Palin hires former ConcocoPhillips lobbyist as legislative director

By GottaLaff

Just before her hiring freeze, Grandma BookDeal, um, hires two people:

Gov. Sarah Palin has hired former ConocoPhillips lobbyist Jerry Gallagher to be her legislative director. He'll be her liaison to state legislators and have a hand in the governor's bills.

She also brought on Mark Myers, a former state oil and gas division director who went on to head the U.S. Geological Survey. He'll be coordinator for the Alaska Gasline Inducement Act and is supposed to expedite state review and permitting for the proposed gas pipeline to the Lower 48.

Wait, what's that I'm hearing in my non-existent earpiece? This just in!

The global economic crisis has dashed demand for natural gas, dimming chances for an Alaska gas pipeline, a top market analyst said Friday.

Good timing, Grandma. Now back to our Palin-mocking already in progress:

The hires came shortly before the governor announced a state hiring freeze.

Do as I say, not as I do. Gosh, that's kinda like how she conducts herself with her very own family.

Kelly Goode, Palin's former legislative director, was one of two people who resigned recently. Wise choice. Gallagher replaces her.

No, not this Gallagher, although something tells me he'd fit right in.
