Obama Seeks No Leaks on Supreme Court Nominee

Well, he's been pretty good so far at keeping secrets, so this should be easy. Won't stop the speculation though (some of it highly questionable).

The Washington Post has details on how President Obama will pick a new Supreme Court nominee.

"The selection of a small and very senior group of administration officials to help manage the nomination is designed, in part, to avoid the kinds of leaks that angered several Cabinet nominees during Obama's transition."

"Running the selection are White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel, counsel Gregory B. Craig and deputy counsel Cassandra Q. Butts, a classmate of Obama's at Harvard Law. Obama has reached out to Republican and Democratic Senate leaders, seeking their recommendations. But the chance that he would veer from his own list, which began taking shape in December, is slim."

Vote Scheduled on Kirk Nomination

By GottaLaff

This is taking nearly as long as the Franken-Coleman trial:

The Senate Finance Committee has scheduled a Thursday vote for Ron Kirk's nomination as U.S. trade representative, Dow Jones reports.

According to CQ's Cabinet Tracker, Kirk is one of three nominees not yet confirmed by the U.S. Senate. The others are Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius to be secretary of Health and Human Services and former Washington Gov. Gary Locke to be Commerce secretary.

Bill Clinton May Testify at Wife's Confirmation Hearings

This is exactly the kind of crap I was worried about with Hillary's nomination. The freaking R's want it to be all about the Clenis all the time. Via Taegan.

"Senate Republicans are considering asking Bill Clinton to testify at his wife's confirmation hearing about potential conflicts of interest involving his worldwide charitable enterprises," according to Politico.
