Americans United for Change runs ad pro Obama budget

Ben seems to feel it targets Democrats, but it seems to me it's a very good ad that just bolsters the argument for the budget. If centrist Dems want to fight a stronger economy, then they have to live with the consequences.

Americans United for Change, the labor-backed group working to pass Obama's budget, has this new ad targeting moderate Democrats, Jonathan Martin reports.

"The goal is to push Senate Budget Committee Chairman Kent Conrad (D-N.D.) and members of a new group of centrist Democrats to get behind a spending blueprint that many of them have already criticized," he writes.

New Ad Hits GOPers On Budget: Who Are You With? Rush Or America?

This might be getting old.

A Dem operative sends over an advance copy of a new radio ad being launched next week by Obama’s allies on the left that ups the stakes in the Limbaugh wars.

The spot confronts GOP Congressmen with a choice on the coming budget fight: You’re either rooting for Rush to get his way, or you’re rooting for the success of America:

The ad, which is being paid for by the labor-backed Americans United for Change, will air in the districts of five House Republicans next week: Reps. McCotter, Reichert, Dent, Castle, and McCotter (the latter being the target in the above version).

The ad lays the groundwork for the budget battle by saying that opposing Obama’s budget would be tantamount to embracing Rush’s desire for failure.

New Americans United for Change Unveils GOP True Leader

I was kind of grumpy over blogger giving me a headache, but now I'm actually cheery!!! Via Ben-

"Rush Limbaugh is the leader of the Republican party - he says jump and they say how high," says AUC's Brad Woodhouse. "He is better known among Republicans than any of the leaders and when he speaks they listen and follow just as they did on the recovery package. If you look at the polls he led them off a political cliff on the recovery package - and now they are - at his instruction - lining up to oppose the Obama budget and the rest of his agenda just like they did the recovery package hoping - as Limbaugh does - that Obama fails. Of course - the vast majority of Americans want Obama to succeed and they know if he fails America fails. Republicans have adopted this strategy and this ad and a bunch of other stuff our side in planning is gonna make them own it and Limbaugh."

Are You with Obama or Rush Limbaugh?

Made me smile even before my coffee. I'm linking to the DKos diary because Politico was hanging me up. (transcript and more here)

Politico has learned that tomorrow Americans United for Change, a liberal group, will begin airing radio ads in three states Obama won — Ohio, Pennsylvania and Nevada — with a tough question aimed at the GOP senators there: Will you side with Obama or Rush Limbaugh?

"Every Republican member of the House chose to take Rush Limbaugh’s advice," says the narrator after playing the conservative talk radio giant’s declaration that he hopes Obama "fails."

"Every Republican voted with Limbaugh — and against creating 4 million new American jobs. We can understand why a extreme partisan like Rush Limbaugh wants President Obama’s Jobs program to fail — but the members of Congress elected to represent the citizens in their districts? That’s another matter. Now the Obama plan goes to the Senate, and the question is: Will our Senator"—here the ad is tailored by state to name George Voinovich in Ohio, Arlen Specter in Pennsylvania, and John Ensign in Nevada—"side with Rush Limbaugh too?"
