkin. Who does the left have, Rachel Maddow?"

By GottaLaff

We have Barack Obama. Who does the right have, Glenn Beck Jason Mattera?
Young America’s Foundation* spokesman Jason Mattera addressed a breakout session called “Turning The Tide In Your Generation.” In his comments, Mattera evoked the battle of David against Goliath as a metaphor for conservative college students who are ‘persecuted’ by the big bad liberals who control academia.” While discussing that theme, Mattera took the opportunity to argue for the supremacy of conservatism by saying, “our women are hot“:

During the panel, Mattera took the David and Goliath metaphor another perverse step: If conservatives (David) smite liberals (Goliath), they will be rewarded with the hot conservative women, just like King Saul promised his daughter to the warrior who slew the evil giant. “You know his daughter must have been beautiful because there’s no guy whose gonna die for an ugly girl,” Mattera chortled. “Our women are hot. We have Michelle Malkin. Who does the left have, Rachel Maddow? Sorry, I prefer that my women not look like dudes.”

Who's gonna die for an ugly girl? Really, Jason? Is that what you want to put out there? That and slamming a brilliant gay woman? Or rather, gay women in general?

As for Michelle Malkin, her Inner Ugly nullifies everything and anything else one might find attractive about her. Then again, her repugnance over qualifies her for the YAF Rushpublic Goddess 2009 title.

Then there's that whole "scary liberals control the academia" thing, not to mention...

Oh what's the use. He packed so much ConservaFail into those few lines, I'll leave it to you to discuss it in Comments. I'm beginning to sputter, and when I sputter I say things I regret. Your turn.

‘What I meant to say is that Sotomayor’ll shoot Scalia up in a drive-by.’

By GottaLaff

Yesterday I posted about a lovely Young Rushpublic named Jason Mattera. He made a pathetic attempt at humor ("If Sotomayer [sic] gained life experience from The Ghetto, does that mean she'd have a tendency to shank Scalia?"), but being the upstanding, moral up-and-comer that he is, he saw the error of his ways and made a correction:

Mattera responded to “the silly outrage from liberals” today in a message to Hot Air’s Ed Morrissey:

Okay, guys. Sorry. I got it all wrong: Sotomayor will not “shank” Scalia on the bench. What I meant to say is that she’ll shoot him up in a drive-by. Watch out, brother Antonin!

Second salvo launched! Your turn, Sonia.

Mattera, who grew up in Brooklyn, claimed that his posting was part of a joking “inner-city rivalry” with the Bronx-born Sotomayor.

There now. Much better. Isn't he a laugh riot? Isn't he just so street? Are we slapping our knees and guffawing yet?

Now imagine if a Democrat had said something like that during any of the Bush nominees' confirmation hearings.

Hey, yo, Mattera, you're killin' us with your drive-by humor. In fact, it's deadly.

"Sotomayor might ’shank’ Scalia.’"

If you can't read that, it says, "If Sotomayer [sic] gained life experience from The Ghetto, does that mean she'd have a tendency to shank Scalia?"

I need a new word for "despicable". Feel free to act a my thesaurus in Comments.

The above screen grab is Young America’s Foundation spokesman Jason Mattera reacted (on Facebook) to the Sotomayor hearings:

Mattera is a frequent Fox News guest, often booked after he does quick ambush interviews with Democrats on the Hill.
To quote:
Jason is the surprisingly fresh face of conservatism. [...]

What other radio hosts are saying about Jason:

Jason Mattera is an incisive, tenacious champion of the right. His continuing work to expose liberal bias on campus always makes for a blockbuster interview!” – Mark Larson, San Diego’s KOGO-AM

"Jason Mattera is sharp, confident and articulate. He is a solid example of the next generation of conservative leadership and the role that Young Americas Foundation plays in developing that leadership. America will be in good hands in the future.” - Kirby Wilbur, Seattle’s KVI Radio
Smile!

Rebranding personified.
