Greg Sargent has two nuggets that caught my eye today:

How about that? Nine hours.

Then there's this little White House promise:

A key concession from Dan Pfeiffer: The White House shouldn’t have stood back and let Congress set the agenda. Vows it won’t happen again.

Gee, ya think?

Good vow. You know why? Because if it happens again, bye bye 2012, bye bye agenda, bye bye Democrats.

Former Pressies Warn President-Elect Obama Not to Go Crazy on Web

Bloody morons. "Too accessible"?

He used the Internet to break fundraising records and win the White House, and now President-elect Barack Obama is expected to expand his reach via a greatly enhanced Whitehouse.gov website. But before he makes any big moves, former White House press aides to several presidents have a warning: Don't become so Web-accessible that it devalues the president's message making. "There is a real challenge and risk," says Don Baer, a former Clinton-era communications boss and former U.S. News staffer.

The risk: "Cheapen the president's message."

Baer, for example, suggested that using blogs, Web chats, and video conferences is a good idea, but he said that the White House has to make sure not to overdo it and thus make the president too accessible.

Robert Gibbs to be White House Press Secretary

I was actually hoping for Bill Burton, but Gibbs is more than capable. Via Ben-

President-Elect Barack Obama has filled a top staff job: Robert Gibbs, his traveling senior adviser for most of the campaign, will hold the high-profile role of White House press secretary, Mike Allen reports on Politico44.

Gibbs, an Alabama native and former communications director for the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, was Obama's communications director during his 2004 Senate race and in the Senate.

He became close counselor to Obama on the road, and though he began the campaign as communications director, wound up spending more time speaking to the candidate than to the press. He also did a couple of memorable, acerbic turns on television in the late days of the race, sparring with McCain aides and with Fox News's Sean Hannity.
