More misinformation about Tea Party crowd estimates

There were like, a million attendees at the Searchlight, Nevada Tea Tantrum! Nonono, two million! Scratch that, eleventeen kazillion times infinity!

Or 8,000:

Every time they hold an event, the right-wing media just make stuff up. Every. Time. It's almost like they're desperately trying to make the movement into something it's not.

Almost?

Come on, we knew that. We've posted that. We've all pointed and laughed at that.

Politico's Kenneth Vogel had a little higher number, saying "an estimated 20,000 tea partiers gathered for a rally in a windswept desert lot," in his March 27 report on the event.

But guess what...

Politico didn't confirm the crowd size, it simply passed along the estimate provided by organizers.

The Las Vega Sun had a thing or two to say about that:

About 8,000 people were at the event as of 2 p.m., according to an estimate from Metro Police spokesman Jay Rivera. Traffic at one time was backed up about five miles from Searchlight.

Remember the references to this being the "conservative Woodstock"?

Woodstock's approximate attendance: 500,000.

Yesterday Paddy posted a video of ClusterFox's usual misleading "reporting", this time Palin crowd shot, as opposed to say, a tea party crowd shot.

But today is a brand spanking shiny new day:



They should really start considering inserting some semblance of truth into their fair and balanced news. That would be novel.

[T]he flag was, apparently, at half mast from yesterday, when all flags were that way in memory of 9/11. She postulates that particular flag was left at half-mast overnight, and illuminated, then raised this morning. There is a person at the base of the flag in the half-mast photo (on the DKos page)

I'll be happy to retract if that can be verified with more than a postulation. I'm fine with that.

Look at these two images. I screen grabbed the YouTube that supposedly depicts today's 9/12er crowds.

But wait! Look closer.

We have some liberal idiots amongst us who are incapable of performing math or grasping how averages work (it's not surprising that they don't know the difference between net and gross, since they don't pay taxes) so I will be nice and hold their hands:

The majority of the morning, IE the time passed during the day, not the time passed during the video, (there is a MASSIVE difference) has been sampled every 3 to 4 minutes to hurry it along, down to every 60 seconds for the actual march to portray the movement properly.

The shortest time span between frames here is 60 seconds despite the source being updated every 2 seconds. All frames were captured manually as .PNG files, extended to 1/3 second long and stitched together at 30FPS.

IE, framerate = 30 to satisfy YouTube's algorithms, visible framerate = 1/3 of that as 10FPS is taken up displaying the same image. Total running time approx 40 sec, total time represented = 3.5 hours.

With that out of the way, make sure to read through the comments and laugh at all the useful idiots, lol.

By the way, if this is erroneous reporting, let me know. I'm happy to retract and apologize.
