Solis Doyle checked with Hillary, Hillary said yes

By GottaLaff

Are loyal Hillary supporters going to doubt the word of their own candidate? Or will they continue to resent Patti Solis Doyle for joining Obama?

Clinton replaced Patti Solis Doyle after poor early showings in the primaries, but Solis Doyle told The Associated Press on Wednesday she didn't think their longtime friendship was permanently damaged. She joined the Obama campaign last month as chief of staff to Obama's eventual running mate.

Solis Doyle said her move came as no surprise to Clinton. Still, some of Clinton's backers were outraged by what they saw as a slight to Clinton and an indication that she would not get the vice presidential slot.

"I understand the, you know, deep emotion and passion, absolutely. She's my friend and I threw everything into her campaign that I could possibly throw into it," Solis Doyle said during an interview in her office at Obama's downtown Chicago headquarters. "But as heartbreaking as it was, she lost. And now it's time, for the good of our country and for the good of my kids, to move on and get Barack Obama elected." [...]

She says the move to Obama came with "very complicated emotions" because of that past. So she checked with her old boss before joining Obama's team.

So Hillary knew, of course. We knew she knew. But reiterating it doesn't hurt. She knew. And she approved.

"She's a friend of mine and I just wanted to, both on a personal and professional level, let her know what I was doing and make sure that she was, you know, good with it. And she was," Solis Doyle said.

Hillary was menschy about the move, and "was, you know, good with it." What's the problem again?

The two exchanged phones calls - but kept missing each other - so Solis Doyle sent Clinton an e-mail. She said Clinton congratulated her and told her she was sure she would do a great job. The two have kept in contact via e-mail but haven't had a chance to "really, really talk" since the primary campaign ended.

It would be so much more pleasant if more Clinton loyalists could take their cue from their former candidate herself.

Top Clinton aide joins Obama team

By GottaLaff

Unity?
Former Clinton campaign manager Patti Solis Doyle will join Sen. Barack Obama's campaign "as the chief of staff to the vice presidential candidate -- whoever he (or she) will be," according to the New York Times.

"Ms. Doyle will take the position before Mr. Obama announces his choice for a running-mate -- he has not said when that will be. Mrs. Clinton and Ms. Doyle have a long friendship, and Ms. Doyle has long been one of her closest aides, until she was forced out.
Now the talking heads will be all newly a-buzz about a possible veep slot for Hillary:
Ben Smith: "Though this will stir speculation that she's paving the way for Hillary, but it actually makes me think the opposite. Clinton fired her in February ,and many of her backers view Solis Doyle as a bit of a traitor for having signaled that she'd move to Obama before the primary was over."

Time has a list of other Obama staff appointments made today.
Why, here's the list now! (See how I take care of you, saving you all that hard work of having to click on a link?)
Constituency Director: Brian Bond – formerly LGBT Outreach Director at the DNC
National Field Director: Jon Carson – formerly Obama for America Voter Contact Director
Senior Advisor to the Campaign and Chief of Staff to Michelle Obama: Stephanie Cutter
[UPDATE: Cutter is a longtime top aide to Sen. Edward M. Kennedy and served as communications director to Sen. John Kerry during his 2004 presidential campaign. She also has worked as a staffer and consultant to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (Nev.).

Cutter's new Obama role underscores a growing concern within the campaign and among outside allies that Michelle Obama is becoming a lightening rod for the opposition.]
Industrial States Regional Director: Paul Diogardi – formerly Political Director for the Democratic Governor’s Association.
Battleground States Director: Jen O’Malley Dillon – formerly Iowa State Director for John Edwards for President
Chief of Staff to the Vice Presidential Nominee: Patti Solis Doyle
Latino Vote Director: Temo Figueroa – formerly Obama for America National Field Director
First Americans Vote Director: Wizipan Garriott
Northeast Regtional Director: Eureka Gilkey – formerly Obama for America Deputy Political Director
50-State Voter Registration Director: Jason Green – formerly Obama for America political and field staff
Campaign Chief of Staff: Jim Messina – formerly Chief of Staff to Senator Max Baucus
LGBT Vote Director: Dave Noble – formerly of the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force
West Regional Director: Matt Rodriguez –formerly Obama for America New Hampshire State Director
Senior Advisor: Michael Strautmanis
African American Vote Director: Rick Wade
Personally, I like seeing him reach out to the gay community as much as possible. I'm not sure if he's doing more than most have, but from what I've posted about in the past, at least he's making an effort.

Former Hillary Campaign Manager, Patti Solis Doyle, Mulls Working For Obama

By GottaLaff
When you wish upon a star, your dream of --poof!-- leaving Hillaryland for Obamaland can come true:

Patti Solis Doyle, one of the closest of Hillary confidantes, is informally discussing the possibility of working for Obama in the general election. Already.

Princess Patti of "Hillaryland" is, as the village rumor has it, the young maiden who coined that very term, yet now she's thinking of switching her loyalties to Prince Charming. How quickly she defected! Maybe she bit into an enchanted apple? No matter, she's finally out from under Queen Hillary's spell. And what a spell it was!

Indeed, here's what Hillary spokesperson Howard Wolfson had to say when asked about this:

"I intend to be working in the general election for Sen. Clinton," said Wolfson. "I find any other speculation offensive."
Ouch.
Princess Patti spoke of her Prince and his efforts to lead the land to peace and prosperity:
If Barack Obama’s the nominee, I’ll do everything I can to get him elected.
Will she spread her fairy dust on townspeople near and far? Share your magic, Princess Patti!
Solis Doyle, however, could also bring long relationships with many Latino lawmakers and officials, a valuable commodity since Hispanics will be a crucial constituency in the general election.
And although Sharp-Shooting-Archer Wolfson persisted on drawing arrows from his quiver and aiming wildly at everything in sight, Princess Patti, being the artful dodger she was, escaped and lived happily ever after in Obamaland.

The End
