GOP Valentine cards could pose security risk

By GottaLaff

The other day I posted about the romantic side of the GOP: Politicizing Valentine's Day. Not that some of the cards weren't amusing. But now they're considered, of all things, a security risk.

Aren't the Rushpubs supposed to be the experts in maintaining a secure America? That's what they keep telling us:

But card-senders beware -- observers on Twitter have warned that the site could be fertile ground for fraudsters looking to harvest a slew of e-mail addresses for spamming purposes.

A more secure site would ask for a verifiable e-mail address before asking visitors to enter the e-mail addresses of 50 of their closest friends.

A humorous e-card probably isn't worth exposing your e-mail account to malicious "spambots" that can hijack your account and send spam to your entire address book.

Nothing says "Be mine" like a GOP Spamentine's card.

Send your significant other a GOP Valentine's E-Card!

Nothing says "love" like a Valentine's card adorned with political propaganda. And what's more convincing to do just that when the request comes from the inspiring, romantic words of Michael Steele while he has his bling-blinged hand out for donations:
Dear Fellow Republican,

This Valentine's Day, show the most important Republicans, Democrats and Independents in your life how much they mean to you by sending them a GOP Valentine's E-Card.

Pass along a special message from Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi that they didn't craft this Valentine's card behind closed doors like they did with their government-run health care experiment.

Or let President Obama extend your sincerest wishes to a loved one by claiming he's saved or created millions of Valentine's -- just like his party has claimed that the wasteful, pork-filled stimulus bill has created or saved thousands, 1.5 million or 2 million jobs depending on which Obama Administration official you ask.

Choose from 18 different Valentine's E-Cards that the Republican National Committee has created for this very special day. Share them with all your family and friends, especially those Democrats who need to know how you feel about the wrong direction their party is dragging our country.

After you've sent your GOP Valentine's E-Cards, please take a moment to make a secure online contribution of $10, $15, $25, $50, $100 or more to help our Party continue to build momentum as the critical 2010 mid-terms elections draw nearer. Your gift will be immediately put to work helping recruit and elect Republicans committed to our conservative principles of limited government, fiscal discipline, a strong national defense and personal responsibility.

On behalf of the entire leadership of the Republican National Committee, Happy Valentine's Day!

Sincerely,

Michael Steele
Chairman, Republican National Committee

P.S. Spread the love -- just like Obama spreads your wealth -- this Valentine's Day by sending your friends and family a GOP Valentine's E-Card from the Republican National Committee. Once you've sent your e-cards, I hope you'll consider making a secure online donation of $10, $15, $25, $50, $100 or more to support the RNC's efforts to elect Republican majorities at all levels in 2010. Thank you.

Wishing you a Great Depression and a Hungry New Year: The bestselling credit crunch Christmas cards

Oh my. If I had any money I'd soo send these.

Credit crunch Christmas cards wishing people a Great Depression and a Hungry New Year have become a surprise bestseller in the UK.

The new range of festive cards, which feature a family who have lost their home, a woman burning her Christmas presents to keep warm and a man standing in the bread line, have proved a huge hit with people fed up with the financial crisis.

Designed by artist Andrew Shaffer, they show vintage photos of the 1930s Great Depression and poke fun at high fuel prices, unemployment and the housing market slump.
'The response to the cards has been phenomenal,' said Andrew.
'I think people need to laugh now more than ever. Humour is essential to make it through these tough times.'

Bush White House Caught in Hanukkah Gaffe

By GottaLaff

If it's Wednesday (or Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday, or Tuesday), it must be a Bush gaffe:
A picture of a Christmas tree is not the first thing you would expect to see on an invitation to an event celebrating Hanukkah, but that is exactly what recipients of invitations to this year's White House Hanukkah reception initially got in the mail.

The invitation sent to American Jewish leaders on behalf of the President and First Lady, requesting "the pleasure of your company at a Hanukkah reception," bore an image of a Clydesdale horse drawn cart, carrying the White House Christmas tree, with a Christmas wreath-adorned White House in the background.

Mrs. Bush's press secretary, Sally McDonough:

"Mrs. Bush is apologetic, It is just something that fell through the cracks," she said, referring to the role of the First Lady's office in sending out the invitations.

The card as originally intended featured a menorah given to the White House during Harry Truman's presidency.

It's the thought that counts. Right?
