Earlier Paddy posted that Organizing for America was retreating on the public option. Now they're retreating on the retreating; more like OFA is agreeing with Obama's line about it not being a deal-breaker:
But OFA spokesman Hari Sevugan dismissed the significance of the change. “It’s reading way too much into a semantic difference,” he told me. “We support the president’s plan as he laid out in his remarks last week.”
Indeed, if you compare the former and current versions of OFA’s write-up of Obama’s plan, the only thing that seems to have changed is the format of the page and the grammar of the descriptions. The current one says Obama’s plan “offers a public health insurance option.”
Fine, but I still have one question: Why not insist on a public option if most Americans, including doctors, favor one?
