Tea Are the World: Tea Party Singer Recording Charity Version of 'Take Back America'

No, this really has to be a a joke. They expect people to spend money on this shit?

Get ready for "Tea Are the World."

In an event that's one part "American Idol" audition and one part "We Are The World" recording session, conservative singer-songwriter Lloyd Marcus is planning to bring together the musical voices of Tea Partiers from across the country to sing the movement's unofficial anthem, "Take Back America," on a charity album to benefit the families of soldiers.

(snip)

No major celebrities have signed on yet -- Marcus says he's been talking with former "Saturday Night Live" cast-member Victoria Jackson and he will be reaching out to hard rock guitarist Ted Nugent -- but he says that's all right.

"I love the fact that we're going to have a bunch of unknown singers and bands," Marcus said. It's not about getting celebrities to do it. This is about pulling musicians from all walks of life....

Install microchips in illegal immigrants, GOP candidate says

Something has gone very wrong in this country. Human = Dog.

Speaking at a Tama County Republican forum Monday, six candidates for the GOP nomination to face seven –term Democratic Rep. Leonard Boswell opposed amnesty for illegal aliens and called for tougher enforcement of border security.

“I think we should catch ’em, we should document ’em, make sure we know where they are and where they are going,” said Pat Bertroche, an Urbandale physician. “I actually support micro-chipping them. I can micro-chip my dog so I can find it. Why can’t I micro-chip an illegal?

“That’s not a popular thing to say, but it’s a lot cheaper than building a fence they can tunnel under,” Bertroche said.

Ben Nelson: Reform Should Be Supported By 65 Senators; Says No To Reconciliation

That man and the squirrel family he keeps on his head need to go. Via Greg.

The latest: Nelson now says health care reform should have the support of 65 Senators to have credibility with the American people. Nelson also says he will actively oppose any efforts by Dems to do reform alone through the “reconciliation” process.

(snip)

It’s unclear how Nelson settled on the number 65 as his marker. It’s also unclear why health care reform supported by 64 Senators wouldn’t enjoy public confidence, since that number is significantly higher than 51, which would constitute a majority of the upper chamber.

TPM adds a little jab-
For the record, Nelson first won election in 2000 with just 51% of the vote and won re-election in 2006 just shy of his new superduper legitimacy standard, with 64%.

Ahmadinejad accuses Obama of interfering in election

Imagine what he'd be saying if Obama came out as forcefully as some wanted him to.

TEHRAN, Iran (CNN) — Iran's president slammed President Obama on Saturday, saying officials in the Islamic republic are astonished over what they see as his interference in Iran's disputed elections.

"Didn't he say that he was after change?" Ahmadinejad asked Iranian judiciary officials in a speech. "Why did he interfere? Why did he utter remarks irrespective of norms and decorum?"
Dude doesn't even make sense.

Bill O'Reilly Books Joan Walsh After Her Harsh Criticism of Him

Must see teevee.

Tonight on The O'Reilly Factor, Bill O'Reilly will interview Salon.com editor, and frequent MSNBC guest, Joan Walsh. Here's the backstory:

On Wednesday's Hardball with Chris Matthews, Walsh was critical of O'Reilly and seemed to connect him to the murder of Dr. George Tiller. "When Bill O'Reilly goes on TV every night and calls Dr. Tiller a baby killer and a Nazi and a Mengele, and shows where he works, why do we put up with that?" she asked. "Why is that entertainment in our culture? It's demonizing a private citizen for doing a lawful job? Why are people doing that? Why is that acceptable?" (She expanded on this in a blog post.)

Last night O'Reilly called Walsh "one of the most extreme" critics of him for "telling the truth about Dr. Tiller."

He also invited Walsh on the FNC show — and she accepted. On Twitter, she asked for advice. "I plan on being calm, smart, kind and well-prepared," said Walsh.
