Inevitable: Palin bars media from two upcoming Florida events

By GottaLaff

http://www.blogcdn.com/www.bloggingstocks.com/media/2008/12/blog-money-winners-sarah-palin-200x267.jpg

Why in the world would SoundBite McWTF want to put a lid on the media? It's not like she doesn't have pearls of wisdom to impart... as long as they're written on her hand. By someone else. That she should regret.

But doesn't:
Fox News contributor Sarah Palin will make two high-profile appearances in Central Florida next month, but the press will not be welcomed. Palin’s camp has barred the media from recording or photographing the former governor’s speeches, so if reporters want to attend, they’ll have to buy a ticket like anyone else. (Prices are between $150 and “at least” $250.) The Orlando Sentinel reports that the unusual decision was made by Palin’s handlers, not local organizers.
Freedom of the what again?

And just by the way, who's acting like a celebrity these days?

No media allowed at Palin speech in Missouri

By GottaLaff

We already know that Barbie McLipSchmutz does everything she can to avoid the spotlight. That's probably why she went on Oprah... just to get that one message out. Otherwise she'd be secluded in her tiny home office dictating the next Facebook entry to her ghost poster.

So it's understandable that B-Lip is banning the press again:
Reporters won't be allowed to cover Sarah Palin's convocation speech at the College of the Ozarks in Missouri on December 2, according to the school.

Elizabeth Andrews, the college's communications director, called the decision "mutual."

Of course it was mutual. If I were the College of the Ozarks, I wouldn't want it getting out either.

Andrews said the agreement is not unusual for the school, a Christian college in southern Missouri. She said past events with prominent speakers have also been closed to the press.

Maybe so, but Barbie sure does freeze out the press a lot when it comes to her fancy speechin'. Can't imagine why.

AUDIO: "For the past 8 years, this White House has mainly given the 4th estate and the 1st amendment the finger"

By GottaLaff

A must-listen:

President Bush bid his final farewell to the White House press corps on Tuesday. “Through it all,” he told reporters gathered in the briefing room, “I have respected you.” Really? Let’s look at the record.

A snarky recap by NPR of Georgie's relationship with the press. Thank you, Georgie, thank you (that will make sense after you listen to the audio).

IWRC* Palin's Big U.N. Photo Op

By GottaLaff

UPDATE on this post about IWRC* Palin's Big Day-- Just now on MSNBC, per David Gregory:

It's nothing but a photo op. They don't want to take the questions because they don't want the candidate to be seen as not answering them.
Then he backpedaled a little, but not too effectively.

Reporter:
She's attending Foreign Policy School this week.
Then she backpedaled a little, but not too effectively.

*"In What Respect, Charlie?"
